Janay Rice: My husband was ‘petrified’ when i was unconscious “Like any other person my husband Ray Rice is human who has made a mistake that he’d never made and will never make again” are statements said to CNN by NFL star Ray Rice’s wife Janay Rice. Mrs. Rice also said “Ray knows me better than anyone else, and he knows that I will not sit in silence and let something happen to me. God forbid that it’s in front of my child. There’s just no way.” This was Janay Rice’s second interview since her husband, a former NFL star Ray Rice, violently knocked her unconscious in a casino elevator in Atlantic City, New Jersey, after a night of hard partying and heavily drinking. lives, as Ray rice was indefinitely suspended by the NFL for the altercation. Janay Rice has become a poster child for domestic violence. The clip that was released show the 200-pound football star punching his then-fiancee, sending her head to the wall before she fell unconscious to the floor. The surveillance video shows the NFL star dragging her out of the elevator and dumping her body on the ground. “My husband said he was petrified” is what Janay Rice told the “Today” show in a special interview that aired Monday. “ He was so surprised what had happened, he didn’t know what to do afterwards. Letting loose a little Janay Rice had told CNN that she was angry and very upset by her husband’s violence, but it also was just as painful to her to see her husband lose his job, to lose all the support that the Ravens provided and had him forced to pack his things and departure Baltimore. Mrs. Rice also said that she attributed Ray Rice’s actions that night, which resulted in both of them with assault charges. “Every human makes mistakes, After this situation, you would think we live in a perfect country where no one makes mistakes” said Janay Rice. Three months after the situation, Ray Rice had confronted the Ravens and his fans and apologized for the situation. After Ray Rice’s apology his wife Janay had said this statement “I do deeply regret the role that I played in the incident”. The Ravens social media account on twitter had tweeted those words by Janay Rice and then deleted them after a storm of criticism from fans. Many fans wanted to know why would she be apologizing for taking a left cross from pro football player who benches 400 pounds. Explaining the apology Janay Rice explained her apology to the “Today” show.
She then explained that the Ravens organization had asked her to apologize because it could help the situation. “I didn’t think it was wrong for me to apologize because the end result, was me getting arrested too” Janay Rice told the “Today” show. Rice Ray had apologized to his wife a countless number of times is what Janay Rice had explained. The Ravens at first defended their player and said he’ll be back. Later, Janay Rice’s charges were dropped and Ray Rice’s charges would be upgraded. In July, The NFL had announced that Ray Rice would be suspended for two games. The decision when then explode after wide receiver Josh Gordon was kept off the field significantly longer after failing a drug test. The league had stood by their decision until a video of the altercation was released. By the end of the day the Ravens organization had released Ray Rice. I could Barely watch it Janay Rice was not aware nor ever seen the second tape, commenting “I’ll never let the public bring me back there”. However her mother did witness the second tape, and stated, “I was sick when I watched it”. Janay Rice still has been critical of the media’s coverage of her and her husband, “the hardest part about remaining silent throughout the ordeal was experiencing her life be played out in the media” she
said. Monday’s “Today” interview was the second time Janay Rice has ever spoke about the ordeal, she first spoke with ESPN, which has granted her the power over the final draft and release date of the story. While being interviewed, she discussed that night in Atlantic city, the aftermath, also discussed how her and Ray Rice meant as teens and how upset she was with the Ravens for dismissing him after years of loyalty. Will Ray Rice have a return to the NFL? An arbitrator had found out that the NFL had abused its power by indefinitely suspending Ray Ray when the original punishment was only for two games. The decision for Ray Rice to play football again has been cleared, and there are many teams interested in the Rutgers University standout. Janay Rice believes that if he is signed again it will be because a team was able to look past the imagine of domestic violence that has come to define him. There is a heightened concern for athletes and domestic violence. When is Ray Rice next time touching the field? We may never find out, but it’s abundantly clear that he will never lay another hand on Janay Rice, both she and her mother said. “There is no next time. We’ve made that clear. There is no next time.” Janay’s mother told the “Today” show.
Ray Rice a former NFL running back who played for the Baltimore Ravens was caught brutally smacking his fiancee over, leaving her blacked out on the floor of a casino elevator taking place in Atlantic City. The footage leaked out world wide and the public created huge controversy over the coverage that continuously played a numerous of times on major news networks. Rice who was cut from the Ravens and suspended from the NFL after the release of the show down is now an unsigned free agent, searching for hope. Through shocking evidence and a glimpse into a professional football players life, I aim to examine how media created an entertainment brand out of the countless amount of times the video was aired, how the NFL handled the scandal, and how Rice strives to regain his identity.
This was meant to discourage gamblers from getting close to players for the sole purpose of gaining inside information. This decision ultimately protected the players from getting involved in gambling, but also added new issues. There are many inaccuracies found in the NFL injury report. By letting the public know which players are hurt and where they are hurt, opposing teams are using this to their advantage. As predicted, coaches are going to try to obscure their player’s health to mess with their opponents game plan, while at the same time still following the guidelines of the NFL injury report regulations....
