I am writing on behalf of Joey Ochoa regarding his candidacy for graduation. Joey and I have met to discuss his goals and other plans for his future and based on our meetings, Joey has shown to be an individual who is very focused on completing his goals. At this point, he is really centered in receiving his high school diploma to allow him to seek new opportunities in life.
It is a pleasure to work with Joey due to his pleasant and positive attitude. Joey is a hardworking individual who seeks to grow not only academically, but personally as well. Eddie Mabo was a recognised Indigenous Australian who fought for his land, Murray Island. Mabo spent a decade seeking official recognition of his people’s ownership of Murray Island (Kwirk, 2012). He became more of an activist, he campaigned for better access for indigenous peoples to legal and medical services, to house, to social services and to education. The Mabo case was a milestone court case which paved the way for fair land rights for indigenous people. The Merriam people wanted to ensure its protection. Eddie Mabo significantly contributed to the civil and land rights of Indigenous people in Australia due to his argument to protect his land rights. In a speech in 1976, at a conference on the redrawing of the Torres Strait border, Mabo articulated a vision for islander self-determination and for an independent Torres Strait Island (Stephson, 2009).
Michael “Meeko” Thompson has spent more than two decades locked away in the Chippewa Correctional Facility. Michael was arrested for selling three pounds of cannabis to an undercover officer. He had prior drug offenses, but no history of violence. When his house was raided after his arrest, a few antique firearms and one usable firearm were recovered. Despite the fact that the antiques did not fire and the one that did was owned by Michael’s wife, he was convicted of felony possession of a firearm along with his cannabis charges. This was his fourth offense which labeled him a habitual offender, and he was sentenced to 40-60 years in prison. He could have been sentenced to as little as five years. Notably, even the Michigan Supreme Court

Peter Tkach was enrolling for classes his last semester of his third year at Willamette University. He had done well throughout his educational career, matured through personal experiences, but he soon realized that his four years of college were coming to an end soon and that he needed to determine what he would be doing for the rest of his life, or at least post graduation. Peter decided to enroll in Dr. Houser’s Theories of Career Development in hope of discovering a career path that suited his formal education. Throughout the class he was exposed to Trait-Factor Theory, Personality Theory, Developmental Theory, and Social Learning Theory. He received great career lessons from The Adventures of Johnny Bunko, which he later applied into looking for an internship and career. Peter was able to use these theories and concepts to his own life through completing the assignments and by the end of the class, he was no longer lost in search of a career path, but had a career he wanted to pursue and got an internship for the following summer.
After reviewing the case of Cameron Todd Willingham and the suspected murder of his three children, Mr. Willingham was absolutely guilty. Throughout the course of his prosecution many people tried to disprove the evidence against him but were rightfully turned away and he was ultimately executed on Feb, 17, 2004.
Using Allison’s strengths and interests is important to helping her become a successful student. This is the method of helping Bender, Brian and any other student become successful in school. Building on the student strengths, while allowing them to work on their weaknesses is important for all students and especially for twice-exceptional students in the classroom. When looking at the student’s weakness it is important to understand that their behavior is not a weakness, but a result of an underlying cause. Examining the cause of the behavior will help recognize the challenge areas for improvement by understanding the underlying cause for the behavior. After understanding the student’s strengths and challenges, the teachers can then fully help the student learn to the best of their abilities.

...ed me that students who may exhibit troubling behaviors in homeroom or other social situations sometimes become model students when classroom time starts. My final question for Antonio was the stereotypical “What do you want to be when you grow up?”. Antonio thought for a second and then said, “A doctor or a lawyer.” His answer delighted me, Antonio is essentially dealing with a double life, but he still has big dreams. Even though he has to make lingual changes on a daily basis and sees his friends not taking their education seriously, Antonio has a goal, an impressive goal at that. All in all, Antonio showed me that there are students who can fight the setbacks in their life and work hard to do well in school. I do not think there exists a “hopeless case” and I feel that every student can work hard to at least perform satisfactory work with the help of teachers.

I have accomplished a lot in a short period; however, my journey is not complete until I continue my education. Essentially, this degree will help foster my growth and career success. My passion and dedication will speak for itself. My hard work and determination will prevail and I am a fit more than the next applicant because I have the passion, experience, critical thinking and analytical skills needed to complete this program through successfully arguing my capstone in front of a board or committee. My goals are definitely aligned with this program and I hope my next read is an acceptance letter from the admissions council.
