John Jay was born in New York City on December 12, 1745. John’s parents were Peter Jay and Mary Anna Van Courtland. His maternal family was of solid Dutch American background. They were the Van Cortlandts. Jay’s grandfather was Jacobus Van Cortlandt that served New York City twice as its mayor. Jay attended King’s College, which after independence became Columbia College and eventually Columbia University. As college graduation getting closer, he clerked as a law clerk, passed the New York Bar exam, and began practicing law in 1768. As a young lawyer in New York in 1768, John was very much in demand to serve his country. He graduated from King's College in 1764.
Early in the American Revolution, Jay was appointed to the New York Committee of Correspondence, the Continental Congress, and the New York Provincial Congress. He helped draft a construction for New York and served as the state's chief justice until 1779. He was President of the Continental Congress in 1778-79. Jay's agreement between countries was a controversial political episode in 1795. Despite the Treaty of Paris, signed with Britain in September of 1783, the British were causing problems. Alexander Hamilton was in charge of Federalist Party politics in New York and he had a firm thought that Jay should be elected Governor on the Federalist ticket. John Marshall was born in Virginia in 1755. Stites describes him as a Virginian "by birth, upbringing, disposition, and property (Stites 1)." His father, Thomas Marshall, was one of the most prominent and ambitious men of his time, and had a major impact on John. At age nineteen, John Marshall made his first impression when he joined the Fauquier County Militia as a lieutenant to fight in the American Revolution. Marshall's education included three months of law study at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg. Even though his education was limited, it was better than most of the political figures of his time. Marshall obtained his license to practice law on August 28, 1780 in Fauquier County.

The early lives of John Adams and John Quincy Adams are different. His father was working hard to make young Adams?s life different than his own which was to become an educated person. However, John Adams did not want to become a minister. After he graduated in 1755, he taught school for few years in Worcester, and that allowed him to think about his career choice. After much reflection, he decided to become a lawyer, and studied law in the office of James Putnam, a prominent lawyer in Worcester. In 1758, he was admitted to the bar. He put the skill to good use as a lawyer, often recording cases he observed so that he could study and reflect upon them. His report of the 1761 argument of James Otis in the superior court of Massachusetts as to the legality of Writs of Assistance is a good example. Born in January of 1737, John Hancock grew up to become a prominent founding father and important Patriot in American history. Filling many roles throughout his life, John Hancock shaped the course of the Revolution by standing out against the British rule. Originally a merchant and statesmen, Hancock became the president of the Second Continental Congress and helped convince all thirteen colonies to unite for their independence (History). Hancock stood for freedom in a time in which many leaders still hesitated to declare independence, and his influence convinced many colonists to unite against tyranny and still inspires many people today. There is a lot to talk about Armand character in the short story of Desiree’s baby. In the beginning of the story, he is such a great person he loves Desiree. This quote “beautiful and gentle” shows that Armand is fall in love with her. However, his character change, when he found out that baby wasn’t white. His character of being a good husband to a cruel husband. The story clearly explains his initial character and final character. I believe he is not pitiable at all because he shows his cruelty character toward Desiree and not only that, he cares about his social standing, which motivates him. He was also called a warmonger and an indecisive leader during wartime; along with his uncontrollable temper, he would make rash decisions without consulting his cabinet members (Gevinson). Britain and America signed the Jay’s Treaty in 1794, and it caused France to be highly unsatisfied ("Thomas Jefferson 's Monticello"). John Hancock was born on January 23, 1727 in Braintree, Mass. He is the son of John Hancock and Mary Hawke. John Hancock (father) was a Harvard graduate and minister. They lived in a part of town which eventually became the city known as Quincy, Mass. where John Hancock became the childhood friend of John Adams. In 1742, Hancock’s father died and he was adopted by his uncle, Thomas Hancock. Thomas Hancock lived in Hancock Manor in Boston where he had no children and he was a successful privateer and a merchant. John enrolled in Harvard University, received a bachelors degree, after graduating form Boston Latin School in 1750. After graduating from Harvard he worked for his uncle and he was trained for eventually partnership. From 1760 to 1761, he lived in England. He was building relationship with customers and suppliers of his uncle’s shipbuilding business. In January 1763, Thomas Hancock made John his full partner of his business. Since his uncle was sick, he took over the business. A year later, in August, Thomas Hancock dies of illness. He took full control of the business and became one of the wealthiest in America. At first John Hancock did well. His ship sailed across the Atlantic Ocean with good for the people of London. His ships sailed back with god to sell the colonies. Many colonies needed and bought the goods made in England, the mother country. John Hancock made a lot of money. He was generous, too. He gave food and firewood to the poor in the winter. He also gave a lot of money to the churches of Boston. Many people liked John Hancock because he was a kind man. (Lee, 3-11)
John Adams, born in Braintree, Massachusetts on October 30, 1735, was the second president of the United States and served as the first vice president of the United States. Adams began his education in a common school in Braintree. He secured a scholarship to Harvard and graduated at the age of 20. He was one of the Founding Fathers of America, and was a political leader, diplomat, and leading promoter of America independence from Britain. He also promoted republicanism and a strong central government. He was a lifelong adversary of slavery; he never owned a slave. John Adams was more remarkable as a political philosopher than as a politician. “People and nations are forged in the fires of adversity,” he said, thinking of his own as well as the American experience (The White House).
John Adams was born on October 30, 1725 in the Massachusetts Bay Colony on the family farm. He was the older of two younger brothers, Peter and Elihu. John was named after his father John Adams Sr. His father was said to be the town's tax collector, selectman, constable and lieutenant of the militia. John Adams Sr. was the younger Adams’ role model. John’s parents gave him a lot of freedom. It was said that he doing activities outdoors and cared little for school. It is said that John’s stubbornness started at the age of ten when his parents were afraid that he was wasting his exceptional intellect. His father asked him what he was to do with his life and John said that he wanted to be a farmer. The next day his father took him out to the fields and worked him as hard as he could, hoping to teach him a lesson, but that night Adams sr. asked him if he was satisfied being a farmer and little John replied, “I like it very well sir.” Both of his parents were very surprised with his reply.
The notion that Thomas Jefferson had a revelation in 1819 and suddenly subscribed to the idea of “dissemination” is utterly false. Regardless, this belief is as widespread as it is erroneous. The few laymen who are aware that there was a revolution in Haiti and have made the connection between the insurrection and the Louisiana Purchase fail to realize the underlying motives of Thomas Jefferson. Historians too have been blind to the nuanced indicators that prove Jefferson’s true motives behind his Haitian, Louisiana Territory, and slave trade policies. They uniformly insist that his support for diffusion began nearly thirty years after it actually did. Thomas Jefferson’s conviction that slavery could only be ended with the employment of dissemination can be traced back to the 1790’s by a careful reexamination of his policies as president. The compilation of Jefferson’s exerted influence in Haiti, his purchase of the Louisiana territory, and his discrete avocation for the extension of slavery clearly indicate that he was attempting to end slavery by diffusion as early as 1801.
