Like many women before me I am a sucker for romantic books. My favorite auther is John Green. Green is a talneted young man, all of his books capture your attention and leave you wanting more. Evrn in the darkest parts of Green’s books he keeps hisb story line light hearted and fun. His books have everything from young love to death and tradjaty. A story of young love and tragaty, Looking for Alaska, this story is about Miles a highschool student who is starting at new abording school. His new schoool is the same one his father went to, the problem is Miles doesn’t have any friends, or even know anybody. Soon after he arives he meets his roomate Chip, more commonly known as “The Colonel,” who gives miles the nickname “Pudge” and introduses him to Alaska, whom Pudge instantly is attracted to, and Takumi. The story is about two teenage kids with cancer the two meet at a cancer suport meeting. The two jit it off and end up dating, without the title, Hazel tells Gus about her favorite book An Imperial Affliction by Peter Van Houton, when he reads this book and discovers that the book ends in mid sentence he decides to use his “Make-A-Wish wish” to take hazel to meet Van Huton. In my opinion this is the best love story of all time, the reason is although Hazel and Gus both have cancer they choose not to let that affect their relationship and unlike other love stories when Gus dies Hazel doesn’t give up because it would be easier than living with out her love. When Gus dies Hazel keeps on going because she knows that is the best way to honor Gus’s
Richard Rodriguez uses many rhetorical strategies in his essay, “Aria: Memoirs of a Bilingual Childhood” to convey the differences between his native Spanish and the English spoken around him. Diction, pathos and anecdote elucidate the differences between native English speakers and his parents, effectively giving the reader a clear impression of how Rodriguez experiences life as a bilingual child.
In this novel, John Green is telling the story of a sixteen-year-old boy named Miles Halter as he begins boarding school and falls in love with the mischievous and free-spirited Alaska Young. After Alaska tragically perishes in a car accident, Miles and his friends come up with a prank to honor Alaska’s life and get back at the school for its false opinions on Alaska. Green is expressing this when he writes,“I didn't want the people she didn't know - and the people she didn't like - to be sad. They’d never cared about her, and now they were carrying on as if she were a sister,” (Green 158) and “ ‘A prank designed to lull the administration into a false sense of security,’ the Colonel answered, annoyed by the distraction. ‘After the pre-prank, the Eagle will think the junior class has done its prank and won't be waiting for it when it actually comes’ “(Green 98). The group of friends pulling this prank is representing the way people in their adolescent stage in life are more likely to rebel against something that they believe to be unjustified. Like Romeo and Juliet, Looking For Alaska deals with the power of love that leads to someone's
Alaska can be serious at times but also has a sense of humor to it to make it an enjoyable read. Overall,
Although their love has endured through many years, it has come to an end in the story. All throughout the story the couple is reminiscing about their life and while they are there are some odd details that are strewn throughout.
The quote by John Green, “What's the point in being alive if you don't at least try to do something remarkable? How very odd, to believe God gave you life, and yet not think that life asks more of you than watching TV” is one of the quotes that stuck to me. I feel like we all can relate to this quote. Everyone wants to matter and feel appreciated in this world. Who wouldn’t? This quote inspires me to be the best person I can be and to succeed in life which is something we all want to do. To put it briefly, if you’re the type of person that is into books that you just can’t guess the ending to, this is the book for you!
Cancer limits her chances at being a normal teenage girl with a normal life. As reluctant as she was to go to support group, she meets other teenagers going through the same stuff. Hazel gets to experience the flirting, adventure, and excitement of teenage life. She allows herself to be immature and careless. Gus’s death reminds her how unfair the world is but she doesn't regret her choices. In her eulogy at the funeral, Hazel says “I cannot tell you how thankful I am for our little infinity. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. You gave me a forever within the numbered days, and I’m grateful.” (Green 260). This quote shows she doesn't regret becoming close to him; even with the unfortunate fallout she’s thankful for the time and experiences. Hazel matures because of her relationship. She got the chance at “normal” and love. Caring for someone with cancer helped her mature.
“Love” by William Maxwell is a short story that tells the tale of a young elementary school aged boy and his classmates who are in love with their fifth grade teacher, Miss Vera Brown, but the love for their teacher is not exactly the same as her love for her students. The students liked their teacher and saw her as one of the best teachers in the fifth grade. Her fifth grade class was very polite to her and never acted out. They gave Miss Vera Brown plenty of presents like an apple on her desk before class started, flowers, and a movie for her birthday. They liked Miss Vera Brown so much that they wanted to keep her as their teacher throughout their middle and high school years. Until one day she did not return for the rest of the of their fifth grade year causing the students to become worried that something happened to her. During their first year of middle school, two of the students, Benny and the Narrator, rode out to see Miss Vera Brown at the place she was staying. When they arrived at the house, they saw Miss Vera Brown laying on her bed sick and realize...

John Green is a modern author and YouTuber who many would consider to be successful. He has published seven books, two of which are already successful movies, and at least one other is in the process of being converted into a major motion picture. His YouTube account that he and his brother, Hank Green, maintain, “VlogBrothers”, has around 3 million subscribers and his “Crash Course” YouTube account has over 5 million subscribers (7a). He and his brother also created VidCon, which has turned out to be one of the biggest conferences for the online video community, hosting about 168 creators and now occurring internationally with one event in Australia and one event in Europe – and the original event in the US (4a). Green has accomplished all this while still being under 40 years old. His success can be attributed to the unique situations he was exposed to and his hard work.

I always tell people they have to read The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. The first page was so beautiful that I actually had to put it down and back away from it. I also love The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky.
This novel sticks to the heart wrenching medical realities it started with. They introduce a young man in the story that Hazel meets at a support group who has cancer and a prosthetic leg he lost from cancer. The two grow close and fall in love all the while fighting for their lives. They have no fantasy world like Cam did. This author keeps its readers engaged because the raw details of their cancerous world, the love they have through the humiliating physical and emotionally ordeal they share is far more romantic and hopeful than any fantasy
A love story is a genre of popular fiction in which characters fall in love. Although, the basis of Sleeping Beauty and Maleficent are love stories, there are more important themes to these stories than the romance portrayed in these fairytales, which Disney touches on, but Robert Stromberg brings more emphasis to; evil from different perspectives, the act of rape, and the theory that love conquers all.
...assionate and lively. School teachers include romance novels in readings to allow students a chance to explore what they might think love is.
This book will pull on your heart-strings. It is filled with happy moments, many obstacles, life lessons, and tragedy. This story is about a teenage girl named Mia and her love for music, her adoring family, and her caring boyfriend Adam. Mia’s life is turned upside down when her entire family gets into a horrible car accident that ultimately questions all she thought was good in the world. I enjoyed this book because it was the perfect combination of dramatic and romantic. It was also well-written and although sad, had a satisfying ending.
