When thinking of Bon Jovi might think that they’d be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but you’d be surprised to know that the are not in fact in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Bon Jovi should be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because of the historical background of the group, of the award winning songs that they’ve wrote, and how they influenced other musicians. The historical background of how Bon Jovi became what they are today is quite a unique. Throughout their entire career Bon Jovi has sold over 120 million copies worldwide ("AllMusic Bon Jovi Biography."). Normally you’d think of Bon Jovi as a rock group, but in fact they have also made some other genres, one of them being country music ("AllMusic Bon Jovi Biography."). They got their name from the lead singer Jon Bon Jovi and he started the band back when he was only a janitor for a record station ("AllMusic Bon Jovi Biography."). Jon had …show more content…
Jon Bon Jovi, the lead singer, himself made adequate impressions on multiple musicians, one of the main musicians being Richie Sambora. Richie like typed earlier had been good friends with Jon for a long time and thought that they’d be good friends for a while, but later on they did fall apart("Bon Jovi: America's Ultimate Band."). Bon Jovi, back to the band, had also lots of influences on worldwide bands with them traveling to go perform in front of thousands of people and to get their show started, Bon Jovi had lower bands that they thought needed a chance be the opening band for the concert. The main reason for that being that Bon Jovi gave unknown bands a chance to take the spotlight (“Bon Jovi”). Even though Bon Jovi has been successful in their career and might possibly deserve to be inducted not all believe the that they should be

On November 7th, 1943, Joni Mitchell was born as Roberta Joan Anderson in Fort Macleod, Canada. Her family eventually moved to North Battleford and then Saskatoon; both of which are cities in the Saskatchewan providence of Canada. She considers Saskatoon, Canada to be her hometown. At the young age of nine years old, Mitchell contracted polio, but she managed to recover and regain her ability to walk after a stay in the hospital. Joni Mitchell’s interest in folk music began in her adolescent years. She was self-taught on how to play the ukulele and ultimately, the guitar. Mitchell started performing at parties and among the folk songs sang were some original ones she wrote herself. Thus, Joni Mitchell’s songwriter and singer career began. She, however, was more interested in pursuing art at the time.
Hip-hop music is my favorite genre of music because the way I grew up I can relate to a lot of the things it portrays. I also enjoy R&B and gospel music because it is what listened to as a child. Some hip-hop artist I enjoy are Fabulous, Andre 3000 and T.I. because a lot of their music tells a story and gives life lessons. J Cole is my favorite hip-hop artist because he makes great music, he is a philanthropist and he uses his platform to speak and act on social issues.
Billy Joel was born on May 9, 1949 in Bronx, New York. He moved at the age of four to a small town on Long Island. This is where at the ripe age of four he discovered the art of music. Originally a classical music fan, Billy Joel honed his skills with classical piano training. This undoubtedly has had a major influence on his life and certainly his music. Growing up Joel was a big fan of such greats as Ray Charles, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Otis Reading. He was greatly persuaded into a career of music when he saw the Beatles perform on the Ed Sullivan Show. Amusingly Joel's first band was inspired by the uncanny opportunity to meet girls. The band was called The Echoes, but this was not the best of times for Joel because his parents were involved in a messy divorce, which included serious financial shortcomings. Joel even began working professional music gigs at night to help support his mother. Joel's schoolwork suffered a little and he began missing school way too often. He was subsequently not allowed to graduate with his high school class due to the number of absences. After high school Joel immediately joined a very popular band called The Hassels for which he recorded two albums with. Within two years Joel was on to a new band which he named Attila, and featured heavy metal drummer Jon Small who he played with during his time with The Hassels. Despite the previous release of two albums Joel still needed to bring in more money so he worked many music related jobs and gigs. He even wrote a rock and roll criticism piece in a weekly column for a magazine.
There is no argument, Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley were the two biggest names of 1950s music. The men actually worked together in the “Million Dollar Quarter.” The success and his association with Phillips allowed Cash to join an elite group of artists that included Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, and Jerry Lee Lewis—they were known as "The Million Dollar Quartet." (Johnny Cash Biography, http://www.biography.com/people/johnny-cash-9240610?page=3) The two men helped redefine the music industry and are still today remembered for all they gave to the music industry.
AIDS is the one of the most devastating diseases known to man as of today. “At the EJAF (Elton John AIDS Foundation) we believe that AIDS can be beaten” (Elton). Elton John AIDS Foundation is one of the most well-known charities in it’s field and is well respected throughout the world. Elton John decided to start this organization after losing two of his close friends, Freddie Mercury and Ryan White, to the disease. The foundation was initially set up in the United States (New York) in 1992, and then the United Kingdom (London) in 1993 (Elton). The principal advocacy of the foundation is to improve the quality of life of those diagnosed with or at high risk for HIV/AIDS.
