I wake up and I wiped the drowsiness out of my eyes. I look at my wall and notice all the pictures I drew. My favorite is Katniss. I have like 20 pictures of her. I drew those after the Games. I’m deeply in love with her. She says she doesn’t love me. She loves Gale though. We haven’t slept together since we got home from the Games. I dream about her all the time. I spend a good three hours trying to draw another picture of Katniss, Haymitch, and I. After another thirty minutes, I quit.
I walk outside and look over towards her house. I look over to Haymitch's house and don’t see smoke coming out of his chimney.
“Haymitch. You drunk bum,” I say to myself and start walking over to his house. I here Katniss’s door open and I turn around.
“Peeta?

“I mean if I had one.”
I look at the clock and notice it was going on 1:45. “Holy s**t. We need to get you dressed fast.” I suddenly realized I was sounding like Katniss, so I turned around and walked out of his house.
I walked back to mine and flung the door open. If I only had one wish I would make myself Gale, because he has what I don’t. A girl that loves him. I realise what I have to do. I have to marry Katniss. I know President Snow is going to make us get married because he doesn’t believe our love. I think he believes I love Katniss because I do. I have a fake leg to prove it.
I climb the stairs to my bedroom and I look out the window to the woods. I know she’s out in there. Gale would be to if he wasn’t in the coal mines. I turn to look at my wall at the mockingjay I drew to symbolize my loyalty to Katniss. I spend a couple hours reading a book. I make my dinner at around six. My eyes were starting to get harder to hold up.
I flopped on my bed and fell asleep instantly.
. . .
I woke up to the sound of the birds outside my window. I got up and stretched my leg. I look out the window and see that it snowed the night before. I get bundled up and grabbed a shovel from down stairs. I walk over to Katniss’s house and shovel a path from her house to mine, then to Haymitch’s. Katniss’s door opened
... hunter that lives to protect her family. When taken to the Capitol, it is Katniss’s first time away from her duty and she changes. When Katniss returns to District 12, it is unclear exactly how much change Katniss has undergone and how permanent these changes are. Katniss obviously has an aptitude for survival as seen in her nature, but she is also very affected by her environment. The Katniss in District 12 was so sure of herself and her role, but after everything she has gone through, how much of this Katniss remains? Does she truly love Peeta or was it just an act? Was she capable of murder before or was it forced upon her in the Hunger Games? Is she the protector, the girl on fire, or are they one in the same? Nature and nurture both play an integral role in one’s identity, but it is the individual’s job to decipher what these two forces combined can create.
There are many inferences you can make about the reaping and why Katniss thinks Prim is safe from the reaing, just by reading paragraphs 1 through 7. For example you can infer that the reaping is some sort of drawing or lottery from the quotes, "...since she's only entered once." and " ... but I'm powerless against the reaping." because it is something you must enter and are powerless against. You can infer that Katniss think Primrose is safe because of her age and how many times her name had been entered. Quotes from paragraph 2 and 7 help prove this. "...since she only entered once" is a valid reason Katniss think Prim is safe if she has only entered once the chances are pretty slim she will get chosen. Another example is " I didn't
First of all, I’d like to say sorry for all the things that Scout and I have done. We behaved badly by trying to make you come out of the house. Such as when we gave you a letter to let you know that we want you to go out of your house, even if you do not want to, but Atticus caught us, when I’m going to slip the paper in your window he took it from me and read it. He told me to stop bothering you because Atticus thought that we’re making fun of you, but we’re not, we just want you to go out and have fun with us.

While Katniss is in the training center searching for her signature weapon to prove to the capitol that she can overcome this obstacle, she finds out just how challenging it will be to win the capitol and president snow over. Katniss' Approach was to prepare herself for all of the hardships she will have to face. She will be able to find her strength from her mentor, family, and the other person chosen for district twelve- Peeta. After Katniss and Peeta are able to meet and chat with their mentor, Haymitch they set out on their journey on the hunger games. Katniss and Peeta are separated just like every other district. All of the victors whom are full of distress, wait anxiously for the countdown to enter the arena. While waiting Katniss is scanning the scene looking around at who could possibly be her Allies. Once the clock hits zero Katniss races to find supplies. After a restless run in the woods and several confrontations Katniss is exhausted and tries to find a safe spot to take a break. Katniss dozed off and when she wakes she finds that she is covered camouflaged with leaves. She also noticed a bow and arrow laid next to her which luckily for her was her signature weapon. She then nervously looks around trying to put two and two together. Who would be so kind to bring her some materials and cover up to ensure her safety? She heard some rustling noises around a tree and carefully walks over there to find the Trickster, Rue from district 11. Katniss cautiously approaches Rue confirming that she would not be harmed. Katniss and Rue began to form a friendship. Rue looked up to Katniss and Katniss looked to Rue as a little sister. They both have an equal amount of admiration for each other. Shortly after Rue's death, it is announced that two victors may be crowned if both originate from the same district.
