One of the problems raised by skeptics of the text Matthew 12:40 is if “Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three night in the heart of the earth”, how can that be true if Jesus was crucified on Friday and rose on Sunday? Meaning how is it that Jesus was crucified on Friday and rose on Sunday and it be three days? To us, three days and three nights mean 72 hours, but we’ve got to understand the Bible and its history and culture. For the Jewish, this could mean any part of the first day, all of the second day, and any part of the third day. If we compare Esther 4:16 and 5:1, Esther mentioned fasting for three days and nights and said that she would then

If that was the case it would be the fourth day. His resurrection would have had to be after the third day and on the fourth. “The day of preparation” (Luke 23:54) could only refer to Friday before the Sabbath since no work of any kind could be done on the Sabbath, the seventh day. On other Sabbaths, holy days, other work could be done like doing chores. The point here is that Friday is the only day a preparation day was needed as a preparation for the Sabbath, our “Saturday”. In different passages it is said Jesus would rise “on the third day.” If the resurrection occurred after a full 72 hours (3 days) it would have been on the fourth. In my opinion, if we compare everything that is said in Luke 23:54-24:1 and John 19:31, it settles the issue because of the day of preparation, Friday, being needed to prepare for a high Sabbath along with the fact the women came to the tomb on Sunday morning which is described it being on the third day. It is significant that “Every occurrence of the “the third day”, also referring to Jesus’ resurrection in the Gospels is put in dative case. The meaning of this is that nouns used in the dative case like “the third day” express a point in time rather than duration of time. So it means, “At a point in time, on
The movie Friday was one of the best comedies I have ever seen. It had a great director, a talented cast, a good plot, a spectacular soundtrack, and is filled with funny gags and jokes. It was by far the most hilarious movie of the decade. I have never laughed so hard in all of my life. I loved this movie.
A common topic of artwork throughout history has been the crucifixion of Christ. Since it is such a common topic, it makes it very easy to see how artwork changed and developed from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance. The painting on the left, The Crucifixion by Pietro Lorenzetti, shows the usual characteristics of a painting from the Middle Ages. The facial expressions are not varied or very in depth, Jesus and the other saints have the typical halo that is used very often, and the colors are mostly all bright, making nothing in particular stand out. The second painting, on the right, is by Caravaggio and is titled The Flagellation of Christ. There is an obvious shift from one painting to the next. Caravaggio’s piece is much more realistic.
John 18:39- but it is your custom for me to release to you one prisoner at the time of the Passover. Do you want me to release `the king of the Jews'?"King of Jews- He's not the king of the Jews, He's slapping them in the face. The same thing Jesus was being accused of Barnabbas did.JN 19:1 Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged. [2] The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They clothed him in a purple robe [3] and went up to him again and again, saying, "Hail, king of the Jews!" And they struck him in the face. Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged. This is your Messiah people, this is not VBS, or bible study, this is the Messiah that is in love with you.MT 27:27 Then the governor's soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company of soldiers around him.
Luke included a part of the day that preceded the six full days and a portion of the day that followed them.

The setting is a place they call The Skull, outside of Jerusalem. It was a place of death. Many criminals had been crucified at Golgotha and Luke emphasized that Jesus would be crucified right there with other horrendous criminals. Luke makes no time reference until Jesus’ actual death in Luke 23:44 when the sun’s light failed from noon until 3 in the afternoon. We can assume that our periscope took place earlier in the morning on the same day.
From the women we learn that Jesus rose on the first day of the week. From the other disciples, we learn that Jesus rose on the third day. If the resurrection of Jesus was nothing but a hoax or urban legend, there would not be an identifiable starting point. This is not the case for the resurrection. We know the location he was buried and the time span in which it happened.

The Virgin birth of Christ is an actual Historical fact. God came (in the sinless form of Jesus) into the earth "HE" created. No other event in the past has had so much impact out side of Calvary where Christ paid the price for our transgressions. Seven hundred years earlier, this was prophesied by the prophet Isaiah and it came about just as predicated in (Matthew 1:22, 23)
Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other." "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." This verse - John 3:16 - is perhaps the most important in the Bible. Jesus Christ was the son of God, but he was also the son of man.
This reflective preparation ends with Holy week, containing contrasting important days, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. (iii) Whitsun Cycle , the least important of the three cycles, begins with Ascension day which is 40 days after Jesus' resurrection at Easter. Whitsun/Pentecost occurs 10 days later to celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit onto the apostles. Most festivals' dates are static, for example Christmas (December 25th) and Epiphany (January 6th).
Good Friday: Was Jesus Crucified on a Friday? Good Friday is an annual event to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus and His death at Calvary. But, how can Jesus suffer crucifixion on Good Friday and resurrect in two days – Easter Sunday?
Formerly, Easter and the Passover were closely associated. The resurrection of Jesus took place during the Passover. Christians of the Eastern church initially celebrated both holidays together. But the Passover can fall on any day of the week, and Christians of the Western church preferred to celebrate Easter on Sunday, the day of the resurrection.
