My Silent Hero
“A true hero isn’t measured by the size of his strength, but by strength of his heart.” - Hercules. To me Jacob DIckson is a hero because of his overwhelming strength of his heart. For he is the one friend that always cares, the one companion that is always by your side, and one of the only people who accept me for who I am. He is not a hero from the fictional movies or comics that have super power, or are rich and famous people. No, his is not one of those heroes, he is a hero because of his caring heart. He is a hero that has been by my side for years that have past. He is my silent hero because of his deeds, which may small and barely recognizable but are always there. He is my hero because is is the most understanding person I know. Another heroic trait is that he always is caring to his friends and family. Finally, he is my hero because he is faithful. Others my see him as a normal 14 year old student, but the me his is a true man even if he is not old enough to be one yet. He is Jacob Dickson who is my silent hero.
Jacob Dickson is a hero because he is understanding. He accepts me for who I am, he is my friend even if I am selfish and uncaring he is my friend and always tries to understand me. He has always noticed when I have been down and tries to help me and understand my situation to help me get

better. For example, when I had been down I was constantly bullied he saw that I was different and asked me what was happening and stood up for me by trying to help. Which shows that he tries to understand me and help me resolve my problems. He also convinced me to play some sports because I wanted to but did not fully go through with it. Which meant that he tried to help me make my decision instead being ignorant because it was a pain. Another way that Jacob Dickson is my silent hero is because he is kind and caring.
He always cares for people who are close to him. He tries to make lives of his friends and family a little bit better if he can. No matter what he stands up for his loved ones for an example he stood up for his group of friends that were being called names even with the risk of being subjected to the same torment. Which shows he cares and tries to help his friends and family out. He also stands up for me countless times when I been harassed and tormented and fights back saying “it's not ok”. He always stands up for you no matter what the consequences
are. Finally, Jacob Dickson is my silent hero because he is always faithful. he is not only faithful to me and his friends, but to himself also. He is a resolute man that does not back down from his decisions. He has never left my side for years and has always been their for me. For years he has never left me or doubted me. He has always has pride in his loved ones and himself. He constantly supports and trust his friends when it matters. He has never backed down from his friends or family and says with them through thick and thin. Even if he might not recognize it himself, he is a hero or at least in my eyes. He is a man who stands out from the rest and always will be. He is the hero that always tries understand and always will. He is the friend and family that always cares. He is the person who stands by your side and never leaves. Though some may call him a bizzy body he tries his best to look out for others. Though he still might be called a child but in my eyes, he is a man among men, he is a friend in our hearts, and he is Jacob Dickson who may not be a superhero be he is my hero, my silent hero.
Who is your hero? Many of us can clearly picture our idea of our personal hero in our head, but is the person you consider to be a hero really a hero by definition? In Heroism: Why Heroes are Important, Scott LaBarge, a Classics and Philosophy Professor at Santa Clara University, awakens your thoughts on the word heroism and how it has changed since its origins in ancient Greece. Throughout his essay, he goes in depth into the term ‘hero’ and compares it to society’s take on heroes today. Although LaBarge uses examples to back up his stance that “Today, it is much harder to detach the concept of heroism from morality (LaBarge. 1),” his essay contains flaws and he contradicts his own words.
Johnny is the hero because he saved the lives of multiple people by putting his own life at risk. One example is when Johnny and Ponyboy ran away. While they were running away Bob and his gang decided to jump Johnny and Pony for stealing their girls. They had Johnny on the ground beating him up and they were drowning Ponyboy. Johnny was really scared and he didn’t want Ponyboy to die so they grabbed the switchblade he had in his pocket and he killed Bob . So what he did was worth it because all the socs ran away in there Mustang. Another reason that Johnny is the hero is because he saved
Every culture has a hero. Every hero has a legend. Every legend meets that culture's particular needs. The events, settings, and other characters might be different, but the hero is basically the same for all. The universal hero is initially an immoral character, but after overcoming difficult obstacles, he/she eventually becomes a better person. Jacob and Odysseus are such heroes. Both share an obvious characteristic of deceitfulness, but both still have differences, although discreet. They become a hero because they've changed into a better human being.
