Romeo, the lovesick 16 year old who falls in love with his enemies daughter, Juliet. He is 16 years old and lovesick. He is the only son of the Montague’s. Romeo is a static character who displays sensitive, lovestruck, and immature traits throughout the play which affect the other characters negatively. Romeo and Juliet was written by William Shakespeare. This play is about a boy and a girl whose families are enemies. Then later on they meet and falls in love. It is a forbidden love. We first see Romeo as sensitive when his first love does not love him. Rosaline refuses to give up her virginity so she does not want to be with Romeo any longer. Later we see that he morns on-very the death of Mercutio. Then soon after he thinks his love, Juliet, is dead he kills himself so he does not have to live his life without her. “Griefs of mine own lie heavy in my breast, which thou wilt propagate, to have it pressed with more of thine” (I, i 177-179). When Romeo goes to the festival that the Capulet’s hold, he meets Juliet and instantly falls in love with her even though she is the enemies daughter. Also when Romeo leaves the festival he goes back to the Capulet’s house to see if he can find Juliet, so he can express his love to her. Romeo is so in love with Juliet that he will kill himself for her. “Can I go forward when my heart is here? Turn back, dull earth, and find thy center out” (II, i 1-2).
