James B Davis (Jim) passed away peacefully in the care of Clarehouse, Dec. 12,2016. Born Jan 12, 1933 in Tulsa, he built a life in Bixby with his wife & children. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Earl & Helen Davis; his brothers, Ralph & Joe Davis. He is survived by his wife, Betty, Bixby; children, Bobette Downing, Tulsa, Van Downing (wife Patrice), Wichita, KS, Helen Davis Meador (husband Jim), Broken Arrow; grandchildren, Rhys Davis, Austin, TX, Chaston Adams, Tulsa, & David Downing of Wichita, KS, and 3 great grandchildren; Cali, Emmi, and Cannon Adams, Tulsa. A University of San Diego professor whose daughter’s disappearance become a recurring factor in his life, has finally gotten the peace he deserves. After approximately five years of three unsolved murders, assailant David Allen Lucas, was convicted and sentenced to death. Lucas was a carpet cleaner from Spring Valley, CA and was 23 when he first committed a murder, but this was not his first time being convicted. In 1973, at the age of 18 Lucas was incarcerated after being convicted of raping a 21-year-old maid who had worked for a family friend.
When Earl finished his duties in the Army war effort he briefly returned home before joining his uncle in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Together, they built a fairly lucrative road contracting company throughout southeast Louisiana. He soon married Frances Caroline Lenhard ("MaMa") of Baton Rouge. The Fair American sailed across the Pacific ocean with another great boat called Eleanora. The captain of Eleanora was Simon Metcalfe and his son Thomas Metcalfe was the captain of the Fair American. On their voyage they had docked at Maui where the Eleanora’s skiffs were stolen. Simon Metcalfe was furious and punished Hawaiians by killing more than 100 Hawaiians and humiliating the chief by whipping him. The chief sought revenge and attacked the Fair American killing everyone onboard except for Davis because of his courageous fighting. Cox's most loved occupation, however, was being a musician. He was proficient with both the guitar and fiddle. Elijah and his son, Ben, played for every dance at Fort Concho. In 1924, Cox was met by a nearby newspaper and he recollected on the music he played. “’There wasn’t none of them turkey trots in that day,’ said Cox. ‘Folks danced the schottische, the polka, the square dance, and the quadrille. We had music in them days, too. John Daniel Buckingham was my granddad on my father’s side. He was born on April 15, 1948 in Decatur County, TN to Lennie Faye and Willie Green Buckingham. Daniel was the fifth of twelve children; he had seven sisters and four brothers. He went to first grade in Decatur County, but when his family moved to Gadsden, TN he was not old enough to attend school there. The next year he went to Gadsden school and went there all twelve years.
Lewis and his wife Hepziabeth had eight sons. One became a teacher and another a minister. Some worked on Lake Superior vessels for a time. Several of the sons worked in the extractive industries of lumbering and mining. Prominent among the brothers was Leonidas. He became the head of the Merritt clan in Duluth, especially after his father Lewis died in 1880.
He wrote his will before he left Williamsburg. He left all his belongings to his wife Betty. Peyton Randolph died in 1775 caused by a stroke. He was buried at Christ's Church in Philadelphia. In 1776, his nephew Edmond took his remains to Williamsburg. After he died, his cousin Thomas bought his books, but later sold them. Peytons books make up a very large part of the Library of Congress. After Betty (his wife) died, Peyton's property was auctioned and divided.

Richard Whitfield, Sr. was born November 30, 1926, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Dallas and Eugenia Whitfield, who both preceded him in death. He was the seventh of seven children born to this union. His three brothers (Rossie, Dallas, Dossie) and three sisters (Margaret, Lula, Frances) preceded him in death.
Ernie never complained about his sickness. He remained hopeful that he could beat the disease and refused any pity offered by others. He was always gracious and he never complained to the people who helped him.
