“Having a baby is a life-changer. It gives you a whole other perspective on why you wake up every day.”-Taylor Hanson. John Anderton had this kind of perspective for six years until the kidnapping of his son, Sean, on his watch. Anderton’s wife sees him as a reminder of Sean and becomes distant. His perspective of the world becomes gruesome and grey. He uses his new found perspective to drive him. By the end he looks at the facts with fresh eyes to get to the truth. Many people look at events, facts and issues different ways making different beliefs. John Anderton believed in pre crime. What lead him to this belief was the loss of his son and wife. John himself is the first to see the vision of his future crime. As he watches it his eye aligns with the eye on the computer screen. He is stumped and confused. How could a system he believed in suspect him of what he vows to stop? He then has to consider that what once he believed in 100% is flawed. At this point Anderton’s tentative mindset makes him rash. His belief in precrime is shattered and still he confides in Lamar Burgess, father of pre crime, without questioning his belief in Lamar. On his quest to prove his innocence Anderton visits Dr. Iris Hineman, the mother of precrime, which coincidentally is named after a part of the eye and also has a plant named Doll’s Eye in her garden. She also tells John a crucial piece of a minority report that he later follows up. Unfortunately retinal scanners are used to identify people for transportation, in stores, and other services. So he goes to replace his eyes for someone else's. After the surgery his eyes are covered in bandages and must stay that way until the timer goes off. But “spiders” or another kind of retinal scanner opens the bandages and according to Dr. Solomon he should be blind in that eye. This corresponds with what the drug dealer said earlier, "In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king”.
