My dream is to make a difference in someone's life in the health field one day. For this job shadow I shadowed a registered nurse. It was the best experience I've had. I learned that its not easy but its rewarding in the end. Helping people stay alive or taking care of them can really make a difference in your life as well.
During this jobs shadowing experience I went to Beaumont Wayne. Lisa Druyor was my host, a registered nurse that was very nice and easy to talk to. She introduced me to what a nurse does and eventually how they can proceed to a nurse practitioner. I was by myself during this job shadow only me and the nurse. A typical day is to asses patients, meditation administration, cardiac strips, & most of them are speaking with doctors or helping families about care. Nurses generally do their own assessment's, but the doctors must help the nurse if there's any problems. Hourly checkups are a must since as a nurse you're taking care of patients. Generally each hospital has their own dress code and Beaumont Wayne is navy blue scrubs.
While job shadowing I felt that this type of job is very meaningful. "patient care is number one", which makes it most interesting because you're caring for patients. This type of career makes a difference in someone's lives because you're helping someone in the long run. There's a few reasons id still enjoy this career; one would be the hard work and education, two, everyday something new comes into the door. Everyday is different, which makes a job more meaningful by the work you put in.
A registered nurse generally takes up to four years of education. In those four years you take clinical's, applied science and nursery. Preparation is key, if you're not prepared to study, work hard & be the best you can be, then nursing shouldn’t be for you. I learned that not many nurses are accepted with associates degrees, most need a bachelor degree. Although four to five years is a long time of school its worth it because of its great benefits, salary and usually a full time
