Jennie Finch Essay

Jennie Finch is a softball legend. Finch is an American, former collegiate All-American, right-handed hitting softball pitcher and first-baseman. Jennie has a motivation and inspiring story.
Jennie was born in La Mirada, California on September 3rd, 1980. she is married to Casey Daigle and has two sons named, Diesel and Ace Daigle. She also has a daughter named Paisley. Jennie is the youngest of three kids and growing up the family was very closely knitted. Family is important to Jennie and she credits them for much of her success. Her dad spent countless hours working on her softball skills and is an important reason she is where she is today.
Jennie first started playing softball when her dad signed her up for tball lessons when she was 5. She started pitching at age and when she was 9 she was playing for a 10-and-under travel softball team. Every weekend she spent her time practicing softball. Jennie was very competitive, so in the more aggressive environment is where jenni thrived. She hated to lose. At age 12, she led her team to the 12-and-under American Softball Association national title in Tennessee. Every summer, the sport took her to a new part of the country for a national tournament. In 1995, Jennie's ASA team captured the 14-and-under crown.

Jennie love and passion for the sport was obvious from the start.

Her athletic ability and competitive nature was also obvious. She had great hand-eye coordination and had a cannon for an arm. She was bigger and faster than most of her teammates. During winter vacation in Iowa one year, she celebrated the first snowfall by packing a snowball and heaving it out of sight. Doug did whatever he could to accelerate his daughter's progress. Doug soon built a batting cage in their backyard. They would practice for hours, while she pitched at him with a bucket that was up-ended. He constructed a trampoline into a pitch back for Jennie to use. Eventually he became her personal

coach.
Some of Jennie’s softball achievements, while playing on team USA are huge. She was a Gold medalist with USA Softball at Junior Superball in 1998. In 1999, She Finished fourth with her club team at the Canada Cup. She Posted a 2-0 record, a perfect game versus Guatemala, with a 0.00 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 2001. In 2003, Jennie was selected to be a member in the USA olympic softball team.In 2008, she won the silver medal at the olympics in China. In 2009, she was USA Softball player of the year. In 2010, she was team USA and won the title of World Champions.
Jennie Finch plays a huge role in softball. She also plays a big role in the Olympic softball team. I think that Jennie is a well-rounded, determined, hard working mother and daughter, and all around amazing inspiration.