As the famous screenwriter, Danny Boyle, once said, “That survival instinct, that will to live, that need to get back to life again, is more powerful than any consideration of taste, decency, politeness, manners, civility. Anything. It’s such a powerful force.” In The Hunger Games, the main character, Katniss Everdeen, has many strong characteristics, like her survival instincts. Because of these instincts she constantly protects and provides for the ones she cares for. In Suzanne Collins’ novel, The Hunger Games, the overarching theme is if people rely on their instincts they can survive anything, proven by Katniss Everdeen’s survival tactics before the Hunger Games, during the first few days of the Games, and after she finds another character,
“You’ll never leave” is carved faintly into the brick wall of the small jail cell, probably from its last guest. Every day, I started to believe the phrase more and more. I lay on the uncomfortable cot, pretending to be asleep. I’m lonely, but I’m not alone. I can hear him breathing and slowly flipping the pages of the newspaper; I assume it’s Mr. Heck Tate.
In the novel Hunger Game, author Suzanne Collins narrates a girl name Katniss Everdeen who voluntarily replaces her younger sister, Prime, to be one of the tribute to participate in the hunger game. She is the family’s backbone after her father died in the mine accident and then the district only gives them a little compensation which it’s not enough for her family’s living. Soon, they run out of money and suffer from hunger. They live in the District 12 where it’s a poor and food shortage region. People often suffer from hunger and Katniss is of no exception. In one section of the story, Katniss could not trade old baby clothes for food or find food from trash bins. She is extremely hungry, until she passes by a bakery:
“We could go you know… leave the district. Run off. Live in the woods. You and I we could make it.” Katniss immediately thought about how ‘preposterous’ the idea was because of how risky it was.
When Katniss has her call to adventure she did have thoughts about running away, yet releases that she would cause more danger to her family. So she willingly accepts the dangers of the journey she is to embark on and not refuse the call to adventure as she does everything in her willpower to keep her sister from harm, even if that includes sacrificing herself.
... middle of paper ... ... In this moment, Katniss expresses her underlying need for intimacy. At the same time however, she knows that martyrdom in defiance of The Capitol will spark a revolution amongst the districts, so she chooses independence from the system over a relationship with Peeta.
In Suzanne Collin’s novel, The Hunger Games, the protagonist, Katniss Everdeen, undergoes several changes over the course of the story. This novel is about a nationally televised event called The Hunger Games. Every citizen must watch as the youth fight to death until only one remains, Katniss’ sister, Prim, is chosen as a tribute to fight in the games but Katniss refuses to let her sister fight and volunteers to take her spot. At the beginning of the novel, Katniss is fearful and unsure of herself. While she illustrates bravery when she volunteers as tribute in place of her Prim, she has little confidence in her abilities. Despite her doubts, Katniss is determined to win the Games no matter the cost, even if she has to kill Peeta (Baker’s son from District 12). By the end, she has gained a new respect for human life. She states that she no longer hates Cato (Male Tribute from District 2) because he is only a tool of the Game, they are all tools of the Game. Human life has taken a new importance for her. She shows this when she sings to Rue (12-year old female tribute from District 11) and adorns Rue with flowers after Rue dies and when she goes to help Peeta,
We stood and watched as the dark figures got out of the dusty cars and moved towards Atticus and Tom Robinson’s cell. I had a theory of what they were trying to do: kill the accused. It’s not common for a group of men to be going to the jail in the middle of the night dressed in such a way. I was sure that they wanted to commit an act of lynching when they put the sheriff into this. The men wanted Atticus to draw back, but I knew he isn’t that kind of person.
Fictional character, Katniss Everdeen is an anecdotal character and the hero of The Hunger Games trilogy created by author Suzanne Collins. Katniss and her family originate from a coal-mining district that is the poorest of all the districts, called District 12. Over the span of the Hunger Games trilogy, Katniss volunteers to take the place of her sister, Prim after she is selected as a contestant to compete in the Hunger Games, a broadcast battle that only has one victor. Katniss signs up with kindred District 12 tribute Peeta Mellark, where the pair contend in the Games together. Katniss utilizes her insight with bows and arrows to survive, and the two turn into the victors subsequent to challenging the Capitol 's endeavor to compel one to murder the other (Collins, 2009). Katniss turns into a stirring image of defiance to the harsh Capitol and leads a rebellion that eventually takes down the capital and puts an end to the annual Hunger Games (Jacobson, 2014).
Traits Katniss Everdeen is very determined. If she wants to do something, she tries until she achieves it. This is proved when Katniss wins the Hunger Games after she is told that she should try to win, by Prim, her sister and throughout the games she remembers these words and kind of uses them as her guide. She is also very strong in both mental and physical ways. Her worst character trait is that she lets kind people root into her, so if someone pretends to be kind she will let them root in which means she lets them know about her and becomes easygoing with them.