The National Apology of 2008 is the latest addition to the key aspects of Australia’s reconciliation towards the Indigenous owners of our land. A part of this movement towards reconciliation is the recognition of Indigenous Australians and Torres Strait Islanders rights to their land. Upon arrival in Australia, Australia was deemed by the British as terra nullius, land belonging to no one. This subsequently meant that Indigenous Australians and Torres Strait Islanders were never recognised as the traditional owners. Eddie Mabo has made a highly significant contribution to the rights and freedoms of Indigenous Australians as he was the forefather of a long-lasting court case in 1982 fighting for the land rights of the Torres Strait Islanders. Eddie Mabo’s introduction of the Native Title Act has provided Indigenous Australians with the opportunity to state claim to their land, legally recognising the Indigenous and the Torres Strait Islanders as the traditional owners.
Even though athletes get special treatment they never think about how them getting off easy can back fire. The Ray Rice case is a prime example of how it was a downfall in their career. Rice got released from the Baltimore ravens and since then he has not play football. The NFL suspended him indefinitely, but it was later lifted because he did not lie to the commissioner about the domestic violence case. He was free to play again, but no team signed him because it was going to come with a ton of backlash and no team wanted to deal with that because it would have been a distraction to the team. Also, many people lost respect for Rice for putting his hands on a women. No one would look at him the same anymore. He has yet to sign with any team since the incident took
Until one day, towards the end of their long marriage, when Jody made a very mean comment about Janie's body. She came back with, "When you pull down yo' britches, you look lak de change uh life." After these words came out, Jody hit her. These harsh words could never be forgiven. At the end of their marriage, before Jody died she finally told him her feelings.

Overcoming the past and extreme obstacles is nothing new to Ray Lewis. His past is filled with dark secrets that not just anyone could forget; therefore, he is my idol. Lewis’s legacy will be tainted by the events of January 31, 2000, for some. Early that morning in Atlanta, a brawl broke out, two were found dead, and Lewis, along with two others, was charged with murder the next day. Ray Lewis was charged for a murder in a bar. Ray Lewis was going through hard time during this innocent and his career. Lewis pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice and Superior Court Judge Alice D. Bonner sentenced Lewis to 12 months' probation, the maximum sentence for a first-time o...
She realized that she married him only because of Nanny’s wishes, and she did not - and was never going to - love him. It was with this realization that her “first dream was dead, so she became a woman” (25) And although the “memory of Nanny was still powerful and strong”, (29) Janie left with Joe Starks. However her marriage to Jody was no better than her marriage to Logan. Jody was powerful and demanding, and although at first he seemed amazing, Jody forced Janie into a domestic lifestyle that was worse than the one that she escaped. Jody abused Janie both emotionally and physically, and belittled her to nothing more than a trophy wife. But Janie never left him. This time Janie stayed in the abusive marriage until he died, because Janie did not then know how to the tools capable of making her a sovereign person. She once again chose caution over nature, because caution was the safest option. And overtime she became less and less Janie, and less and less of her sovereign self, and eventually, “the years took all the fight out of Janie’s face. For a while she thought it was gone from her soul...she had learned how to talk some and leave some. She was a rut in the road. Plenty of life beneath the surface but it was kept beaten down by the wheels” (76). During her marriage to Jody, Janie never got it right. She was trapped under Jodi’s command and because of this she never
"I ask that all Americans demonstrate in their personal and public lives... the high ethical standards that are essential to good character and to the continued success of our Nation."
The NFL has multiple reasons for maintaining a tough drug policy. Former NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle stated that serious health problems occur for players who abuse drugs. Additionally, since the NFL is a billion dollar business, they have an interest in maximizing productivity from its players and alcohol abuse hinders that. It says in the Marquette Sport Law Journal, “The league has an interest in protecting the safety of all players” (Sisson and Trexell 11). Players who abuse alcohol or any drug for that matter put themselves and other players at risk. In 2012, Dallas Cowboy defensive tackle Josh Brent killed his teammate while driving under the influence of alcohol. He was released by the team three weeks after the incident and does not play in the NFL anymore. There are numerous incidents of players getting into trouble because of alcohol.

The main argument in The Apology by famous ancient Greek philosopher Plato is whether, notorious speaker and philosopher Socrates is corrupting the youth by preaching ungodly theories and teaching them unlawful ideas that do harm to individuals and society. In his words Socrates quoted the prosecution’s accusation against him: “Socrates is guilty of corrupting the minds of the young, and of believing in supernatural things of his own invention instead of the gods recognized by the state.” 1 Further Socrates consistently introduces tediously compiled number of examples to provide valid and sound arguments to prove that he is innocent of the charges brought up against him to the court.
Per utilitarian ethics, no matter the link between football and CTE, the research the NFL’s actions would be considered ethical. Lack of certainty in the research makes deontological ethics more difficult to implement. Since the research did not directly related football to the brain injuries, there is not the same obligation to disclose research that is not definite. Parallel to if the information was conclusive the NFL fell into the ethical traps of money and conflict of interest. The NFL still had to wrestle with ethical traps even if the it was considered ethical to not disclose the research. Since the research could not exclusively blame football concussion to permanent brain injuries, the ethical decision was not as black and white as
After almost two decades of marriage, Janie finally asserts herself. When Jody insults her appearance, Janie rips him to shreds in front of the townspeople, telling them all how ugly and impotent he is. In retaliation, he savagely beats her. Their marriage breaks down, and Jody becomes quite ill. After months without interacting, Janie goes in to visit him on his deathbed.
