Julie of the Wolves

Julie of the Wolves is a realistic fiction novel by Jean Craighead George. This novel is about a thirteen year old eskimo girl that is lost in the wilderness and is fighting to survive. She runs away because she was married off by her father to a boy named Daniel and she doesn’t want to marry him so she runs away and she tries to reach Point Hope in San Francisco. She communicates with wolves and finds her long lost father. Julie of the Wolves is about a girl named Miyax who never gives up.
Miyax demonstrates a theme of never giving up in many ways. Miyax never gives up when she can't communicate with the wolves. She can’t get the wolves attention and she doesn't know what the wolf is thinking but she never gives up and …show more content…

The point of view gives us a very broad reason why she ran away. All that the book says was Daniel made her run away. If this novel was in first person then Miyax would have probably given us many reasons on why she never gave up on getting away from Daniel(George 10).When Jello eats all her food and she tries to regain everything she had lost. Jello one of the wolf pups eats all her food the narrator only says that Miyax was mad and furious. If it was first person Miyax would have probably told us what she was feeling when she was destined to regain her supplies.(George 114) When her father kapugen shot at the wolves her objective was to get herself and the wolves to safety. When the plane was still in the range of shooting Miyax would scream at the wolves to stay still and try to remain unseen. She tripped Kapu to make it seem like the plane had shot him and she never gave up on trying to save the wolves. The point of view was a critical part in the story as well as the character, the conflicts. Julie of the Wolves is a novel about a thirteen year old girl named Miyax who never gives up. The character relates to the theme because she is one of those characters who never gives up even at the worst times.The conflicts never let her giving up because at the darkest times they show a little bit of light to help keep going.