There is a hero in us all. A hero is someone who risks their own life to save or do good for others. Ponyboy is a hero because he risked his life to save children from a burning church. Johnny is a hero even though he killed someone it was to save his friend’s life but he also saved children from a burning church. Dally has been arrested, picks fights, and drinks, but when it comes to the people he is close with he has his soft spots for them. All bad boys have a good side.
Who is a hero? In contemporary times, usage of the term has become somewhat of a cliché. Over the years, the term “hero” has become representative of a wide variety of individuals, each possessing differing traits. Some of the answers put forth by my colleagues (during our in-class discussion on heroism) as to whom they consider heroes pointed to celebrities, athletes, teachers and family members. Although the occupations differed, each of their heroes bore qualities that my classmates perceived as extraordinary, whether morally or physically. Nonetheless, Webster’s defines “hero” as “a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities.” Thus, it is worth considering that individuals become heroes relative to the situation with which they’re faced.
... is not simply defined by his/her strength or looks; it is also their inner strength and beauty that is truly important. A hero can have many qualities but when they show true understanding for something even without proper education, they are accepting of those around them, and breaking rules when the time is at its most important. While there are true heroes, there are also anti-heroes which have the opposite qualities that of the true hero. Furthermore, there are many kinds of heroes but a true hero is defined by inner qualities that of outer qualities.
Readers are impressed and inspired by Junior’s courage, determination and passion. Heroes inspire people because of their actions more so than directly saving someone. Courage and passion that creates determination are heroic because they inspire other people to do that themselves. Junior is even more heroic, because, besides
...tive outlook on things, he shows his emotional strength to handle things in an adult manner.
The perfect image of a true hero is Beowulf. His courage and confidence seems to come naturally. He is the ideal man; he puts others before himself and has amazing physical and mental strength. He is so revered that he can boast about his achievements without seeming vain. “I had greater strength on the sea, more ordeals on the waves as any other man.” (Luizza 69)
...ink a hero can be described as someone who helps others, is a role model to others, does the right thing, but can also help and be a hero to himself, not just someone who does heroic things for only others. Being helpful to yourself is something I would think and important quality for heroes, and everyone else. A hero can set a goal and get it done. However, doing things all at once can sometimes be a bother and possibly make more problems. It is important to do things one at a time, even if this means some problems might not get solved until later. I think this description fits Johnny almost perfectly. Johnny can help others (page 24 and 28: standing up for Cherry), is a role model (page 91-93: the church fire), does the right thing (page 87: wanting to turn himself in) etc. Johnny always did what he knew he should do, even if he was a little late on the decision.
A hero is a person, typically a man, who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievement, or noble qualities. John Jay was a hero because he was one the nation’s Founding Fathers. He helped bring independence to the colonies along with creating a constitution
My Personal Michigan hero,Luis Andalon, works hard and never stopped working hard, which inspires me to be great. My hero overcame coming from a big and a poorer family, always worked hard and never stopped. A hero is a person who inspires you and cares about you, like my hero does. My hero doesn’t have any real superpowers, but it feels like he
When I think of a hero I immediately think of someone who is strong, intelligent, handsome, and daring. Upon closer examination, many different qualities than these become apparent. Courage, honesty, bravery, selflessness, and the will to try are just a few of the overlooked qualities of a hero. The definition of heroism changes with the context and time. Heroes of the past are not necessarily heroes of present time and vise versa.
My hero is my dad. He is my superman. He is my leader. My dad is a dad who motivates me and keeps me going, even when I want to give up. He is there for me when I don’t want to try anymore and he always keeps me going. Of all the heroes in the world, my dad is at the top of the list.
... top of my list to be one of my living heroes. He has done much to make people take him as an example and start thinking about others, and how people suffer when assistance is not provided .This essay showed me that Nick Vujicic had mental and physical strength and he believes that everybody can make changes. Nick’s strength is mainly found in his ability in leading others by his speeches in many countries. In my opinion, these things made him have the will to be an example of good hero. Nick is a role model for me because he showed a good example to others, he helps and inspires us to find our purpose, to be hopeful, to love ourselves and to have a positive attitude . I think, in his personality I see that he tries his best in this world and it was the hero dwelling inside Nick Vujicic that pushed him past his limitation and into a bright and satisfying future.
