During a time of unrest in America, one man by the name John Fitzgerald Kennedy brought America together and began a new era in American history. John F. Kennedy was the United States 35th president. But before his presidency, John F. Kennedy was a Naval officer and fought during World War 2 and became a war hero for his actions in saving his crew. JFK showed his dedication to his crew and the United States. Because of his devotion to America, Kennedy still lives on in our mind, soul, and in texts. Americans see his devotion to unity and to the future of the United States and the world in his inaugural speech, in his inaugural photo and a news article by Eleanor Clift. Kennedy wanted to create a new revolution in American history for America. In his inaugural address, Kennedy calls for a new revolution. A revolution in space. Kennedy states “let both sides seek to invoke the wonders of science...Together let us explore the stars.” Kennedy’s inaugural speech was eight years before the fateful Apollo 11 mission which landed Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on the Moon on July 20, 1969. Kennedy believes that there is a revolution beginning to form in space. The United States were lagging behind the Soviets in the space race and somebody had to shoot the American people towards the Moon. That person was Kennedy. Kennedy believed in space. His revolution of space flight continues to this day. As well Cliff really touches on the revolution that Kennedy began to abolish all form of segregation and abuse towards all African Americans, as they are American too. Clift states “not a single black face in that delegation...we actually can do something about this.” Clift states that Kennedy wanted change. And change is what Kennedy did. Kennedy integrated schools, and the National guard, as well as outlawed discrimination at work, hotels, movie theaters, and any public place.
