I would like to introduce my sister Kathy Sayanaly, She is an outgoing person in her own unique way, “in a crowd of people she’ll easily stand out with her humorous remarks in her blunt opinion”. Now let’s go through her journey that she struggled with, she first started off at Lincoln High School but she only stayed for about 2 months until she moved to Morse High School. Starting from there she played softball for only her 9th grade year which was in 2009. She struggled so much with the work they gave her because in class she didn’t really focus. There was a time where she wanted to become a graphic/animation designer but her dreams got put off to the side because in her senior year she didn’t graduate the first year. My sister struggled
with so many things including graduating, she didn’t get to graduate with most of her friends. My parents, sisters, and my family was disappointed that she didn’t graduate and they told her that when she go to high school for another year that she won’t graduate. So that is what motivated her to actually try she wanted to prove everyone wrong. It was 2013 and she decided to actually try her best because she didn’t want to stay at high school another year. She started paying attention in class and actually do her work, she didn’t slack off as she normally would. Finally it was time for her to take the end of the year test and she was afraid she wouldn’t pass it. She studied for a whole week before the SAT’S, when it finally came to that day, She thought to herself that she could do it. It was now 2014 and she graduated high school, she was proud of herself because she walked onto the stage with a cap and gown on. As for colleges my sister was offered a scholarship for a graphic/animations academy but my sister passed it off because she wasn’t into that anymore. So she didn’t apply to any colleges because she was afraid that she won’t get accepted she just went to a community college. She stayed for about 3 years and a half, she stopped going to the college because she found it challenging and she didn’t want to put pressure on herself like she did back in high school. When she stopped going she had a lot of free time, so she started getting back into the habits of drawing and she loved drawing back in high school. After a few years, she regret not taking the scholarship because she now realize that she wants to be living that dream. Well for now my sister is 23 years old she doesn’t go to any colleges at the moment, she doesn’t have a job because she doesn’t want one right now, and she doesn’t have her driver’s license. She wanted to get a job and her driver’s license but she hasn’t exactly have the right time to do it. For the past few years after her leaving college she has been staying home and taking care of our grandma and pet dog. I had an amazing time interviewing my sister, i got to know more about her past life then i haven’t been able to know

At any point in time, someone’s world can be turned upside down by an unthinkable horror in a matter of seconds. On June 20th, 2001 in a small, suburban household in Houston, TX, Andrea Yates drowned her five children in a bathtub after her husband left for work. The crime is unimaginable, yes, but the history leading up to the crime is just as important to the story. Andrea Yates childhood, adulthood, and medical history are all potent pieces of knowledge necessary to understanding the crime she committed.
Imagine a time where there is a ''Man's job'' and a ''Women's job'', well that's how it was for Phyllis Lose, the first female equine veterinarian, in 1957. (First) Though she faced many difficulties entering this field she didn't give up and that's what allowed her to reach her goals. Phyllis Lose's work is inspirational because she changed the world of veterinary medicine, empowered girls to enter a ''man's field'' of work, and showed great strength by not giving up in order to reach her goals.
In the book Difference Matters, Brenda J Allen, begins writing about how gender matters in society. One of the main topics that she talks about is how in today’s society the male gender is the more predominate gender. As the reader, she has brought to mind many new ways to view how males earn more money then females, how we classify jobs as masculine or feminine, and also how society excepts males’ vs females to act and preform in the work force.

I was very excited when I heard that I had been invited into National Junior Honors Society. The first time I heard of NJHS, it instantly became a goal of mine. When my older sister left for college I was very sad, so I think that this is a way for me to keep a part of her. I have always been that little girl no one understood, because I’m always very excited to learn and get back to school after summer break. I’m very happy to see that I’ve been invited, but this is why I should be accepted.

Alicia Garza is a modern day Black History hero in the making. Alicia is the cofounder of the world renowned movement called #BlackLivesMatter. This movement all started with a hash tag on a social media post that Alicia had posted herself after the verdict of the Treyvon Martin case. This movement has inspired thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of people across the world to stand up for black lives and rights for minorities in general. This movement does not single out just black lives but it includes all people of color and sexual orientation. Alicia is an inspiration to me because she has given birth to a greater voice. This voice is not just one person but many at one time. This voice fights for equality for people of color no matter
The purpose of this research project is to see who is considered a feminist, and why, in the eyes of three women and three men. To see what they believe the behaviors, ideologies, beliefs, and values of a feminist is. The participants have been interviewed and given questions towards feminism found in the textbook "The Psychology of Women" by Margaret Matlin. I chose to do this particular study because there seems to be a lot of controversy about just the word feminism. There are so many mixed beliefs about it. This seems like the perfect study to really see what women and men think about it, at least six participants think about it.
I never thought this day would come. I mean, I did know it was coming, but I just never thought it would be this soon. Since birth, Lina has been my older sister, my companion, my confidant, and moreover, my best friend. As years passed, I acknowledged that we were getting older, and that the date of her departure was getting closer, yet, I did not want to believe it. Since last year, she had been in the exhausting process of applying to universities, and by the end of May, the University of New Orleans (UNO) granted her with a generous scholarship. With a smile full of pride and amazement, she accepted the scholarship and reserved her space in the Psychology field in the UNO. Overshadowed by the great news of her scholarship, we failed to foretell the gloomy days that were close to arrive.
