I chose to write a sports journalism piece on the most controversial decision of not only the 2016 NBA offseason, but perhaps all NBA offseasons in history: Kevin Durant to the Golden State Warriors. My target audience for the article is basketball fans worldwide; as this decision had the whole world talking and not only America. Kevin Durant's decision caused a seismic shift across the NBA landscape, and sports journalists, players and coaches were quick to voice their opinion on the decision. I decided to compare Kevin Durant's decision to the LeBron James decision in 2010, as I believe LeBron James was unfairly treated by the media for his move, and Kevin Durant's move was the perfect way to prove that. I spend most of the article comparing
Lebron James is a well known professional basketball player for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Lebron is often referred to as one of the greatest to ever pick up a basketball. Lebron makes money from playing basketball but a substantial amount of his income comes from sponsorships and endorsement deals with outside brands. This is where his social media plays a huge part of his life.
In conclusion this is how these two allstars are beyond incredible and this is how they show their talents in different ways. This also shows how American culture has changed a lot. We see how Michael Jordan talent differs from Lebron James talent but they are compared too as both “The best to ever play the game of basketball”.
At every level of basketball there are players that have shined on and off the court, this is true for two exceptional players like Michael Jordan and LeBron James. The debate over these two marvelous athletes and who is the better of the two, has divided sports fans since LeBron earned his first Finals Championship.
Several foreign basketball players have individually left their marks on NBA courts, in NBA record books, and in their fans’ hearts. Different ethnic groups, races, and sports fans in general have united, cheering on heroic efforts from players from overseas. These international players amped up the level of competition in basketball and found themselves at home in the NBA. Four international players have been honored with the most prestigious award a player can receive in professional basketball, NBA MVP. These same four players are undoubtedly future Hall of Famers and were listed in the top 30 international players of all time in a 2013 “Dime Magazine” article (Daruaku). These four players, Steve Nash, Tim Duncan,...

I am doing my successful person report over Kevin Durant, because, he has played a dominant role in carrying the Thunder Basketball team and represents Oklahoma City in a great way. Kevin Durant has been a huge impact on the court and in the public as he soars for the dunk from the free-throw line to amaze the crowd, he also volunteers at various organizations and remains humble despite his numerous accolades such as, three time NBA scoring champion, rookie of the year, and helped Team USA win the gold medal at the Olympics.
After having analyzed some of the questions that have been addressed by some of my research material and having brainstormed on possible questions relevant to my issue, I have been able to come up with four questions that I would be interested in debating. First is the procedure and/or policy questions: “Should the sports media focus more on the positive aspects of athletes, rather than the negative ones?” Secondly, I 'd like to debate the quality or value question “Is it right to assume that Stephen Curry 's “overrated” reputation is due to the media?” A third question I 'd like to debate is the conjecture question “Why is Stephen Curry accused of being overrated?” Finally, the fourth question I 'd like to debate is the definition question “Is it right to assume that Stephen Curry 's “overrated” reputation is due to the
“Where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe”( Douglass). This famous quote epitomizes the philosophies of Frederick Douglass, in which he wanted everyone to be treated with dignity; if everyone was not treated with equality, no one person or property would be safe harm. His experience as a house slave, field slave and ship builder gave him the knowledge to develop into a persuasive speaker and abolitionist. In his narrative, he makes key arguments to white abolitionist and Christians on why slavery should be abolished. The key arguments that Frederick Douglass tries to vindicate are that slavery denies slaves of their identity, slavery is also detrimental for the slave owner, and slavery is ungodly.
Abstract: Basketball players who enter the NBA early are not ready for the NBA. Early entry into the NBA by high school and college basketball players has had a negative affect on the college basketball program, the NBA, and the players themselves. Each year the number of early entries in the NBA rises more and more. In 1997, 47 basketball players entered the NBA draft early, and the number has risen since then. The college basketball program is drained of talent due to players leaving early. The high school players that go directly into the NBA are hurting the college program because they never contribute to the college program at all. The NBA now has to deal with a higher level of immaturity and disrespect by young players. College basketball players obtain a certain amount of respect and maturity in college. The players suffer by not grasping the concept of learning due to lack of education. Many analysts say that entering the NBA before finishing a four-year program is entering too early. The NBA commissioner, David Stern, has begun to work on ways to encourage players to go to and stay in college.
The National Basketball Association is the most popular professional basketball league in North America; it is also the most popular professional basketball league in the world. The National Basketball Association (NBA) is one of the most diverse businesses in the world, which was the deliberate plan of former NBA commissioner David Stern. The NBA was once an all white and male dominated league, now through years of an aggressive effort to diversify the organization the NBA is now one of the shining beacons for diversity, tolerance and acceptance in the workplace. Former NBA commissioner David Stern spearheaded and put into action on the best examples of creating and cultivation opportunities for success based on merit. “When David Stern steps down as NBA Commissioner in 2014, among the legacies he will have created is an era in professional sport when leagues and teams hired the best people possible. He embraced the moral imperative for diversity while helping to show the other leagues that diversity is also a business imperative. The evidence for the NBA’s continued commitment to racial equality is seen in the strong grades in the League Office and in many key areas on the team level.”(Lapchick, R.) To fully understand the transformation of the league we will cover the history of the association, team diversity, league diversity, the NBA diversity initiative, and current diversity issues.
Mark’s point of view regarding Denny’s personality and the contention over the custody case was changed after Denny had been charged in a false case of child molestation. Mark asked some general questions to Denny before this incident took place. In one of the questions he asked Denny if he is a registered sex offender in the response Denny denied. Later after he discovered that Denny was charged, the terms phedopile, sex offender, a statutory rapist, child molestor made Mark’s contention respects to Denny’s case powerless. Apparent to that, Mark commented saying that these terms do not fit in the concept of best interest of a child. “This is a totally bogus custody suit. I can’t even imagine why they would bother to file it” (Stein

Every sports community has countless discussions within one another. The one community I will be discussing about will be the basketball community. More specifically, the debate whether the Cleveland Cavilers and the Golden State Warriors are rivalries. This is one of the most talked about topics in a basketball community, it also both fans and non-fans to be involved in this discussion. Some sports critics say that this is one of the greatest rivalries that this game has ever seen, while others take the opposite stance saying that it does not need to be considered as a rivalry. My solution to this problem would be look at this topic from both sides of the argument, using research articles, interview clips and considering some discussions

Another difference between the college and professional game might be the effort put forth by the athletes. Even though this merely represents an ongoing debate, differences do exist that seem to provide evidence for this argument. For one thing, an NBA contract...
