Music has been important for human civilization for hundreds of years. People have used music to benefit themselves in many positive ways. As a result, it has helped to transcend language barriers between different cultures. It has given people a more common understanding of each other. Music communicates to just about everybody in some way. As someone who has listened to many various forms of music, I believe that I understand why music should be a part of everybody’s life: music works well as a bonding tool to make new friends, it stimulates the creative process in people, and is the perfect way to help lower stress in people’s lives. The first reason that music should be a part of everyone’s life is that it works well as a bonding tool to make new friends. From the times that people gathered in music halls listening to a performance from Beethoven. To current times where people logon to YouTube, to listen to live music on their computers sharing their opinions with each other. Music has always been around to facilitate people helping them forge that social barrier that usually a dividing gap. Music that is shared acts as a bridge to bring people together as one allowing for more social communal ties, bringing down social and racial barriers that normally divide. I come from a generation that helped to bring to the mainstream rap music. Personally I don’t very care for that type of music. However, I believe that it has helped greatly in uniting the three races of Whites, Blacks, and Hispanics with a common understanding from listening to the same type of music. A couple of years ago I worked in a casual office with ten or so other people. Most of the others working there were White but a few of were African American. The diffe... ... middle of paper ... ... a higher importance on music will enrich people’s lives to have a more exciting longer lasting life. Without good music life would be a dull gray existence devoid of passion and excitement. Personally I would miss a life without the joys of musical notes surrounding my daily life. As the holiday season approaches, I would miss that felling of joy when gathering with family and friends if the iconic music that normally goes along with the holidays suddenly disappeared. Music is valuable to everybody in varying ways. For me music is an enriching experience towards maintaining my sanity while keeping a positive happy outlook on life and I believe that everybody should find some peace and joy in the sounds of music. I consider myself to be a fan of all types of music and I like to stay involved with the music world. Music is such an integral part of society in so many different aspects. Music defines time periods, brings back childhood memories, educates, relaxes as well as inspires. Stop and think for a moment if the music stopped, what would the world be like? A sudden silence overcoming the world. More realistically, stop for a moment and think what it would be like if you could not see your favorite band in concert.
If one were to look back into the world’s history, one would find that an important and consistent element is the world of music. Music has presented itself in various forms throughout its spread and through our identification of its magical realm, people have been fortunate enough to come across a means of relation. Whether it is blues and reggae or rap and pop rock, there is music out there for everyone. Music can serve as a stabilizer for some, a relaxant to others, and to many a form of inspiration.
Music has been around since the very beginning of time. The human body flows in a rhythmic syncopation. Music is used to change one’s mood and to inspire those who open their minds. It has the potential to cure diseases such as Parkinson’s disease. Humans, of every culture and society, function with a type of rhythmic music. As humans, we are hard wired to respond to music (Mannes). The human brain responds to music in such a way that the brain becomes more open to new rhythms, ideas, and values. Music has the power to take over the human body. This makes it easier to overcome conflict and change the ideals of somebody while using music (The Power of Music).
Since the earliest days of human civilization music has been a key tool for communication of stories which carried emotions through them. If we think back to our youngest years of life music has surrounded us whether it was from our parents singing us lullabies or from some sort of toy that played music we can say that musical melodies have helped shape or lives one way or another. Once we start growing up and figuring out who we are our musical preferences change; some people like classical and some like punk. We start to befriend people who like the same music as us and eventually we may attend a musical event. Our lives somewhat revolve around the music that we listen to.
...ncestors and why things are different now. People can learn a lot about their ancestors and things of the past through music. Music tells the stories of what happened in the past. It exposes what people have gone through to get to where things are now. Understanding the culture and history allows the people of today to become more appreciative of the things that the past generations have done to make things better. African Americans have endured a lot of hardships throughout history and it is important to know that and realize that people today do not have it as hard as they did. African Americans no longer have to experience things such as slavery and segregation because some of the black people of past generations were courageous enough to fight for equality. Although hatred and racism still exists, it is not as prevalent and boldly shown as it was in their time.
Even though, music plays a big part of our individual lives it also contributes to society
Music is a way for a person to get lost into sounds and harmony, weather its through ambient sounds or a vocalist telling a story. This allows music to have a power over us it allows us to go off to another place, a place where we can get lost into ones thoughts or express ourselves though dance. I believe music can be used to bring positive change throughout society by bringing groups of people together through mutual joy for a song or artist. There are numerous genres of music out there but one genre that has caught my attention is hip hop, most hip hop artist have faced some kind of struggle and their raps show how they over came it and have become what they are today. They create a positive influence by showing that no matter what you can
Music is one of the most fantastical forms of entertainment. Its history stretches all the way from the primitive polyrhythmic drums in Africa to our modern day pop music we listen to on our phones. It has the ability to amaze us, to capture our attention and leave us in awe. It soothes the hearts of billions, and it is so deeply rooted in my life that it has touched my heart as well. Everyday I walk to the beat of the song stuck in my head and hum along to the melody. For me, to listen to music be lifted into the air by the hands of your imagination and float around for a while. You forget about your worries, your troubles and find peace within the sound. Every chapter in my life is attached with a song. Every time I listen to a certain song, thoughts of my past come flooding back
Having music in your life is very important. Music is one of the most powerful things in the world today. Many people make a lot of money making music because of its popularity. It may not be the same genre of music, but everybody likes it. Personally music helps me from day to day. When I am stressed I listen to it to calm me down. When I am sad I listen to it to make me happy. When my spirit is down I listen to gospel to bring it back up. Without music I do not know what I would do. I believe that there is music for every person and problem they may have. It helps me, and I know it will help
Music plays a huge role in the structure of a society. It can have both negative and positive influence on cultures and communities. First, musical sounds and instruments can be a dividing factor between the people within the same culture. These opposing social and economic identities within these cultures can lead unnecessary animosity between the members. However, music can also be one of the forces that unite members of a culture and provide a sense pride for everyone. This makes it easier for people to display their identification to that culture.
Many take music for granted and just perceive it as a form of entertainment for centuries, but it is utilized for much more than just entertainment. From therapy to politics, it has been deemed useful for various reasons.
Music means many things to many people. Music has the power to transcend boundaries, motivate, inspire and influence our emotions among other things. Throughout my life music played an important role, especially during my more troubling moments. Many of my dearest and fondest memories are easily relived by merely listening to music. My musical tastes have changed as I have grown. During different time periods in my life my musical sensibilities provided the soundtrack that I lived by.
‘Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, and life to everything… Without music, life would be an error’ - Plato
“Music is enough for a lifetime, but a lifetime is not enough for music.” These were the words of Sergei Rachmaninoff, a Russian composer and pianist who was very influential in the twentieth century. Sergei’s perception of music was accurate because he understood the impact and significance music can have. Everybody knows what music is and they all have heard a form of it but most people underestimate the value and power music has in our everyday lives. Whether they know it or not music plays a vital role in the lives of people today. Music is a very efficient tool that influences and assists people, it plays a huge part in today’s society, and it had done so much for me as an individual.
Music is an essential part of life because of the expression it allows people to have, its entertainment, and its therapeutic ways for the world.
