The perspectives of how people view society and the world has been based on gender. Some would say that men are the dominate ones over the years and continue hold the primary power. Others believe that women are evolving and gaining the recognition that they deserve; they are becoming more superior than men. In the next thirty years, people would agree with Brooks’ prediction of discrimination against women will diminish. However, I would disagree with prediction because there still need to be changes for women to obtain equality and the perpetual discrimination against women. To begin with, the lack of changes for women in today’s society still unsolved. Women are still expected to be a housewife and be submissive to their husband. In “I Want A Wife,” Judy Brady explains the reasons to why she wants a wife like most men do. This shows how women are expected to act and how they are seen in a man’s view. This is how men still perceive them as a stay-at-home mom who cooks for their husband and are not in power of their household. With their success and better grades in academic subjects, the likely chance of discrimination against them will decline because this proves that women will have a higher chance of succeeding. David Brooks asserts, “Girls may, on average, do better at these things” (28). The implication of this points out that girls have outdone boys in education and continues to grow. This will lead to women superiority and wipe out the oppressive patriarchy that discriminates women. However, they do not see that it takes more than a woman’s knowledge to have power. It takes tolerance and acceptance to get other, especially men, to realize that women have the same capability as men.
