In 2007, Fox searchlight released Juno in Canada and United States of America as a comedy-drama directed by Jason Reitman. The film became hugely successful earning Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and Oscar nominations: Best Picture and Best Actress for Ellen Page (Juno-film: www.wikipedia.org). The film written by Diablo Cody depicts a story of female character name Juno MacGuff, with an unexpected pregnancy leading her into an adoption rather than an abortion. The decision leads remarkable change of her surrounding life in family and school. As the movie received numerous positive feedbacks, but the movie also portrays controversial issues such as rational decision of pro-life vs. pro-choice, consequence of unprotected sexual relationship of teens, and reality of parents’ reaction. The initial purpose of the film is purely in terms of entertainment for teenagers and the family members to wonder what they will do, if a similar circumstance arises. Whether, there was a hidden message in the film or not it’s questionable. Regardless, of what the original intention of Cody, it is more beneficial for the school as an institute not to cause any potential agreement issues by advocacy towards adoption, lacking coverage of protection methods of sexual intercourse, and depiction of parents’ easy reaction to the incident. Although, it may provide some benefits in limited aspects of the field, the loss of schools’ credibility will be much higher than gain of usage of this film as education curriculum.

The movie has the strict distinction between usage for entertainment and education. The school has the strict distinction between positive and negative impact it occurs on students and organization.

In fact, had John actually been accompanied by his parents, the theatre would have had every right -- some would even say responsibility -- to refuse his admission. The printing of the NC-17 rating often does not read -- as would be reasonable -- "Intended for Adults Only" but rather the more rigid "Not to be Attended by Children Under Seventeen.

The primary purpose portrayed through Quindlen’s writing is the complete and all-encompassing celebration of life. Quindlen is not supporting or denying a women’s right to choose whether or not she should have an abortion. Here we find a sole voice crying out to the masses. Those who have not been placed in such a predicament and are confronted with someone who has seen or experienced both sides of the issue and is seemingly trying to encourage these young people to think wisely about the main issue that is being confronted. Her primary purpose is proven to be true because of the strategies that she uses.
Pro life vs. pro choice is a very sensitive subject to argue among a crowd. A large number of advantages and disadvantages leave individuals in an uproar while explaining their stance. Views on religion, myths, and unfit mothers show different arguments to each opposing side. Alternatives to abortion and the future aspects have shown many different pieces about pro life and pro choice. To start, pro life arguments will be stated along with the writer’s opinions. Finally, the writer’s opinions on the subject following pro choice disputes. This provides a clear understanding between the two opposing topics.
Anger and heated debate have long fueled the controversy over abortion. Whether pro-life or pro-choice, both sides of the argument are convinced of the righteousness of their beliefs. There is, however, some confusion surrounding the term “pro-choice” – it does not directly pertain to the spread and use of abortion, but rather, “pro-choicers” advocate the continued legalization of abortion in order to make the choice available and to ensure that women’s fundamental rights are not subjugated. The stance that abortion should be available has its roots in economic concerns, psychological evidence, moral dilemmas, and the Constitution.

Students can present their chosen issues through role plays or an oral presentation to their peers.

I have chosen to review the film Boyhood written by Richard Linklater that took twelve years to film. In the movie Boyhood, it illustrates the life of a boy named Mason Jr. through the many stages of his childhood to adolescence to becoming an adult. The movie follows Mason Jr.’s life through his years of kindergarten, middle school, high school, and to college. Through these milestones in his life encounters society with socialization, culture and norms that are exhibited through his family, friends, and others. One of the most controversial issues in this day and age is the stance people take on abortion. The two main positions that people take are either of pro-choice or pro-life; both sides, although polar opposites, tend to refer to both the issue of morality and logical rationale. The pro-life side of the debate believes that abortion is an utterly immoral practice that should be abolished. On the contrary, abortion should remain a legal procedure because it is a reproductive right; its eradication would not only take away the pregnant person’s autonomy, but would also put more children in financially unstable homes and the adoption system, and would cause an increase in potentially fatal, unsafe abortions.
Non judgmental and Compassion was a message in this movie. If more people would have compassion for others we would live in a better world. It is important to be non judgmental because people never know what happens in a person's life to cause them to act out in a certain way. Mrs. Erin Gruwell’s students were separated along racial lines and had few aspirations beyond street survival. Many people warned her that her students were all criminals who couldn’t be taught. With all odds stacked against her, she accepted the teaching position at Wilson High School.
