I walk to my locker as the bell rang indicating the end of the school day. I was pushed and shoved throughout the day, but by now, I didn’t care. I was done. Rumors flew around during the week about what had supposedly happened the previous weekend with Jarred. “I hear she’s easy.” “I bet she forced him into doing it. Cuz she’s that desperate.” “Jarred’s a lucky man! For having a girl willing to follow his every command.” “She’s such a slut, soon, she’ll go after every other guy in the school.” “I heard her say that she wants more.” “She’s probably infested with STI’s by now, from all the guys she’d been with.” That’s the thing, they are rumors, and none of it was true. But that still didn’t stop them from saying or believing them. I’m at …show more content…
“You made it my business, when you involved MY BEST FRIEND!” she growls. Jarred yelps in pain while clutching his nose, “you little b***ch,” he muffles in his hands, while walking away. “You’ll pay for this,” he yells back. “Ya right, f***ing Coward,” Beth mumbles angrily to herself, she never swears unless she’s really pissed off. She turns her attention to what is sprawled on my locker, then to me, where I’ve somehow fallen to the ground, leaning against my locker while crying into my knees. She bends down and hugs me, telling me that it’s going to be okay. That we’re going to get through this. But deep down, I know it isn’t. It never does. ***** Beth calls Andy and tells him to leave without me, she doesn’t tell him why because he’ll just come down and make a big scene, being the dramatic person he is. Obviously Andy has heard about the rumors going around, he knew that it has something to do with them. This causes a small argument between Andy and Beth, which happens a lot. Andy yelling at Beth for not telling him the truth, Beth yelling at Andy back, telling him that she’ll handle it, which will end with Andy sighing in defeat like he always does, telling her that she better make it
After reading this article, and after analyzing it I agree with what Procter and Gamble did to eraser this rumor, and with Salmans argument. Salmans showed both sides well enough that I believe that this was a big rumor. The article also contained enough evidence that the rumor was false that if the target audience was indeed reading this article. They would be convinced that it was in fact just a rumor, and that Procter and Gamble were indeed not satanists.
Fred used songs and album covers as evidence to help support his claim. People believed the rumor because the “clues” he discovered were addicting and people wanted to piece the puzzle together. In the end, right before Fred had an interview on live television, he admitted the rumor was just a huge hoax. I can use this source to help answer what rumors suggest about us and why we always seek the truth. Even though the fame was unintentional, I can use this source, to explain how a rumor can be used for personal

In the “Orientation”, the new hire learns that one of her peers, Anika Bloom, could predict when people would die and advises not to speak to her. The new hire is given an example of a recent new hire that did not heed the warning, “Barry Hacker’s wife is dead. So unless you want to know exactly when and how you’ll die, never talk to Anika Bloom” (Orozco). The Office is littered with office rumors. In season 6, episode 1, Michael, the office manager feels bad about telling others in the office that Stanley is having an affair. In an attempt to right his wrong, he spreads rumors about everyone trying to cover his tracks, he explains his logic out loud “How do you un-tell something? You can't. You can't put words back in your mouth. What you can do is spread false gossip so that people think that everything that's been said is untrue, including "Stanley is having an affair."

I once herd a rumor that was spread about me and it was really bad because someone told the guys at school that I would sleep with them if they paid me $50. You wont ever guess who started the rumor. It was Ashley!! I never really liked her she was Cat’s friend first then Max dated her now she’s just one of the clan.
What makes a good rumor is that the rumor may not exceed the complexity greater than the memory span of the group that it’s being spread to. Short, simple and salient typically makes a successful rumor. Names, numbers, and places are typ...

Gossip can be a form of either informal or conversational talk that is not usually planned but happens spontaneously in conversation (Tholander, 2003). Gossip is a distinct and unusual form of storytelling as it involves a non-present third person. In order for a story to be considered as gossip it must handle a past event of which the absent third party was involved in. It often occurs within friendships,
I read the “Truth is in the Ear of the Beholder”. The main idea is, rumor and conspiracy are people ways of trying to make sense of our complicated world. The idea told us it can be make our mind thrive, for who are we predispose to believe. The author of the “Truth is in the Ear of the Beholder” Gregory Rodriguez writes, “CIA’s Duelfer report……the Bush administration was wrong to think Iraq had such weapons” (485). Was this a rumor? a conspiracy? or a truth? I would suspicion that where the rumor origin, and what the rumor’s purpose. That main idea shaped my own idea, because it made me understand this was not a easy rumor, maybe behind this rumor, which had a bigger picture or conspiracy. The rumor would be in people ways to spreading a wrong
The meaning of gossip itself is defined by Oxford Dictionary as ‘Casual or unconstrained conversation or reports about other people, typically involving details which are not confirmed as true’.

My sister sat down and laid my head on her lap, I wanted to know everything would be okay and it felt like she was all I had left. She rubbed my head and told me it would be okay, that she wouldn’t let anything bad happen to us. I trusted her, she had no way of knowing it would be okay, she wasn’t that much older than me. We needed our dad to tell us, but nobody would tell us when that was going to
