Could we as humans see ourselves in today’s world without phones or the internet? Does technology set us back from what we as humans are capable of or does it help us achieve even more? All These fundamental questions of human interaction with technology get explored in Joseph Kosinski’s Oblivion. This summer blockbuster witch stars the likeness of Tom cruise, Morgan Freeman, and Andrea Riseborough fowllos the mystery of who jack harper really is. Throughout, this movie we as viewers get face the conflict that due to technological advancements humans are driven to almost extension. “Can all this be regarded as an extension of our humanity, a performance upgrade, or is it a threat to the control of our own future? Are we fusing with technology or about to be replaced by it?” (Coker 24). One can come to the conclusion that Jack since being down and interacting with the planet otamatical has anxiady towrds Ai and advance tech as many humans in todays world do. As where Vicaotia since being above it all doesn’t have the insight to be cousios or queston why sally picture is always glutting in and out.In the same scenes of there reactions towreds tech that Jack and Victoria have. It's also brings up the point of there mind sets of this advance tech around them. Jack again shows a more humanist side to his character being delve in having alone time away from advance tech itself. In take 30 minetse in to the film shows Jack going to a little home he made him self next to a lake. in this take he plays basketball, listens to vinal records, a really becomes one with nature. Nick Jones states in his movie review that jack “wakes up over the course of the film to the scope of technology's influence on his life and thoughts. The Tet may be an alien invader, but it is explicitly computerised,an outsized HAL 9000 advanced enough to treat humans as manipulatable resources.” (Jones 291). this simply states that Jack slowly realizes his own ideanaty in this very tech base world. This awakening lets us as viewers think of our own relatisoship with tech and how big of a role it plays in our daily lives. In the case of the movie Jack is basically a slave to the Ai system and is only broken out when he is challenged to live with out it. This is a view in to the fear that humans ourselves fear technolagy due to the fact we think it one day can control us. This movie and Jack as a character is that fear and shows us that even being addicted to our cell phones and the internet as a means of entertainment is bad. Like jack we must be woken up to the fact that tech dose control our world today. Trough out this movie Joseph Kosinski’s shows the factors that we as humans face in this 21st centrary
