KWRII Scholarship Essay
As an environmental science major at Northern Kentucky University I have learned what careers are available to me after graduating. Although I do have many goals after I graduate I believe I can only achieve those if I succeed in my schooling. I take pride in the work I do in my courses and always strive to do great. I am always excited for new challenges I encounter during my career at Northern Kentucky University. I believe the courses I am enrolled in such as Advanced Writing in Environmental Science, Urban Geography, and Environmental Resource Management will help me tremendously when working to achieve my career goals. Advanced Writing in Environmental Science will help me learn how to write professionally in

I live in Ohio and my scholarships do not cover the metropolitan rate I pay at Northern Kentucky University, therefore I have to take out student loans to attend. I take out just enough to cover my tuition because I want to be in little debt as possible. This means that living on campus is not an option for me because that would cause me to take out almost double the amount of loans. I want to live on campus because most of my life is spent on campus as is. I work on campus, I am involved in the Environmentally Concerned Organization of Students, and I also ride horses for the Northern Kentucky University Equestrian Team. All of that time plus the time I am in class adds up to a lot. I know if I lived on campus I would be able to spend even more time in student activities and groups on campus. The most attractive part of the scholarship is the guaranteed job after graduation. This would make graduation a very easy process. I wouldn’t have a constant worry of my future. Even though I do live in Ohio now I would definitely be able to move and work at the Kentucky Department of Environmental Protection for as long as I am welcomed. I am very excited to be able to just have the opportunity to apply to this scholarship and I look forward to hearing about the possible next steps to take to have this
In high school I was involved in 3 clubs, 3 varsity sports, and did a least 40 hours of community service through National Honors Society and National Technical Honors Society. I participated in National Technical Honors Society and Health Occupations Students of America(HOSA) through Lapeer County Education and Technical center, and participated in athletics at Imlay City high school. During my high school career I played varsity volleyball for two years, varsity basketball for one year, and varsity soccer for four years, but I jumped back and forth from junior varsity to varsity my freshman year. Also, while being apart of HOSA I was a junior representative my junior year of high school, and I am Vice-President my senior year. And I also mentor our middle school chapter of HOSA and help them to accomplish all of their competitive events.
The AMGEN Summer Scholars research experience will contribute to my plans to become a M.D./Ph.D. candidate, and ultimately an Oncologist, by helping me develop critical and independent thinking as well as creative skills as they relate to the field of medicine. It will also help me develop a more thorough understanding of biological concepts, how they directly apply to medical treatment, and the ways in which biotechnology fuses multiple fields of science to create technologies to care for others. The opportunity to assist in creation of the technologies that will be used on my future patients will ultimately improve my ability to treat their illnesses in adaptive ways. The opportunity I would have to read, interpret, and be a part of creating
Akzia: After the Germans invaded Lvov and made several changes, rumors spread throughout the town of an akzia, which is Polish for the deportation and killing of a group of people. The first akzia in Lvov was for children, which made Aurelia too upset and anxious to do anything. Her dad had already started to build a hiding place for her in a wardrobe. One morning, she woke up to outside shrieks signaling the akzia; Aurelia’s first reaction was to hide. When the Nazis came to search the house, Aurelia’s dad, Isaac, told them that she was already taken, but that did not stop them from searching. They were very close to finding her, but lucky did not. Later on, there were a couple more akzia; there was one for the elderly, and two akzia for all Jews, which the Gamzer’s luckily escaped.
Throughout high school I have dreamed of having the opportunity to attend Indiana University. I have a true passion for babies. I love to learn how babies are developed and how they become such an amazing part of the world. Therefore, I would like to apply to Indiana University and pursue a degree in Pediatric Nursing. I would love to be able to deliver babies and deliver new life into this earth. There are several opportunities available for me to get involved with new leadership opportunities. I want to be able to be a leader for all age groups.
