How does It’s a Wonderful Life demonstrate christian values?
In the movie It’s a Wonderful Life, many of christian values were shown. Loving thy neighbor was displayed in several scenes. Also, the angel helping George Bailey relates to christians in so many ways. Plus, christian values were revealed when was praying to God. It’s a Wonderful Life has so many other ways christian values are exhibited , but those are the three main ones.
The movie really shows how the community works together and treats each other well during rough times. In the one scene, George Bailey used his 2,000 dollars that was suppose to be for his honeymoon to give to the people who made investments and needed some money. Christians treat each other how they want to
be treated which is what George did. Even though George might have been only left with 2 dollars, he did the right thing by giving which is something a christian does. Christians come together at times in needs like the town did in It’s a Wonderful Life. To expand on how It’s a Wonderful Life relates to christian values, the angel in the movie came to George to help him when he was about to do something he would majorly regret. There are several angels in christian’s faith. The angel Gabriel came to Mary to tell her she will have Jesus. Gabriel helped Mary handle the whole having Jesus thing. The angel in It’s a Wonderful Life showed to George he was needed and liked in his community even though he did not know it. The last reason It’s a Wonderful Life demonstrates christian values is the whole concept of praying to God. Christians believe praying to God will help in times of need. George prayed to God when he was in really bad times. After he prayed, God sent an angel to help make it through all the things he was going through. The angel did help him and angels and God will help christians when they pray which is something they greatly value. To conclude, christian values are widely shown throughout It’s a Wonderful Life. The movie has many things that relate and are similar to what christians believe in. The amount of the town had for each other is truly remarkable. The angel and prayer and just 2 of many other christian related things in the movie. To end, It’s a Wonderful does demonstrate christian values.
Overall, the film effectively depicts individual stories of homosexuals and their families’ struggles that are both inspiring and a warning. If we are to ask, “What would Jesus do”, I think the Bible demonstrates over and over that we are to love, not hate or condemn. I thinks it’s time society wake-up and search for spiritual truth and let go of old stereotypes and embrace humanity.
For the second movie we had to watch, I chose The Good Lie. The Good Lie is the story of the thousands of Sudanese children who were left orphaned and displaced by a civil war in the 1980s. The Good Lie tells a story of six of these kids that made it to America who suffered atrocities, watching as rebel soldiers ravage and burn down their village and seeing their parents get murdered. In addition to these awful events, they survived extreme physical hardships, walking barefoot, escaping from gun fire for about 800 miles to safety in the Kenyan refugee camps. The movie opens with the grueling journey undertaken by these five boys and girl. They fend off dangerous wild animals, dehydration and soldiers during their trek, and one boy passes away and another is taken off by soldiers. When the remaining quartet reaches safety, they band together ever closer.
Beloved is a movie full of pain, love, and triumph. This film is constructed and created from the works of Toni Morrison’s novel. Beloved can be considered a ghost tale based on how the main character Beloved magically appears and disappears with no warning signs. The movie takes place in the summer of 1865 in Ohio at 124 Bluestone Road in a little white house on a plate of land.
In the past, skin and gender were always an issue. If you’re colored (black), people look down at you. If you’re a female, you’re seen as a “living thing” whose purpose is to serve men. Set in New York in the 1950’s, Imitation of Life a drama directed by Douglas Skirk will not only play with your feelings and emotions, your tears will also betray you. The acting of Lana Turner, Susan Kohner, Sandra Dee, Juanita Moore, and John Gavin will surely give you mixed emotions. This marvelous film will also make you question your morals when having thoughts such as wishing bad things would happen to some of the characters, or feeling good after seeing a character miserable but in the end you’ll question yourself, does it have to end that way?
The drama film Almost Famous is written and released by director Cameron Crowe in the year 2000. The film is set in the age of rock and roll in San Diego (1973). The film is partly autobiographical, because director Crowe had been writing articles for Rolling Stone magazine when he was a teenager.. Almost Famous has won several awards in 2001, including a Grammy award for best soundtrack, a BAFTA and an Oscar for best original screenplay. Winning these awards gives a good impression of the high quality of this film.

In the film adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s No Country For Old Men, Joel and Ethan Coen assert that society has lost the moral on which it was built. The Coen brothers develop this claim by manipulating the traditional characteristics of a Western film in order to create an anti-Western through which they depict the hopelessness of humanity within the current state of society. Through their use of mechanics such as innovative camera angles, sound manipulation and editing the film adaptation successfully portrays the immorality of society as an abyss of depraved humanity.
