I’m familiar with Kalief Browder case because I discussed the legal issues involving the case in my criminal justice class, he was a teenager who was arrested mistaking for another person, accused of stealing a backpack, for a witness, he voluntary went to the precinct as per the police officer request and was arrested and sent to Rikers Island correctional facility , everything, denied bail because he was in probation , back and forth from court because the attorney, prosecutor and judge didn’t agree with a specific date to provide the evidence. He was claiming to be innocent at all times but he didn’t have a good legal representation, his lawyer never visit him in jail, as punishment he was in solitary confine for 2 years consecutives, …show more content…
All the trauma suffering for this young male ends for him to make a decision to take his own life hanging himself in his own house , unfortunately this time he actually succeed and died.
The Milgram obedience study was an example of the effect that can cause to be in prison/ jail, how officers used their power to abuse inmate, to feel that their in control. The time he spend in solitary confine transform him a distance and lonely and disconnect person who will need help to reintegrated in society and been able to function normally. His was depressed due to compare himself with his friends form high school, which was able to graduate on time and were college ready. He was seeing himself at a worthless, without education, job, money, leaving with his mother at his ages when he was supposed to have his own place already.
He was suffering from the side effect of been in jail and no one did absolutely nothing to help him, he was clearly in a deep depression, the flashback about his time in jail, was torturing him, he was need of mental health intervention. He was probably going through post-traumatic stress and depression and didn’t receive the proper treatment. This theme, prevalent throughout Ron Rash’s short story, The Ascent, is demonstrated through Jared, a young boy who is neglected by his parents. In the story, Jared escapes his miserable home life to a plane wreck he discovers while roaming the wilderness. Through the use of detached imagery and the emotional characterization of Jared as self-isolating, Rash argues that escaping too far from reality can be very harmful to the stability of one’s emotional being.

Annually, 13.5 million people at some point and time spend time in prison or jail with approximately 95 percent of them ultimately returning to society (Gibbons et al., 2011). Taking the aforementioned statement into considerations the author believes that it is safe to say that what goes on behind prison walls effects all members of society. There was a girl who loved a boy truly, as it was her first love, and the boy was not paying attention to her. After a week, the girl calls the boy, asking him if she could hang out with him. Stanford Prison experiment demonstrated the psychology of police brutality. In the experiment, normal college students who acted like guardians were given clothes, sticks and sun glasses.They easily adjusted their roles and began humiliating , abusing the prisoners. Mean while the prisoners became submissive. Consequences of Stanford Prison experiment showed us how quickly normal people can become aggressive and act violently when they are given authority over others. Mark was the youngest of nine children. He lived in a three bedroom apartment. He dropped out of high school around the age of 14, during which he was in trouble with the law around 20-25 times. He had been dealing drugs and various other offenses. He even claimed to having been addicted to cocaine during this period. Things got worse when he was 16 years old. He attacked two Vietnamese men without provocation. He hit the first with a stick and he punched the second which permanently blinded him in the process. He was arrested and charged with attempted murder but the charge was later reduced to criminal contempt which was a maximum sentence of 10 years. After pleading guilty he ended up only staying in jail for 45 years.
