Recommended: How does dedication define success
Jesse Owens, a four time Olympic gold medal winning athlete said " We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort." Dedication is the key word that stands out, for it is dedication that drives each of us to do something with our lives. When we are dedicated; we are committed, we are devoted to our own thoughts and our actions and our decisions. If it wasn’t for dedication, we wouldn’t have the courage to achieve our goals, we wouldn’t have the bravery to stand up to a bully, or the nerve to do what is right. Dedication can be seen in many, including Frank McCourt, a character in the film Angela's Ashes, directed by Alan Parker and based on the book by Frank McCourt. Frank is a young Irish boy who goes through many hard and challenging times; his family lives in poverty, his father leaves and re-appears multiple times, and he has lost siblings. Although Frank has gone through many horrible things; his dedication to film, his need to go to America, and his family is not only very evident throughout the film, but it also shapes him as a character. Frank is a person that has dedication in his life; he makes decisions that affect others, and he stands by those decisions. Even though my life isn't as intense and depressing as Frank's was, I can still relate to him. The one very strong aspect that connects Frank and myself is dedication. I am dedicated to film; the same amount of dedication I have for film, frank has for himself and his family. Frank and I both fell in love with film at a young age, we both put others before ourselves and try to make others happy, and we both take time out of our own lives to further our possibilities of ... ... middle of paper ... ...his dedication. When both Frank and myself were children, we fell in love with film and storytelling. We both saw it as an escape and as a new world, we are both dedicated to film and to telling stories. Frank and I also both share the dedication of making the best of our own lives, and working hard to guarantee ourselves success. Whether it is helping our family, giving to others, or working hard to make other people happy; Frank and myself both share dedication for many things. Dedication is very important in people's lives. It keeps them driven, loyal, and hopeful. If it wasn’t for Franks dedication, we wouldn’t have gone to America, and his family would still be depressed. If it wasn’t for my dedication, my love for film and my dream of becoming a filmmaker would vanish. Dedication changes everyone's lives, and what you are dedicated to make all the difference.
we know about Mr. Frank, but also shows us another side of him that we
The first barrier to a better life had to do with surviving poverty or the absence of certain privileges. Person vs. Society: Frank must learn to cope with the people who are unforgiving of his mistake and think he should receive further punishment. It is difficult for him to hear negative remarks and ruthless comments for strangers saying he should have greater consequences, even though he is paralyzed for life.
Many people believe that the importance of family is crucial. The memoir Angela’s Ashes is written by Frank McCourt. It examines the poor upbringing and the relationships within the McCourt family during the 1930’s. Through the use of descriptive language, dialogue and characterisation, it supports and opposes various values including the importance of family and the impact it has on the relationships enclosed in the memoir.
The author Wes Moore said “I was surprised to find just how much we did have in common, aside from our names, and how much our narratives intersected before they faithfully diverged. Learning the details of his story helped me understand my own life and choices.” This quote reitterates what I believe to be the theme that your fate is not determined at birth but rather by the choices you make in life. In the quote he talks about how he realized how much they had in common which was even shocking to him. I think this shows how the choices he made were the most important thing to his success. He acknowledges at the end of the quote how important the choices he made were to his life success. I feel this quote along with the story are very inspiration and very eye opening to many people across the world who are born into a bad position. I think this will show these people how important the choices they make are. This story could pave the way to success for another teen or young adult across the

So, throughout the story and throughout life, we see society making countless decisions, making countless mistakes, and repeating the process over and over again. And then, we see the individuals that try to prevent the worst from happening to the world, or in the countries they reside in. However, if it's one thing that can change the world, it's what someone believes in, and what they do personally to back it up.

I believe in dedication, because I have experienced first hand how dedication can change your life. Dedication determines if you are going to achieve something or not. Along with dedication comes concentration and success, without dedication there is no point in doing something if you are not going to give your all.
Dedication is the act of being committed to a task or purpose because nothing in life comes easily. Roger Bannister once said, “The man who can drive himself further once the effort gets painful is the man who will win.” In both essays, “The Dreamer” by Junot Diaz and “Superman and Me” by Sherman Alexie, dedication was recognized in the Dominican Republic and American Indian cultures. The main characters from each essay experienced many problems and achieved to overcome those problems with dedication. The many times Diaz’s mother and Alexie strived for a better life shows how dedication was an essential part in both novels. However, both characters took different paths to dedicate themselves to a good future. Diaz’s mother and Alexie went through drastic measures to get where they wanted to be in life.