Ang Lee attempts to challenges racial stereotyping and heteronormativity present in Hollywood by adding a racial and homosexual twist to the screwball comedy genre in The Wedding Banquet. The Wedding Banquet is a 1993 film about an interracial, homosexual American couple, Wai Tung and Simon. Due to the patriarchal nature of Taiwanese culture, Wai Tung cannot reveal his sexual orientation or his relationship with Simon to his parents and therefore is incessantly pestered by his parents in Taiwan to get married and have children to carry on the family name. In order to make Wai Tung’s parents happy, Wai Tung and Simon attempt to trick them by having Wai Tung marry Wei Wei, a Chinese tenant of Wai Tung’s. This backfires when the parents come to America to meet the bride and consequently leads to an extravagant
“There's kind of a Zen aspect to bowling. The pins are either staying up or down before you even throw your arm back. It's kind of a mind-set. You want to be in this perfect mind-set before you released the ball.” Jeff Bridges describes bowling to be black or white; one pin can not both be up and down. However, the character whom Jeff Bridges portrays in the classic bowling noir film The Big Lebowski, the Dude, is far from black and white. Once he was an ex-social justice warrior protesting the Vietnam war, now he is hanging out with a disgruntled Vietnam vet. With a joint in his mouth and a White Russian in his hand, the Dude goes through life without a care, only waiting for his turn to bowl. Throughout the movie, the Dude is dragged into a series of unfortunate events, none of which are his idea. What originally started off with nothing more than a piss-stained carpet spawned into a faux kidnapping and the death of the Dude’s beloved friend, Donny. The plot,
While watching the scene of Joel getting his memory wiped clean of clementine in “Eternal Sunshine on the Spotless Mind” you see a few different strange occurrences happen. This leads me to believe Joel is in REM sleep during his procedure. I have come this conclusion because our book states dreams during REM are “often emotional, usually story like, and richly hallucinatory” (Myers and Dewall, 11: 103). Throughout Joel’s procedure you see he experiences all three of those dreams. An example of Joel having an emotional dream would be when he cries out for the people working on him just to keep this one last memory. Also Joel is emotional while frantically trying to escape memory lose by running with Clementine.

In the end, the stranger becomes attached to the family which suggests that a relationship might spring up later. The real father, who abused Frankie and his mother Lizzie, dies without seeing Frankie one final time. Frankie eventually learns that the stranger is not his real father but likes him anyways. In this essay, I will
The pursuit of happyness directed by Gabrielle Muccino is very good movie inspired by true story of salesman Chris Gardner (Will Smith), and his five years old son Christopher (Jaden Smith). The two main actors Will Smith and his son Jaden Smith were the best actors for the movie. The movie place in San Francisco in 1981, is a 2006 American biographical drama film. This movie relates to single man Chris Gardner (Will Smith) salesman struggle with his son by looking for better life, happiness. I recommend this movie to anyone to watch because is true story full of love, emotional, sadness, funning, educative, hope, and happiness.
Movie examples only scratch the surface of “best friends.” Viewers see the typical girl duo that gossips and shops, completely joined at the hip, never without one another. They trade secrets and inside jokes like playing cards, and their names go hand in hand. That perception is not wrong; it is just not the whole truth. Your best friend should be all that movies say, but it is so much more complex than that. Relationships are the risk you take knowing you could lose someone, but best friends and forever loves are knowing they will always be there after a long day. Dave Matthews once said, “A guy and girl can be just friends, but at one point or another, they will fall for each other… Maybe temporarily, maybe at the wrong time, maybe too
The movie is about the protagonist Andy Dufresne, he was then convicted of murder, and since he is intelligent enough to point out that the warden Samuel Norton, is very religious and believes in Christianity, since the warden also “promotes” Christianity and its holy book throughout the movie.
Not only does this movie deal with the issues of society, but it points to biblical scriptures that help lead us in the right direction. The biggest lesson that this film taught me was that if I put my complete faith in God, then no matter what happens, he will provide, watch over, and take care of me. I learned that expressing belief in God is not enough. I have to live everyday believing and trusting him and I have to show my trust and faith through my actions and my words.
