Kamehameha was an effective leader because he was caring. When he went to kill Keawemauhili people he was almost killed got killed. From this experience he created a new kapu called the “The Splintered Paddle” or mamalahoe to punish people who did robbery and murder with death. This kapu was a new kapu. This experience resulted in a kapu that made everyone feel safe.
