The Kilachand Honors College is a perfect fit for me because I am intellectually curious. I am extremely motivated to learn, but I would like to help others succeed as well. The various group assignments will be beneficial because I will be able to experience perspectives of students from different backgrounds because we all have similar goals. Together, I am confident we will solve challenging problems by implementing ideas from the different group members because our motivation to succeed will allow for high performing groups. These exercises will allow me to experience new perspectives from others within this honors college, and furthermore, I will create connections with my peers that will be beneficial for future career opportunities. However, I have not been taught how to search for a job. There are no classes offered that teach students how to create a resume, go on an interview and what jobs are best-suited for different personalities. I think this is essential because a job experience has the possibility to teach responsibility, time management and communication skills that are essential. Also, it is difficult to find a job, or even an internship because my school does not have job fairs or information sessions. This made my search for a summer internship difficult. Fortunately, my uncle suggested an internship with the Congressman, which I pursued. I was required to submit a resume; however, I did not have one, nor did I know how to create one. My father helped me condense my skills and activities since I had not learned that skill. I know college will teach me what is necessary for job applications, but I would have liked to learn these skills in high school because it would have proved beneficial last
The Revised Children’s Manifest Anxiety Scale (RCMAS-2) is a revision of the Children’s Manifest Anxiety Scale (CMAS) created by Cecil Reynolds and Bert Richmond in 1985 (Reynolds & Richmond, 2008). The RCMAS-2 includes an updated standardization sample, improved psychometrics, and broadened content (Reynolds & Richmond, 2008). Although these revisions occurred, the brevity, elementary reading level, and content-based item clusters were retained, offering an updated and effective tool for understanding and treating anxiety in school-aged children (Reynolds & Richmond, 2008).
I genuinely believe that peer interaction is a vital component in the development of academics as well as character in which I have the skill set and experience to do so. Growing up in a diverse and culturally rich community exposed me to various personalities and constructed me to undergo everything with an open mind. My unique background will expand the boundaries of the Honors Program with the incorporation of my personal experiences. With my strong work ethic and my willingness to explore a vast scope of courses, I can be an integral influencer in peer-to-peer learning environments. My preparation for every course beforehand assures my ability to participate and contribute during each class. I am always on top of my workload which proves that I would be an active student in classroom discussions and have thorough development in my research opportunities. I will be the thermostat in this program by setting the emotional and personal climate and setting examples for other students with a vision that we will all strive for the extra mile inside and out of the classroom. My passion to learn and the dedication I hold to my studies exemplify the type of student needed in this program. I hold the ambition that is needed to be successful in the Honors Program at the University of Georgia.
Maus is a graphic memoir by Art Spiegelman, about a father, Vladek, survivor of the Holocaust and a son, Arty, who wants to know what was it like living during the Holocaust era. During the holocaust years, Vladek was advised by a rabbi that his tattooed number will bring him luck. Throughout the story, he continues to personify the luck his number represents by being persistent and hardworking. Despite suffering starvation, thirst, and not feeling well, Vladek continues to remain humble by helping his fellow inmates. In “The Fish” by Elizabeth Bishop, the narrator attempts to understand the relationship between humans and nature and finds herself concluding that they are intertwined due to humans’ underlying need to take away from nature, whether through the act of poetic imagination or through the exploitation and contamination of nature. Bishop’s view of nature changes from one where it is an unknown, mysterious, and fearful presence that is antagonistic, to one that characterizes nature as being resilient when faced against harm and often victimized by people. Mary Oliver’s poem also titled “The Fish” offers a response to Bishop’s idea that people are harming nature, by providing another reason as to why people are harming nature, which is due to how people are unable to view nature as something that exists and goes beyond the purpose of serving human needs and offers a different interpretation of the relationship between man and nature. Oliver believes that nature serves as subsidence for humans, both physically and spiritually. Unlike Bishop who finds peace through understanding her role in nature’s plight and acceptance at the merging between the natural and human worlds, Oliver finds that through the literal act of consuming nature can she obtain a form of empowerment that allows her to become one with nature.
The project was completed successfully and all objectives were met. The staff were efficient with the allocated duties and were able to assist the student with their needs during the orientation week. The presence of students and parents at this program also helped promote the University to attract future students.
In life, people come across challenging obstacles’ when trying to achieve their goals. College, like that of life, has a variety of challenges that appear in a student’s pathway to their goals. For most college students that are just starting out in the basic classes, such as Mrs. Fox-Angerer’s English 101, problems can arise due to classes being much harder than the prior high school classes the students are used to. Mrs. Fox-Angerer’s class is hard because it has an online portion, it creates stress, and it is a required class.
The Honors Program is less about reward and more about the push for personal growth for myself. The last four years have shown to be a challenge, from being the first year student in Pre-calculus to being the junior who is aiming for a five on the AP test. I came from having mostly A’s, with few B’s, to being the student who earned A’s in every class. Personal motivation led me to this achievement. The Honors Program at CSU looks like a program to help me continue my journey of gaining knowledge. Being a member of this program would give my motivation to continue to strive for those higher grades. It is in my interest to be in this program to keep my performance in classes at the upper level. This program would allow me to focus on academics and strive for the best grades personally possible.

With my acceptance into the University Honors Program, my educational experience will undoubtedly be enhanced through various aspects of the Honors Program, one of them being the Thesis/Capstone Project. Over a three year span, I will have the opportunity to delve into deep, complex research about my major and then write a thesis paper of my hypothesis. This process will involve me finding a mentor, most likely a professor within Georgia Southern’s staff. Therefore, I will be making connections through my thesis paper. The Thesis/Capstone Project will also enhance my educational experience by showing potential graduate schools I have went more in depth within the material of my major.

Being a successful student and achieving continued academic success is fundamental in order to complete an associate degree and become a successful professional. College is challenging, but it can be a rewarding growth experience and easier when setting up goals. Having educational and career goals helps students keep the focus and motivation. Besides, having knowledge of different learning styles can help students learn about themselves and increase efficiency while studying. This chapter discussed the reflection on the project and the wider implications of the project, and demonstrated the reflection on the MA experience.
