Some schools are thinking that more hour in school days would give the students more knowledge. The school should not add hours to the school day because students get tired in school, there would be more homework, and there would be longer class periods.
Students get tired during school. Because if school was later kids would have less time for things that kids do after school like sports, and they will get tired because if school got out later the sports will start later and then they will have less time for sleep. It said that 2% of students every year die from being to tier and then driving said sumathi reddy. The kids are up too late And then drive and it is not safe because they are too tired to drive.
Extending the day would create
When in the course of human events, students should be entering school a little bit later than the usual. This will give the student more sleep time which then will allow the student to think better when in school. This will also help a student be fully awake and not be sleeping in class. Students will pay more attention and will be ready to learn. Waking up early and going to school early makes a student be sleepy in class. We the students should be getting a later start in school.
Also, students will be up later finishing homework and socializing on their phones with friends. Although schools will now have been adjusted to fit with students sleep cycles, that does not mean that the students will actually get more sleep. Also, people do not think of the consequences such as conflicts with transportation.
Students may need to nap to compensate for energy expended throughout the day. However, if schools were to start later, adolescents would not have to nap, allowing for a larger window of time to spend with their families after school, even with a later start time. Another opposing argument is that students would have less time to participate in extracurricular activities. However, this issue can be resolved by making practices for sports and club meetings shorter and more frequent to accommodate the schedule variation. Overall, the benefits of later start times far outweigh the drawbacks.
A normal school day begins between 7:00 and 8:00 (Canapari). A typical wake time for students is 6 A.M. (Canapari). An average teen goes to bed between 10 and 11 (Canapari). This means that an average teen gets on average seven to eight hours of sleep when they need on average 9 ¼ hours of sleep as stated in the above paragraph. One man, Matt Gaetz stated, “The evidence is pretty one sided that high school students don’t have the same cognitive function that they have at eight or nine in the morning.” (Beaton). There are many pros to beginning the school day later. One pro is the reduced risk of teen crashes. The later start time would allow teens to be more alert while driving to school (Pro...
School days should be shorter fro students because they do not get enough sleep, have to much homework, and have barley have time to participate in extra curricular activities. A majority of students have sleep depravation due to school. If school would either start or end late students will have a greater opportunity to get more sleep. Teachers expect students to pay attention for 90 minutes while the night before they were up late finishing their homework for there classes. Some teachers do not realize that students have a life and work or have other obligations that take up a major portion of the students.
Researchers have proven that teenager’s brains don’t start working until ten in the morning, also that an average teenager is supposed to get eight to nine hours of sleep each night. These are a few reasons that school starting times are negatively affecting students learning abilities at school. I believe that schools should have later starting times. An average teenager is supposed to get eight to nine hours of sleep each night, however in reality most teens only get about seven hours. A lack of sleep is causing students to do worse on homework and tests. Our school starts at seven twenty-five, if it started two hours later, then students would be getting the exact amount of sleep that they need each night. A study shows that the brain doesn’t
... with Europe and Asia, the American Board of Education placed project schools around our nation to examine the effect of extended school hours. Extra hours, however, will not contribute to increasing test scores as well as other factors can. Instead, the government should provide our schools with more qualified teachers. Without professional teachers, extending the hours in class cannot possibly help US students.
Have you ever woken up and still felt unbelievably tired? Ever needed an extra hour or two of sleep? Scientists have proven that kids who sleep more can retain more information. More sleep could easily be achieved if we would delay school start times. Schools that have done this have shown higher test grades. Schools should have later start times because parents have trouble getting their children up, kids need a lot more sleep than they are getting, and there would be a lowered risk of illnesses.
Sleep is extremely important to all of us, but students and teens aren't getting enough of it and it’s a problem. When teenage students are tired, that increases obesity, illness, anxiety, and depression. No parent or teacher wants their kids to have those qualifications so that's one of the reasons why school should start later.
In a recent study done by Yucaipa high school, 97% of students believe school should start later. Students should be able to start school at 9:00 a.m. Students should start later because kids will have a better attendance and less tardies. The more sleep students get the more energized they are, as well as having a better mood throughout the day. The majority of the students drive, so the more sleep they have helps decrease the rate of car accidents. Students are late, absent, cranky, and careless this is why school should start later.
If kids start school later they will improve mentally. Having a later start time causes less stress and less depression. If kids get their 10 hours of sleep it helps them not only not tired but they’re also more happy. At school I personally feel tired, and I start at 8:30 so 8:00 is still pretty early.
With longer school hour, students perform better, right? At least to Stephen Joel Trachtenberg, it is. In his article “Education is Not a Luxury,” he believes the current American school schedule is the debris of the old agrarian calendar, which does not cope with the modern educational system. Hence, he suggests lengthening school period similar to the university model to promote better learning atmosphere, along with providing different resources to students and rewarding teachers adequately to stay in teaching profession. Even though objections are inevitable, he reckons the educational system ought to cope with the changing world by shading accordingly. His proposal seems to be a rational, viable way to solve the problem that “school is not taken seriously” (213), however, lengthening school hour may not be the best way around. We should change the
Initially, a ten hour school day, and a day off would add a lot of time for students and teachers to catch up on school work. With more time to study and work on school work, they would have less to worry about. In many cases, people that are in school would enjoy a three-day weekend. This could lessen the stress of school, and may make the students enjoy school a little more.
While many would argue that longer school takes away from student’s extra-curricular activities, if students have no more homework it may let them do more activities after school. Texas district schools are notorious for piling homework on students as soon as they start school. With so much homework students simply have no time to explore their talents and enjoy after school hours. If an extra two hours of school existed then districts couldn’t give tons of homework because no one would have time to finish it and parents would complain.
student, in turn, will not do well with school work. The extra day of school would take away
