I’ve noticed quite a bit about one of the author’s writing styles because I have read his other series, Maximum Ride. However, I have not read any of the other author’s books. I’ve noticed that James Patterson uses a short chapter technique that makes readers go through the pages faster, and I’ve been up late before constantly telling myself that I would only read one more. Another noticeable thing is how he always tries to discreetly, but also not so, send a message to the readers. In Maximum Ride, he warned about climate change, in another stand-alone he spoke about suicide, and here he tells them to speak out against injustice, all of which are great things. I’ve also caught on to the fact that there are no lengthy introductions, the
Max shouted,“Run, Run Run!” The book Maximum Ride Angel Experiment is written by James Patterson. Maximum Ride Angel Experiment is about a group of six kids who call themselves the flock and the oldest is Max who is fouteen and then its Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gasman, and Angel who was six. The six of them are on the run from scientist which the six of them call white-coasts. The reason is that they have special abilities which are that Angel can hear people's thoughts and all of them can fly. This all started when the white-coasts took Angle and it took days to get her back, but they finally did. In doing so they found Jeb who was a father figure to all of them and sent them free when they were kept in School (the place where they lived and where
When inditing, authors incline to tell their own personal story through their literature work, sometimes done unknowingly or deliberately. Albeit some components of the author’s work are fabricated and do not connect with their own personal lives whatsoever, this is sometimes what causes a reader to do their own research about the author and their background of the story. Upon researching Wallace Stegner’s novel Crossing to Safety, one may discover that he did indeed, reveal bits and pieces of his own experiences in his novel. “You break experience up into pieces and you put them together in different amalgamations, incipient cumulations, and some are authentic and some are not… It takes a pedestrian and literal mind to be apprehensive about
He uses specific tone through his text his tone is meant to inform and persuade giving him creditability towards his argument. He uses pathos through his text by saying the way music makes people feel a certain way and understand the argument making it stronger, he also uses the story of his mothers death to play with the readers emotions. He uses words like ghetto, Blacks, love , soul, gangsters, etc to show persuade the audience and she if the emotions of the reader would be affected. He then brings in ethos by using creditable mentions of Fetty Wap and statistics like “At the time of this writing, “Trap Queen” is the #2 song in America. To have the #2 song in America is to hit pretty much every demographic…” To provide the audience a sense of trust with him making his argument gain power. He also includes tweets to validate his argument and create stronger support from his intended audience and giving the audience a sense of
ey say that a book is a man’s best friend. It not only can change your personality but also leaves you with many experiences after each reading. I believe it is like a soul of human’s body without which anyone can exist. In everyday life we sometimes try to imitate our book’s heroes and even act like them in similar situations. Writers which depict daily problems, matters that touch us all and provide suggestions to overcome them will always win people’s spurs. One of such writers is in my opinion William Kennedy. There is something attractive in his books that make readers follow him till the last page. Now we are going to learn his book Billy Phelan’s greatest game and try somehow to analyze it.
Paul Revere's Ride is a collection of historical accounts centering around Paul Revere's midnight ride to warn the countryside of the battles that occurred. The novel is made up of narrative accounts that tell the whole story of the midnight ride. David Hackett Fischer goes to great lengths to cover every possible angle in telling the story. "Fischer illuminates the figure of Paul Revere, a man far more complex than a simple artisan and messenger"(3). By adding different perspectives he allows the reader to see not only the American idealistic point of view, but we get a chance to hear British accounts of these particular events. In this way Hackett Fischer paints an accurate and unbiased picture not only of Paul Revere and his ride, but also of many other supporting historical figures that were important in making these events happen.
Green drags the reader right into the text from the very beginning, and very skilfully keeps the reader engaged to the end of the introduction. With varied techniques to convey his message, Green is able to summarize the novel and grab attention in the few opening pages.
