Fear can lead to mass hysteria by having stress, anxiety, and social influence; usually heard and spread verbally and visually. In connection to The Crucible, the most qualified character for putting an end to mass hysteria is John Proctor, as evidence of his affair, credibility, and innocence. In the situation of The Crucible, John Proctor should’ve put an end to hysteria, as evidenced by his affair with Abigail Williams. John Proctor and Abigail Williams were ex-lovers, but before they were ex-lovers, Abigail was a servant who worked with Proctor and wanted to be with him.
