The book The Westing Game is a great book that is filled with suspense. The book gives lots of cliffhangers. Because the readers don’t know who the murderer is they will be on the edge of their seats trying to figure out what the murderer will do next. These cliffhangers and all of the suspense will make the reader interested and want to keep reading the book. In the book the readers can never tell what is coming next providing tons of excitement. Some readers might say that the book is boring in some parts especially in the beginning but it is giving detail. The book giving detail is important. The book gives details about the night of the murder. It also gives detail about all of the characters. It gives detail about where everyone was and
“The Westing Game”, a story of people that had to solve the mystery of who killed Sam Westing. “The Westing Game” is a story by Ellen Raskin. This story was made into a movie 2003. “ The Westing Game” book and movie contain many similarities and differences that are worth exploring.
The Westing Game movie and book have a lot of similarities. One of the similarities is that
Fans of the novel found that the way the novel is written, you never want to put it down and the action keeps things moving and is quite entertaining. The novel pulls you in and makes you love each of the main characters in it. This is a great series for anyone to read, and it is audience friendly for whoever reads them. There is quite a bit of suspense that will make the novel exceed readers 's expectations, and the twists and turns keeps you guessing and lets nothing be predictable. Some like the way this group of people bands together when they really need to and keep things together so they can all stop the
The parts that I found boring were when there was a lot of description going on from the author. I do realize that it is necessary to set up the scenes and locations so that us as readers can have a better understanding of what is happening in the book, however I felt like at times he went too far into detail and had me nearly sleeping at times, literally.
Westing got his victory, so did Turtle, and all the heirs. The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin has lots of similarities and differences using chess (queen’s sacrifice) the characters, the setting, the relationships, and the mystery. The Westing Game had mystery, murder, suicide, and bombs, but yet it brought people together and had them meet new friends. Yet, in the end in both book and movie the mystery of The Westing Game remains to all but one: Turtle
In Richard Connell’s “The Most Dangerous Game”, he uses several literary devices to keep the reader interested. During Rainsfords journey to and through the island of General Zaroff he partakes in an adventurous journey filled with mystery, suspense, and dilemma. These devices are used to keep the reader interested throughout the story.
Although I liked the flow of action in this novel, a large number of superfluous characters are introduced in the first part of the book that never get fully fleshed out. Some of the characters more integral to the story also seemed a little shallow in their presentation.
are there until we reread the book. By setting up the mystery in this way, Crispin makes his book one that the reader cannot put down. His entire way of introducing the characters, settings and mystery make this a very remarkable book.
All in all, this novel is a good read, so long as the reader takes the time to think about everything that goes into it.
I found that the plot was very intriguing and kept me from putting the book down. Each event made me want to read more, for example, when Vahan's oldest brothers were murdered, and the rest of his family was sent to a prison. These events kept me drawn in, making me want to read more. The book was written well, but I did find that there was a lot of repetition with information and words on a single page, which did get to be annoying at times, because I felt like I was reading the same thing multiple
The book is mostly about death, loss and depression, which is not the sort of book some people would want to read. Even though the depressive atmosphere is well described in the book, it also makes you feel bad for the different characters and depresses yourself. Also, the notes and poems Lennie writes throughout the book are quite confusing. They are challenging for the readers at first, because there is no reference to the notes and poems in the story until the end. You have to read the book again if you want to understand the notes from the beginning and how they connect to the story. It will be a pleasurable experience for those people, who enjoyed reading it the first time and like connecting hidden hints from the beginning of the story to the outcome of
Sixteen heirs. A suspenseful game. Sam Westing. This book has got all if it. Samuel Westing was found dead in his house across the street from the sunset towers. His will was read to sixteen people of which were all apart of his will, and of which were to participate in a game called The Westing Game. In the novel The Westing Game written Ellen Raskin, the mystery elements that were used were: main conflict, setting, characterization, and the author’s techniques of giving clues.
The book is fully packed with suspense and mystery, and has a massive plot twist at the end. In one chapter, Grace is eavesdropping on a conversation with the “scarred man” and is nearly caught. The suspense compels us to want to read more from the series to find out what happens next. The book also has many original concepts too, like ambassadors from all over the world, all living in one place, and i have never read anything similar to it before. like when The book is aimed towards teens, and the characters make everything in it more relatable to their lives, and the story itself is easy to read with all the dialogue, which, in my opinion, made much it more enjoyable.
Selfishness is dangerous, it can kill and make others suffer even when they did no wrong. In The Most Dangerous Game, the General kills man after man without thinking about what it would mean for them. The men that he had killed and the men that he continues to kill have families, children, jobs, and goals. Yet he kills them all without showing any mercy and/or pity. This shows how he’s completely full of himself. It’s easy to see how selfishness can take over somebody and at most, kill people. Like how in The Bet, the lawyer had agreed to the bet he had made with the young banker. Afterwards, the banker was thinking to himself about the bet he had made and for what he had made it, that’s when he had realized something. The banker had realized that he made the bet with the lawyer for no reason, it was completely unnecessary and wouldn’t fall into the benefit of either one of the two men.
John Steinbeck’s use of language helps to convey and emphasise an atmosphere of tension when Carlson leaves to shoot Candy’s dog in Chapter 3. The context of the extract links to the men’s incapability to express their emotions with others due to their hard-working masculine exterior, to the point where sensitive events like these are deemed tense and awkward for those involved.
