Define the word leadership can be a perplexing endeavor, due to the varying context that the term leadership can be associated with. This is especially difficult when trying to put it in your own words. To me, leadership, or one who is placed in a leadership role, is one who leads by example, and does not refrain from making and owning decisions regardless of results or consequence. Further, leadership traits are inherent, and cannot be learned; either you have them or you don’t. With that said, the results of my Jung Typology Test is the same as always, I am a INTJ (Introvert-75%, iNtuitive-28%, Thinking-91%, Judging-75%) personality type. and a prefer a systematic, conceptual approach to learning. My communication style also more geared toward conceptual, and is hindered by fast-paced communication with poor logic. The results of my brain dominance concurs with my typology. I am left brain dominant, which equates to a more logical, pragmatic, detailed oriented persona. My strength and weakness profile also coincides with my personality type, and my brain dominance. I scored very high in categories such as strategic thinking, and innovation. I have been aware of my personality type for a long time, but I when placed in a leadership role, I have to explain to my subordinate why I seem aloof. My personality type does not allow for show of emotion, and that sometimes come across as a lack of interest. But if I make myself clear of my personality type up-front, the misunderstandings are usually avoided.
Within the Jung Typology Test (JTT) it states that my type of personality is introverted, sensing, feeling and judging. The results indicated I am an introvert over extrovert, the score showed 56%. There was a marginal or no preference to sensing over intuition at 1% for this result. Moderate preference to feeling over thinking at 25%, and a strong preference to judging over perceiving at 78%. So this is saying that I am an introverted sensing with extroverted feeling.
The intent of taking a personality test is to determine which of the sixteen personality types a person belongs. Knowing your personality type can help you explore suitable occupations and careers (“Jung Typology Test”, 2017). It can also help determine which communication and learning styles suit you best (“Jung Typology Test”, 2017). The results of my Jung Typology Test revealed that I am an ISTJ. My percentages are 28% introverted, 28% sensing, 25% thinking, and 62% judging. Based on my personality type, I am one of four personality types that fall under the guardian temperament. From my research, I hope to learn more about my personality type and how I can use it to my advantage as I progress along my Air Force career.
Personality testing is very interesting in that there are some things you know about yourself and others you do not. I have always been the one with the plan, take charge and make it happen. Many times my family wants to just not have a plan and that makes me uncomfortable. My type A personality coupled with the need for organization and structure at times gets in the way of creative inspiration. Not just at work but in my daily life in general. Being an introvert at nearly 50% this would explain why. The most shocking score I received was the feeling vs. thinking. It is an online questionnaire which uses a series of 64 multiple choice questions with a set of scalar options with “uncertain” in the middle to calculate what traits best represent you and by what percent.
