Journal bearing is a type of bearing that supports the load by providing a plain surface which uses a lubricant to reduce the friction between the rotating and the stationary part. These types of bearings are also known as fluid film bearings because of the presence of a film of lubricant between shaft and bearing.
When the journal and bearing are in relative motion, the amount of eccentricity between two depends on the pressure generated in the lubricating film in order to balance the external loads. The load capacity of the journal bearing is dependent on the pressure generated which in turn is dependent on various factors like journal eccentricity, effective viscosity of the lubricant, the relative angular velocity, journal bearing geometry

Diametric clearance (c): It is the difference between the diameters of the bearing and journal. Mathematically it is given as c = D – d
The diametric clearance (c) in a bearing should be small enough to produce the necessary velocity gradient, so that the pressure built up in the lubricant can support the load. Small clearance also helps in reducing the flow rate due to side leakage in bearings. However, the allowance must be made for manufacturing tolerances in the journal and bushing.
II. Eccentricity (e): It is the radial distance between the center of the bearing and the displaced center of the bearing under load.
III. Clearance ratio: It is the ratio of diametric clearance to the diameter of journal.
IV. Minimum thickness of Oil film (ho): It is the minimum thickness of the lubricating oil film when the bearing is under operation. It is given by the minimum radial distance between journal and bearing and it occurs along the center line.
V. Attitude or eccentricity ratio (ε): It is the ratio of eccentricity to radial
3. As engine speed increases above engagement, the primary clutch squeezes together some more and pushes the belt so that it moves to a larger radius on the primary. Because the two clutches rotate about fixed points, the belt gets pulled into the secondary, spreading it farther apart and moving the belt to a smaller radius.
A connecting rod subjected to an axial load F may buckle with x-axis as neutral axis in the plane of motion of the connecting rod, {or} y-axis is a neutral axis. The connecting rod is considered like both ends hinged for buckling about x axis and both ends fixed for buckling about y-axis. A connecting rod should be equally strong in buckling about either axis [8].
Circular thickness: The distance of the arc along the pitch circle from one side of a gear tooth to the other
My results are not accurate enough to get a full curve of best fit because of the drag on the larger ball bearing as mentioned above.
Award-Winning author Laura Hillenbrand writes of the invigorating survival story of Louie Zamperini in her best selling book, Unbroken. Louie Zamperini was an ambitious, record-breaking Olympic runner when he was drafted into the American army as an airman during World War II. On the mission that led him to embark on a journey of dire straits, Louie’s plain crashed into the Pacific Ocean, leaving only him and two other crewmen as survivors. Stranded on a raft in shark infested waters, without any resources or food, and drifting toward enemy Japanese territory, the men now have to face their ultimate capture by Japanese, if they survive that long. Louie responded to his desperation with dexterity, undergoing his plight with optimism and confidence, rather than losing hope. In this memorable novel, Hillenbrand uses a vivid narrative voice to divulge Louie’s tale of endurance, and proves that the resilience of the human mind can triumph through adversity.
Unbroken is a book that has touched everyone that's read it in someway, Louie's can do attitude will leave us inspired to do more with our lives by the end of the book. Laura Hillenbrand tells us the life of tenacious Louie Zamperini, who went from an olympian to a living corpse to a man of God. Louie Zamperini was a troubled child who seemed to going on the wrong path, but once he started running he learned that he couldn't keep doing the things he used to do. Louie makes it to the olympics and comes in eighth. He is then drafted into the military where he becomes a bombarder. His plane crashed in the ocean where he was stuck at sea for 47 days. The Japanese captured him at sea and took him to a prisoner of war camp, he was torchered for two years till he was rescued. Even after he was rescued he was still not the same because of he had
Louie Zamperini; Olympic runner, American Bombardier, and former POW of Japan. It was thanks to his older brother that Louie ever ran in the Olympics and met Hitler. But after giving up on his dream of running in his second Olympics, it was his and his crews’ plane crashing into the pacific that really began Louie’s remarkable life story. Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand tells the unbelievable true story of reliant and dignified Louie Zamperini from Berlin to Japan to Los Angeles.
The temperature dependence of viscosity can be very strong; for example, in motor oil, η can diminish ten-fold with only a 10% increase in the absolute temperature. Therefore, if temperature is not uniform but varies with position in a flow, one cannot obtain a single value for its viscosity. The other dependence of viscosity, on shear rate, is a non-Newtonian property of some fluids; this effect is called “shear thinning” if η diminishes with increasing γ.31 Shear thinning can be avoided in an experiment by applying a small shear stress, so that conditions are relatively close to

...ads. The theory behind this is that a non-rotating tire has less traction than a spinning one. The ABS will allow the vehicle to stop faster than when the wheel is skidding and allow the driver to remain in control of the vehicle while it stops. With the technology today, there are sensors attached to the wheels to sense when one wheel is spinning at a different speed than another.
Third degree or total anchorage preparation was reserved for cases which had an ANB angle of more than or equal to 5° and the total discrepancy was 14- 20mm.
This article focuses on research that reveals the de-professionalization and democratization of traditional journalism. The article explores the consequences of both the relation between traditional journalism and citizen journalism. The author argues that the emergence of citizen journalism is a consequence of the current factors effecting the changes in traditional journalism. The lines between professional journalism content and amateur journalism content have become blurred. The author explains how these factors have shown to affect the field of journalism in areas of employment, media technologies, shifting patterns of media use, and media consumption.
