SECO awards the professionals with annual ceremonies and trophies. One of these speeches was given by Dr. Hayes, an eight year board of trustees participant as well as the ceo of primary eye group (About Jerry Hayes, OD). Dr. Hayes speech was about 7 tips for optometrists in order to accomplish a successful business. The First tip he recites is being able to challenge yourself and the company by setting challenging goals. Being comfortable with a goal will plateau the company and make it too easy (Colleen, E. Mccarthy). Another great tip is updating the office which can be good refresher for the staff and patients. Mary Fisher's speech on HIV and Aids was executed extremely well in almost every way possible. Out of all the aspects of Mary's speech, I felt her establishment of common ground is what made her speech so great. Pearson, Nelson, Titsworth, and Hosek (2016) says “common ground occurs when you and your audience share an understanding of the world”(p.246). Mary did a great job of sharing her understanding and views of HIV and Aids, which is helping to establish common ground with the audience. Also, Mary disclosed things about her personal life that made her establishment of common ground even greater with the audience. All in all, Mary’s use of common ground did great things for her during this speech about HIV

George W. Bush’s “9/11 Address to the Nation” is a speech in which he talks about the catastrophic event on September eleventh, 2001. Two airplanes crash into the Twin Towers in New York City on this day, shocking the entire world. On September 12, 1962 John Franklin Kennedy charged the nation to achieve what no other civilization had done before; he charged the United States to place a man on the moon. Kennedy delivered his man on the moon speech in a time of great peril for the United States. It appeared that the Soviet Union was rising faster than the United States was posed to take our place as the world’s super power. His moving speech in Rice Stadium inspired the nation and other nations, to take the challenge and travel to the moon. Kennnedy use of allusions, repetition, and rhetorical questions motivate and embolden his audience, and make a difference that would last forever.
As a student who is both fascinated with science and desires a career that is dedicated to improving people’s lives, the profession of optometry is a natural fit for me. Wanting to learn more about the profession, I began shadowing several optometrists throughout my time in high school and college. I shadowed in various settings, including two retail chain stores, an ophthalmology office, and a private practice. My goal was to soak up everything about the experience, learning as much as I could from the optometrists as they interacted with patients and assessed their ocular health. I was amazed at how much I was able to learn just from observing other optometrists! One of the most memorable experiences I had while shadowing was when a patient came in with shingles, which the optometrist, Dr. Chelsey Clemens, confirmed was spreading onto her cornea. Dr. Clemens promptly prescribed an antibiotic gel to the patient. It was exciting to observe this patient receive this much-needed care from her
This speech has a obvious structure. In the introduction, she introduces the letter from young mother, and using humora as an attention getter. In the body paragraph, she criticizes the Regan Administration, and she emphasizes that we can change the United State. In conclusion, she describes that her hope for future and importance of voting to democratic. She uses humor as an attention getter. She says that “I’m delighted to be here with you this evening, because after listening to George Bush all these years, I figured you needed to know what a real Texas accent sounds like.” I consider that she researches the audience. Knowing the audience, she can use partisan humor to build a connection to the audience and score points against the political party. So, this attention getter is

ADHD is a common disorder that is usually first diagnosed in childhood. Society has made this a well-known trend. That children of all ages, cultures and color can be effected by this disorder. My god son Aaron is now 24 yrs. old. As a young child, he had a hard time adjusting. His mother could not cope at times. Aaron would run, jump, and pay almost no attention to his surroundings. His mother would refuse to use any type of medication. Although she felt at times that Aaron needed the medication, she refused. Why? As a parent, she believed that her child only needed guidance, and discipline to control some of those behaviors he was having. My god-son never used medication. Even though, “I felt like he needed it”! In 2007 2.7 million youth were reported receiving medication treatment. (CDC) The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, for “status purposes” to record, are always using data & statistics to widen their research.

He required 100% of my time. Doctors were on a behavioral watch. For your dismay my son flanked preschool! Not for academics but for not following instructions, teachers talked to me about his activity level, he was happy and loving but extremely curious. Many ER trips, he could blind my eyes to get into things and his safety was compromised. I was exhausted, he was adorable, but run with unstoppable motor.. In kindergarten, he got officially diagnosed. That was the Aha moment … a generational trait of ADHD has been passed on 3 generations that we know. My father was hyperactive and very curious and impulsive. My brothers and sister, their own children too nevertheless my father’s extended relatives had the same ADHD traits too. My little princess came along and yes, she got it too! She was diagnosed at age four. As a mom, I was motivated to help my children to learn strategies to manage their ADHD. Counseling, tutoring, learning clinics, social
Every successful individual knows that his or her achievement depends on a community of persons working together. Although in Eric Thomas speech about “Secrets to Success”, demonstrates that our generation need to be more diligent about our society and that earning success is not easy for anyone. Two things that I agree with Eric Thomas statement is dissipate on time and sacrificing unnecessary things to avoid my studies.
The Special Collections library located on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas contains a multitude of important items. These items collected have come from all over and are big parts of Nevada’s history. Upon my visit to the library I came across a speech that was given by the late Senator Howard W. Cannon. ...t in the field of optometry. Dr. Peterson showed me that it is important to understand how to deal with insurance companies, and how important it is to follow-up with paper works because there will be times one is required to run the front desk when the receptionist is not available. At Eye Maxx I also learned how to take the distance between the pupils using the pupilometer and how to manually measure it with the ruler. I was given the opportunity to take patients PD, which excited me as I felt that gratifying feeling that I was hoping to obtain in my career.
Orlando Bowen is an amazing leader of compassion, resilience, and determination. His incredible speech about perspective and leadership was truly inspirational. With us, he shared his story of hardship. Instead of focusing on himself, he focused on how he could and has made a difference using his story to encourage others and educate youth on how we too, can contribute to society. I believe it is important to not only absorb the information that has been presented, but process it and put it into action. Through the presentation, we learned that doing what is right and can take great sacrifice. Once you have done what is right, you shouldn’t expect something in return or credit, you should do it just because it is the right thing to do. In our