What are you going to be missing if you decide to commute rather than living on campus? Many people consider college to be an unforgettable experience that will only happen once. College offers unique experiences such as football games, parties, and concerts that many will not be able to participate in after their college years. Living on campus also allows you to access the school’s library and labs to help you finish your work quicker. It also allows you to be more in touch with your professors and classmates for any questions you may have. The freedom and experience gained from college will also help you take your first step in adulthood. If you live on campus you start to make your own decisions and payments that your parents used to make for you. However, many students are not ready to live on their own and make those decisions. They quickly become homesick and their grades fail because they are too occupied with things that they are used to their parents doing. Many times kids who live on campus began losing touch with their siblings and parents because they only come home on major holidays like Christmas or Thanksgiving. It all depends on the person, if you are ready to take on a bigger responsibility or continue to have your parents do the adult things until you have
I agree with Gary Gutting in the article “What Is College For?”. I agree that college is a place for students to discover dimensions of knowledge that they would otherwise never know existed without attending. College should not be a place students go to just to pass their classes and earn a degree. I believe that college is about students discovering themselves as people and figuring out what kind of role they play in society. My first semester of college has been rough so far and I now see the reason so many people told me to live on campus. Living at home, I feel that I am not able to fully have a real college experience and make the connections with people I need. I hope to live on campus for a semester next year in hopes of engaging more
My best friend, Michael, and I were recently shopping around trying to determine where we were going to live starting in the fall next school year. We both spent this last semester on campus to fulfil Georgia Southern’s first-year requirement and both of us would be quick to agree that it definitely had its pros and cons. Before we started, we sat down and took a look at what on-campus and off-campus housing had to offer using a cost-to-benefit ratio. While living on-campus is great in the fact that you are able to walk to class faster, you are located closer to the meal hall, and you have the ability to go to the library without searching for a parking spot; due to the tolls it takes financially, socially, and personally in regards to schoolwork and grades, living on-campus is an issue that I feel is a huge factor in low grades. Off-campus housing, due to the wide variety to choose from, is capable of providing students with the freedom they need in order to be their own person, the ability to hide away in your room when it’s time to study or visit one of the many amenities provided by the community when they feel like being social, and they provide all of this at a mere fraction of the cost of on-campus housing even when factoring in utilities, food, and gas.
Kakadu National Park is the largest national park in Australia, located in the Northern Territory, Australia (coordinates 12°25'16"S, 132°40'23"E). It is 171km South East of Darwin and is 19,804km2. Kakadu was named after the mispronunciation of Gaagudju- a aboriginal language formally spoken on the northern side of the national park. Established around 1978, Kakadu was founded during a time when the Australian community was becoming more and more interested in the conservation of Australia and wanted to declare several areas as national parks. It's one of four Australian sites listed on the World Heritage List under both the natural and cultural category
The cost of out of state is too much to be a full time college student. Although some families make an average amount of money that would seem to not need any help with their college funds, their finances really do. My family is a prime example; we have five kids in my family including myself. The two oldest kids, my older brother and I both attend college and mine happens to be out of state. Take a look at the numbers; it takes a toll on what a single parent spends per year. My father works very hard for his money and I don't want him to use his money on me getting an education and cheerleading for an awesome college. I want it to m...
Tuition over the years have made it the struggle for students and their parent to make ends meet. The dorms cost a lot that make it payment really high. Living off campus would make life so much easier for parents and myself because the cost of the school would not cost as much as it does living in the dorms. The school should let students live off campus if they have 2 or more people living with them. If the school did let students live off campus I feel like they should be able to have room checks just like they do in the dorms. If the parents of the students let them live off campus the school should be able to let them do it too. Because really the parents of the students have more authority over the school. I feel that now that a lot of the dorms are getting broken into that it would be way safer to live off campus. That way I know that it is my responsibility if someone was to break into my house. If anything is broking into in our room even if it is locked I don’t think the school pays to get any of the stuff replaced. So living off campus can help students to have responsibility and become a real adult in the college

Students living on campus don’t have to worry about time because they live in the college. On the other hand, students who commute to school, have to worry about getting to class on time. Students living on campus don’t have to waste money on transportation or food since it is all covered under a plan. Unlike commuters, who aren’t covered under a plan, they have to pay more money to get to school as well as for food. Students who live on campus tend to know more people and they know more about what’s going on around campus. However, students, who commute, don’t have that advantage because they are home most of the time. Living on campus can be more beneficial than living at home in many ways.
Living the dorm life is something millions of college students look forward to every year. Thousands of kids get together in hopes of rooming with there best friends and living in a big building with a bunch of students their own age. Rightfully so, to a lot of people that sounds very appealing. The idea of living with people there own age and getting out of there parents’ houses and into the real world is what brings people in. Small campus’ lack this experience, your only option is to then either stay home with mom and dad, or work your but off to live on your own. This is something that makes bigger college campus’ a much more popular
A global citizen is that who is willing to use its voice and knowledge to make a change. No one would ever be able to make a change in just one day, it is something that takes time and devotion. I’m really interested in diversity and I’m seeking to what is my role is as a world citizen. The fact that I’m searching for an international education is the proof of my desire to establish myself as a global citizen and my interest in the world issues.
Overall though, I feel that for incoming freshman, it is clear that the alternative options would not be as beneficial to their academics and that none of the other residence options have the same variety of benefits as living in a campus dorm community. After comparison I believe living in the college dorms is the best option.
