In this short writing prompt, I will give my opinion on John Dewey’s statement. I’ll explain why I think that this is false and what I do for fun. I will also describe if Dewey’s statement means if it is only about finding the right occupation, or if it is more than that. This should just consist of three paragraphs at least. First of all, I do not really agree with Dewey’s statement. The reason why I disagree with this statement because I think that happiness can come from anything that a person wants. I also don’t think that Dewey’s idea refers only to finding the right occupation either. The reason why is because I think that this is false because you don’t always have to find the right occupation either because you can find happiness

She has been extraordinarily influenced by great writing pieces; so much so that it has truly changed the path she may have gone down. He believed high schools were not preparing students for the needs of society by merely teaching the basics, such as reading, writing, and arithmetic. During the period 1800-1817, the Jeffersonians to a great extent compromised their political principles and essentially “out Federalized the Federalists”. While traditional Jeffersonian Republicanism advocated a strict interpretation of the Constitution and an emphasis on an agrarian economic system, the actual policies of Presidents Thomas Jefferson and James Madison were markedly different from their theoretical principles. Without a doubt the American education system has had multiple examples that have shaped what it is today. There have been individuals that have placed emphasis such as Mann that brought the common school concept to light. In addition, there were landmark court cases that allowed minorities to also receive equal educations. Furthermore, there has been strong political influence over the years of American education development. This paper will focus on the importance of Horace Mann, John Dewey, the Science and Math Education Movement, and the No Child Left Behind Act.
... to do. I favor parts of Dewey’s philosophy because it is a hands-on approach to learning. However, I believe that the students need instruction. I believe that everyone can be educated to the furthest of their abilities if given the proper tools to learn. There is no shame in vocational schooling because society as a whole needs people for every job. Plowing a field is just as important as writing poetry, and some people are destined for both. Overall, with philosophers like Froebel, Dewey and Dewey, Strike and Soltis, and DuBois, I have gained knowledge that I will take with me forever and apply in my classrooms.

Continuing upon this argue, Aristotle observed that whatever people do, the end result they wish to achieve is always the same: happiness. He even makes the point that “collecting butterflies, or climbing mountains, or reading lots of books” is always done for the sake of making that person happy. Postman says that if education is to survive, it must have an end. In this essay, we will discuss what these ends are, and how they compare with the “ends” of John Dewey. Dewey believes that it is the very nature of life is to strive to continue being alive, and that education is the most important way to achieve that. Postman says that the learning process should never really ever end. These two educational philosophers, when you examine them, actually have similar theories.
For some, happiness is all that matters. Happiness is achieved in many ways, and it doesn’t always involve money. There are many things that contribute to making a person feel happy and successful. One can feel successful without a lot of money at all. For example, feeling loved is something that makes everyone happy. Many believe that without love life is not thoroughly complete, thus never truly achieving success. Ones line of work can also affect how happy he is. Some feel that it is more important to enjoy work and get less money than it is to hate work and get paid more. Another factor in achieving psychological success is ones ability to enjoy what life gives him. There are many qualities of life that are overlooked. Everyone is dealt family and it is important to value that.
In the film The Apostle, the actions of Mr. Dewey illustrates how God might take sinful behavior such as murder and use it as a means of converting unbelievers. Towards the beginning of the movie, Mr. Dewey’s line, “Why don’t you just but out of here before I take my boot and tear you out another asshole right where your nose is at,” illustrates the sinful rage that guides Mr. Dewey towards murdering Horace. Interestingly, when Mr. Dewey flees the state because of the murder, his impassioned plea to God, “With great humility, I ask permission to be accepted as an apostle of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ of Nazareth,” demonstrates how the consequences of his sinful actions benefit God’s ministry. These philosophers offer a rounded perspective on achieving happiness. In examining these philosophers, I believe Marx is too focused on the materialistic items, and it is possible to be happy and not have anything. It is equally possible to be rich and unhappy. On the other perspective with the philosopher Kant, I do not believe that reason is the sole driving factor to achieve happiness. My views seem to align most with St Thomas and Plato. But in this debate, one question still raises its head - What is happiness? Happiness is not actually leading a luxurious life, but the luxury of living a life. Happiness is not actually about expanding your business, but it lies in expanding the horizons of life. Happiness is not having a meal in the most famous restaurant, but having it with your most beloved family. It does not lie in attending honorable parties, but to attend a party with honor.
