From Slow Jamz to Roses to Stronger to Paranoid to Runaway to On Sight to Wolves to I Thought About Killing You to Follow God to Moon to Stars, Kanye shows that he is ever-changing and is always evolving his music, style, fashion, and more. All of these songs are completely different tones and genres, changing from progressive rap, experimental rock rap, pop, gospel, and more. According to The Cut, Kanye was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2016 and divorced his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, in 2022 (Schwiegershausen). Kanye’s bipolar disorder has changed every action and outbreak he has. He was diagnosed with bipolar disorder after a “psychiatric emergency” in which he broke down crying, telling his fans that he would exist on Earth if it wasn’t for his mom and that his dad wanted him aborted. Since then, he has been very public about his manic episodes and such, even going as far as tweeting and performing about them. After his diagnosis, we saw the biggest change in his music, fashion, and personality. Fans initially saw this abrupt path change in his music work when he announced and canceled albums. This was all because he had simply changed his mind about what style or tone he
I was twelve when I first heard the name “Kanye West”. He was featured in a song I rather liked at the time called “Forever” and whilst discussing the song with my friend one afternoon I remarked:
Kanye Omari West, rapper, producer, professional celebrity, and with an ego to match, has forced himself into the limelight of the music industry. Kanye West has made a lasting impression on all of those around him, whether it be a good one or bad. With seven full length albums, a multimillion record label company, and a successful fashion business all under his belt, it’s fair to say that Kanye has done his fair share of creating. Over the last twelve years Kanye went from a young Chicago kid just trying to get his flows off, to one of the most decorated musicians of all time. With over 20 Grammy’s and 3 of his albums ending up on the Rolling stones “500 greatest albums of all time”. He has continuously created, entertained, and spoken his mind for years. Whether it be “George Bush does not care about black people” or “Taylor imma let you finish, but Beyoncé had

“Kanye Ran onto the stage saying, ‘I'm sorry, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!’” (Top 10 Outrageous Kanye West Moments), says Kanye West at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards after Taylor Swift had just won “Best Female Video.” People that are like this have typically not always been this way. They were probably raised as a polite and respectful person before they were exposed to fame and fortune, and other “celebrities,” making them feel like they are the only people on the planet. Causing them to do things like that. Although, Kanye West is an amazing musician based on his 14 Grammy Awards and multiple albums going “Double-Platinum” (Manheim, James M., and Carol Brennan). He fell victim to fame and fortune, and turned into an arrogant and overconfident person making him more popular and praised among media. But looked down upon by everyday people. Kanye Omari West, born on June 8th, 1977, is a world famous rapper who, like all other celebrities, started out like a nice person who made nice music for nice families to listen to. West was a confident and competitive person even as a child, “He was determined even then to get out of his crib and be free, even if he split his head in the process—and he did. He has fought ever since to do exactly what he wanted to do—no matter what,” says Donda West, his mother in her book, Raising Kanye: Life Lessons from the Mother of a Hip-Hop Superstar. By the time West was ten, he was already creating his own raps, and according to the people around him, he was pretty good at it even at that young of an age. (Manheim, James M., and Carol Brennan) West was not too interested in school as he grew up, but he was able to get by because of his talent. If he dropped out of one ...
Michael Jackson was born on August 29, 1958, in Gary Indiana. His parents were Katherine Jackson, and Joseph Jackson. Michael had 8 siblings, who all loved music. His mother stayed at home and took care of the household, while his father was a guitarist and crane operator. Katherine taught the children folk and religious songs daily. He grew up around music and learned many things from his brothers and father. Joseph Jackson thought that his sons were very talented; therefore, he helped shape them into a music group known as the “Jackson 5.” Starting out, it was just Michael’s older brothers, Tito, Jermaine, Jackie and Marlon. When Michael turned 5, he became the lead vocalist of the group. The group was very successful and became popular quickly. As a child, Michael was
Each of these three visions of modernity constructed by west are important, as “they reflect the challenges of contemporary culture and society.” Yeezus lives within the last of the three periods, in which West speaks back onto “the societal systems that seek to control, construct, and consume him.” In a discussion of West’s performance of “Black Skinhead” on Saturday Night Live, NPR Music reporter Frannie Kelley

One is tempted to attribute West’s immense success to great talent, and perhaps a love affair with luck. However let us not underestimate the power of a strong and steady self-esteem. Google defines self esteem as confidence in one’s own worth and abilities or self - respect. As we have seen Kanye West is never doubtful of his abilities as well as his opinions and the respect he
Kanye Omari West, an icon of hip-hop, pop culture, fashion and music in general. Kanye Omari West, a person belittled against and a person subjected to a life of racism and hate. Born on June 8th, 1977, Donda West, West’s mother, always knew he was destined for greatness, but did she know her son would turn out to be the Kanye West, a man lacking the respect he deserves for transforming a big part of the music we listen to on this very day? West came onto the scene in the late nineties but didn’t release The College Dropout until 2004, an album that took everybody by surprise. Kanye West changed the gangster filled rap genre by releasing his positive, soulful debut album, changing the way rappers dress, and paving the way for a whole new style of introspective lyrics and soul-inspired rap production in the mainstream.
Young Carter swung his way into rap at a youthful age as a departure from the drugs, savagery and destitution that encompassed him in the Marcy Projects. Jay wanted to better himself and did that by getting out of what is known as the “corner life lifestyle.” Be that as it may, despite the fact that he had a stage name, Jay Z remained generally unknown until he and two companions, Damon Dash and Kareem Burke, established their own particular record name, Roc-a-Fella Records, in 1996 (Rubin, 2015). In 1989, he joined the rapper Jaz-O—a more seasoned entertainer who served sort of like a mentor that guided to record a song called "The Originators," which won the pair an appearance on a scene of Yo! MTV Raps. It was right when Shawn Carter grasped the nickname Jay Z, which was at the same time a tribute to Jaz-O, a play on Carter's adolescence nickname of "Jazzy" and a reference to the J/Z tram station close to his Brooklyn home (Caramanica, 2012).
Throughout his career rapper Kanye West, has been portrayed as many different things in the media based on his public appearance and the subject matter of his music. The message he relates in his music is ever changing and often showcases different ideals or stances on issues echoed among different parts of the African American community. Two such instances of this come from very different periods of Kanye’s career, and show two polar opposite opinions of how to deal with arguably the most important social issue in American history. This change in Kanye’s way of dealing with racism reflects two differing schools of thought in the African American community. Although early in Kanye’s career his music identified the racial inequality problems in society, as of late he has gone beyond simply Identifying the problems and has repeatedly said through his music that he will stand up and fight back when he is unfairly mistreated.
Kanye West has been an icon in American hip-hop culture for over a decade. His music, fashion line, producing skills, and flamboyant personality has influenced many people for generations to come. Coming out of Chicago, many people in the music industry didn't even think Kanye had a chance to become a figure in hip-hop, but his hard work and persistence paid off. Kanye started off his music career as a producer. He produced music for the likes of major artists such as Common and Jay-Z. His first major breakthrough came from producing Jay-Z’s “The Blueprint”— which is certified 2x platinum. Kanye believed he could be a successful rapper as well, but music executives didn't believe he had it in him. That all changed when Roc-A-Fella records signed Kanye to their label, and gave him a chance to shine as a rapper. Kanye’s background, critical analysis, and importance all shows that he has become one of the most important characters in American hip-hop culture to this day.
