Jill Brown is a 38 year old mother of one, who lives in Carmel with her husband, and son Mathew. Mathew is 12 and is in the 6th grade at Carmel middle school. He keeps Jill busy by playing basketball and golf all year round. Jill is married to her husband Andrew who works for Alison transmission as a shift manager. With their provided dual incomes, they are able to live in an upper middle class home, and go on vacation once or twice a year. Unfortunately, Andrew has to work 3rd shift and is not home in the evenings to help Jill with the majority of the responsibilities. Jill also continually volunteers at St. Jude Children’s Hospital where she manages activities for children to do. Jill is an only child and also went through her entire education at Carmel. She grew in a home with both parents living together. Her mother Janice, worked as a receptionist for an insurance company in Indianapolis. Her father Daniel worked for a used car dealership on the east side of Indianapolis. They were very involved in Jill’s schooling and taught her to be disciplined and work hard. She spent most of her summers with her grandparents who lived on Brookeville Lake, in Richmond Indiana. Going through school her father allowed her to follow him around and learned how to speak to customers to build good communication skills.

Throughout her time in high school, Jill worked at the Carmel public pool as a lifeguard.

When she graduated, she received an academic honors diploma. She knew that she wanted to do something in sales because of working with her father at his car lot. She was accepted into Indiana University and majored in marketing and communications. During her senior year, she met Andrew, who was majoring in supply chain management. She graduated college at the age of 24 and was excited to get into the work force. She and Andrew decided to move to Jill’s hometown and begin their

careers.

Jill knew that she wanted to work for an organization focused on helping others. She applied to the boys and girls club located in Indianapolis. She was hired as an entry level marketing assistant where she helped Carrie, the senior marketing manager. Carrie was 65 and her work productivity had declined as she prepared for retirement. Jill showed her hard work and ability to communicate and build relationships with co-workers. She brought in new ideas of how to grow and promote the organization that had never been thought of before. After Carrie retired 3 years later, Jill was promoted to marketing manager for the organization due to persistence and dedication to the boys and girls club better every day.

Jill’s responsibilities include, conducting research, creating and implementing strategic ideas, and working with the top executives to develop pricing strategies. Her favorite part of the job is the research aspect of marketing, and being able to look at where the organization is, and what areas need growth and development. Jill prides herself on her creativity while keeping the budget in mind.
At the boys and girls club, their mission is “to enable all young people, especially those who need us most to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible”. Jill understands how many children have been influenced by the boys and girls club, and wants to reach as many as possible. Currently they are looking to expand, and to add a more facilities directly in areas of low income. She is given the tasks of finding and proposing a new location for children who need their help. After some research, Jill has a few areas she has picked out where a club would be beneficial. She is looking for a company who can provide a facility and give feedback on the location, and who in the community could staff the new club.