The job of a screenplay is to establish many different aspects of a movie, including tone, dialog and narrative structure. A screenplay is a constant juggling act that must keep all of these aspects in balance, obviously there are some films that do this better than others. A rather unique film that handles each of these aspects well is writer/director Steve De Jarnatt’s Miracle Mile (1988). This film is truly one of a kind and how it pulls it off is something of a miracle. It’s the story of a man named Harry and a woman named Julie falling in love with one each other over the course of a day. Unfortunately the good times can’t last, as Harry misses their date and picks up a pay phone, only to discover that nuclear warfare is happening and he only has a certain amount of time to get out of the blast zone. De Jarnatt’s screenplay is very different, but it somehow works out beautiful and how it does
Posters were used during World War II by the U.S. government to get a significant message across to their citizens. To analyze a poster it is important to think about the choice of color, placement of words and images, shapes, and emotional appeal ( Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz 91). All of these factor into the message the author is trying to explain to its viewers visually. In the poster “When You Ride Alone,” the message the author was trying to get across to Americans was the importance of carpooling. This poster successfully conveys the message through the words, color scheme and representation of objects.
The one author whose style I could appreciate most and who I could connect with best in “Doubletakes” was David Foster Wallace. His ability to capture one moment that most people would normally take for granted and to freeze this moment like it is occurring in slow motion, taking into account all five human senses (touch, sight, smell, taste and hearing), color imagery, similes, metaphors and all of his unique description of the scenes surrounding the actions of the main character really make him stand out in my mind. By taking an event so seemingly trivial (for example the act of climbing up and jumping off of a diving board in Forever Overhead), Wallace forces his readers to appreciate all aspects of life, especially the minor details. This is what appeals most to me about Wallace because I too like to point out small, seemingly insignificant events in my writing and put them under a microscope so to force the reader to think more seriously about mundane actions.
David Howarth's writing style is unique. He allows the story to develop on its own. The story flows and the events do not seem forced. The story reads like a historical novel and is easy to follow. Howarth presents his information fully and does not leave anything for the reader to question. The reader does not become confused or lost because of the way that the author reveals his information in the book.
The Scarlet Letter, The Green Mile, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Stephen King are the novels and authors that have struck many readers with a frightened character in stories of ridicule and punishment. Anti-transcendentalism and horror are rarely seen as genres people can compare because of their stark, blinding contrasts. However, Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter and Stephen King’s The Green Mile can be noted for their commonalities and their differences in the authors’ styles, the books’ themes, the stories’ plots, and how these books are seen in the classroom.
Lamott has a very different writing style compared to many authors. She adds a sense of humor to lighten the mood to her writing, and uses imagery to catch your attention. I enjoyed her humor because I feel as if it is hard
For instance, the book’s title, Whale Done pronounce similar to “well done”. It illustrates the whales’ good job and implies a positive tone in writing. It is easy to remember the title and quickly attracts people’s interest. Further, the sentence “The more attention you pay to behavior, the more it will be repeated” is an example of repetition. The structure is repeated, and it is easy to read. Plain English is applied to describing in this book. There are many concise wordings instead of jargons between lines. People could easily understand the helpful meaning. In conclusion, the book’s style is as good as its contents, concise, positive and
I picked The Longest Ride as my movie to show examples of Luke Collins and Sophia Danko in relationship stages because I recently watched the movie and remembered it having a good story, building up a relationship, but also having problems and breaking up. This movie does an excellent job showing the first four stages: initiating, experimenting, intensifying, and integration. On the other hand the last four stage: differentiating, circumscribing, stagnating, and terminating, was a little more challenging, in account of them experiencing a break up and then eventually getting back together quickly.
For example, at the beginning of the book Makansi writes about them watching TV, “I wonder if those on the screen, smiling out at the cameras, are thinking of us, remembering us like we remember them” (9). This talking about thoughts of the past while watching a TV bored me because it didn’t have any action. When they did this the action elevated from there because the sector got mad at them, this I thought was a good way to start the rivalry of the two groups. I was most impressed by makansi well planned way of writing where every thing that happens is a significance in the book and without it the book would be incomplete. Makansi made it obvious to me that her target audience was teens because of the sedom use of vulgar language and detail of action and gore. For example, in class we were assigned to write and illustrate a book that was targeted toward elementary schoolers, I did this by adding pictures and having a strong moral to the story, it was obvious that Makansi wanted teens to read her book from the detailed action. I thought that this book was well written and should be purchased to the school library for others to read as
