John Wayne Gacy was a serial killer from Chicago, Illinois between 1972 and 1978(when he was arrested). He is also known as the “Killer Clown” and “Pogo the Clown” because he liked to dress up in a clown costume to entertain children. Gacy dressed up as a clown when he had parties with his neighbors in his backyard. He loved to entertain kids this way. What his neighbors didn’t know while they were partying at his house was that Gacy’s victims lay buried in the crawl space under his house. He is one of the reasons why so many people fear clowns. Gacy’s childhood was abusive and he struggled with his sexuality. Gacy had a terrible, distant relationship with his alcoholic father who used to beat him and his siblings with a razor strap.
His father also assaulted his mother. As a child Gacy suffered from alienation at school. He wasn’t able to play with other children because of a congenital heart condition. He always wanted attention from his father and he never wanted to disappoint him. Gacy looked up to his father and wanted love from him which he never received. In his senior year of high school, Gacy dropped out of school and left Chicago for Las Vegas where he worked part time as a janitor at Palm Mortuary. A few months later, he returned to Chicago and in the early 1960’s, he enrolled in a business college. Gacy first got married in 1964, the same year he had his first homosexual experience. They divorced around 1968, when he was convicted of child molestation, but he was paroled after only 18 months for being a model prisoner. In 1971, Gacy established his building contracting business. Gacy remarried around this time and his new wife and her two daughters moved in with him. He also started dressing up as Pogo the Clown again for Kid Parties. Gacy went into local politics too, eventually working his way up to precinct captain. Around 1976, Gacy had another divorce. Police did not investigate Gacy until December 12th, 1978 when Robert Priest went missing. They started asking him questions about Robert Priest, a 15 year old who disappeared. There was also many complaints from neighbors that there was an awful smell around Gacy’s house. Police never did anything about it, even when they were in the house they didn’t say anything about a terrible odor. The odor came from decaying bodies, like the remains of Robert Priest, that were in the crawl space under Gacy’s house. In 1980, he was given twenty one life sentences and twelve death penalties. On February 6, 1980, Gacy’s trial began with him having confessed to the crimes. The trial was focused on whether he could be declared insane so he could be put in a mental state facility. Gacy said the murders had been committed by an alternate personality. Mental health professionals testified for both sides about Gacy's mental state. When he was being investigated, police found out that Gacy would lure his victims to his home with the promise of construction work for his building contracting business. After he got them in his house he would then sexually assault them. To kill them he would strangle most of them with rope. When he killed, he sometimes dressed up as "Pogo the Clown." Gacy’s thirty-three victims were all males ages nine through twenty. The police found all thirty-three remains when they took up the floor of Gacy’s house. The house was eventually torn down, but some say the property is haunted. People have claimed to see the ghost of Gacy as “Pogo the Clown” and the ghosts his victims. On May 10th, 1994 Gacy was executed by lethal injection. His last meal was Fried Chicken , Shrimp , Fresh Strawberries and French Fries. After the execution his brain was removed but it was normal with no abnormalities.

The protagonist and narrator of the novel, Jake was left impotent from an injury incurred while serving with the Italian Front in World War 1. His inability to consummate his love for the insatiable Brett Ashley, and the sterile social backdrop of Paris provide a striking similarity to the Arthurian Fisher King motif of a man generatively impaired, and his kingdom thusly sterile. Bill Gorton, an amicable ally of Jake, and one of the few morally sound characters in the novel, serves as Galahad, gently kidding Jake about his injury, promoting self-acceptance and healing.

Ice Hockey has had many legends play the game, but remember the greatest one of all? He goes by the name Wayne Gretzky. Wayne is the guy that holds 61 records and has won 4 Stanley Cups. He is also the guy that holds many records that will most likely never be broken, like when he scored 894 goals in his NHL career. Every kid asks their parents “ what made Gretzky so good” and every parent responds saying hard work but, hard work isn't enough alone. This is one of my favorite essays because my sentences were strong and I had an excellent word choice. My introduction was short and to the point but it also kept the reader interested. “John Brown however, felt an urgency and a sense of personal responsibility which made him impatient with political campaigns,” this line is my favorite because I used descriptive and powerful words to describe how John Brown felt.
