In the book Jake Reinvented the theme seems to be not to stress over the unimportant things but to focus on the little things and as times go by. In times in the book Jake focuses on having fun and living life to the fullest. In this book the main character is Jake Garrett who is a smart kid who is the long snapper on the football time and likes to throw lots of wild parties. He tends to some times in the story veer away and party too much and get in trouble.
In the book Jake Reinvented the author perfectly and accurately portrays the life of a high school kid during this time, with high levels of social and the high drama but high excitement. An ambitious teen Jake Garrett was anxious to get going in his new school, making new friends and playing football. As the new kid he is trying to become popular right away by throwing wild parties. Maybe this quote will help you to guess: “I should have known before. Nobody was coming to stand behind Jake. Not one solitary soul”. Without parties, free beer and pizza nobody needed Jake. Those hundreds and hundreds teenagers who went to his parties, call themselves Garret’s friends just disappeared. Even Didi, did not showed up. The Geeks Shall Inherit The Earth is a book by Alexandra Robbins which summarizes the story of seven different teenagers that have many different problems, which many of todays teenagers also have. I found myself having many similarities to the teenagers in the story, for example, when with her group Whitney, the popular bitch, thinks “You didn't day that when we were alone, but now that you're in front of a group you do” (Robbins 21). I can relate to this because I feel as though many people are pressured to say or do things they normally wouldn't whenever they are with their group or ‘clique’. Robbins has this idea that the freaks and geeks, or “cafeteria fringe” will someday grow up and use what they are criticized for to become more successful than the other peopler people. She calls this the ‘Quirk Theory’ (Robbins page 11). This helped me to learn that right now, in high school, not being ‘popular’ may seem like the end of the world, but the reality of it is that after these four years, it wont even matter, but what will be important is how you learned to grow as a person and the true friendships that were made. This makes me want to focus more on my education and learning to grow as a person instead of focusing on how many friends I have or who I sit with at lunch, because truthfully it wont matter once high school is over.
Threats made him great because they made him think about what he was going to do with his life if he did not behave, and his future didn't look so bright. Also, others not reacting when he misbehaved made Jake a greater person because he just wanted attention and when he didn't get it he stopped. Finally, discovering his passion made Jake great because it gave him joy and he started to relate to others and want to also give them happiness. To summarize, Jake went through a lot, his parents were in jail, he moved in with a new family, and was threatened to be locked up. In Jake Reinvented, Jake makes a great example of what can happen when you try to change for someone or something in life. When you try to cover up your past by saying you were a great football player and liked to party when in all reality you changed yourself for a girl who couldn’t even take the blame for hitting Nelson with a champagne bottle and making Jake get something that he didn’t even do is changing your world to try and impress others, when you should of just been yourself and stick with what you’re good with instead of changing, even if it means you’re mentoring students or part of the chess club or in love with dragons and dungeons, don’t change yourself to be somebody you think you can be because it isn’t worth the failure your setting yourself up for.

Bradbury writes of a fire fighter that has realized that the society he lives in isn’t right and makes the protagonist want to make a change. Guy Montag is influenced by a teenage girl that makes him realize the beauty’s of the world. Guy is also influenced by a fire that burns a woman alive. Montag steals a book from that fire and that is the beginning of when he begins his mission to find out why his society has become the way it is, and his greater mission of changing society so that everyone in it can think for themselves. Captain Beatty is one of the greatest influences in Guy’s life because of his knowledge, the information of Clarisse’s death and when guy is forced to murder the fire captain. Jealousy. Jealousy can make us become things that we do not wish to be, and we can become those things without us even knowing it. And is it even worth it? Jealousy is definitely at its highest point when it comes to love. If you see the person who you are in love with and they are with someone else, that is the worst feeling to have. Jealousy like no other will take over you. If my life had no purpose, no individuality, and no happiness, I would not want to live. This book teaches the importance of self expression and independence. If we did not have these necessities, then life would be like those in this novel. Empty, redundant, and fearful. The quotes above show how different life can be without our basic freedoms. This novel was very interesting and it shows, no matter how dismal a situation is, there is always a way out if you never give up, even if you have to do it alone.

Many adolescent have to learn many things from the events in their lives. Freaks and Geeks show characters adapting to the changes in their life and learn to adjust them. Neal Schweiber, a freshman at McKinley High School and friends with Sam Weir in episode 12, learns that his father is having an affair with his mother. He reacts to this situation by lashing out at his friends and other family members. Neal finally comes to terms with the fact that his father cheating and adjust to life with it. This shows the changes in Neal family life and he learns to adapt to it. He develops into a mature adult and learn the lesson of life. This lesson is of people, like his father, who have a mid-life crisis and they tried many things to avoid the feeling of it. Another example is Sam Weir, in episode 17, breaks up with his long time crush, Cindy Sanders. Sam learns that Cindy is actually very shallow and boring and that isn’t what he is looking for. This strays from the stereotype of having the popular person always break up with less popular person and having people always think that adolescent always have true love in high school. My recommendation for this book would be that this book is just a fun read, nothing to serious. But yet it's a book were its easy to relate to were a lot of the situations that happen in the book happen in young teenage life as well. Like for example the desperation to fit in. kids will do most likely anything to be part of "the cool group" hopefully not take some sort of pill that will talk to you in your head. But other things like being pressured into talking drugs. Sneaking out of the house to go to some party and not coming back until the next day at dawn without getting caught. These days we do so much and our parents know so little.

There are many ‘norms’ and values expressed throughout hook’s writing. In the early part of the twentieth century survival belonged to the fittest. Not necessarily meaning fittest as ‘strongest,’ but able to produce, work hard, and make a secure life for yourself and family. On the other hand, in today’s society the message is that survival belongs only to the greedy. Also many young kids have the notion that in order to ’live the good life’ you must be wealthy of material possessions. Younger kids have to deal a lot more with the pressures associated with wealth.
I would recommend this book to others because it shows the unity and division of small town life. Being from a small town myself, I can relate to how issues are played out in our communities before any official judgments are passed. I feel that I most identify with Jake Brigance because he has a desire to see justice served in the most honorable manner. Even the poorest of humanity deserve to be represented to the best of one’s ability. This novel is evidence of my opinion that small towns are great to live in and the majority of people join together to help their neighbors in time of need.
The main idea of a book is that If you go someplace new, you probably won’t have many friends at first but not to let that stop you from doing your best and doing what you believe is right. To know that you will make friends and have a great time. In the beginning of the book, charlie starts high school and doesn’t have many friends but soon he makes the best friends he has ever had in his life. “ I am writing you this letter because I am starting high school tomorow and I am really afraid of going.”
