Day 1: Considering your understanding of Botticelli and Raphael, what was the purpose of art for the Italian Renaissance artists?
Definitions:
Renaissance: The activity, spirit, or time of the great revival of art, literature, and learning in Europe beginning in the 14th century and extending to the17th century, marking the transition from the medieval to the modern world.
Classical Antiquity: Ancient times in the Greek and Roman world
Medieval time: Of, pertaining to, characteristic of, or in the style of the Middle Ages
Argument: The purpose of art for Italian Renaissance artist was to revive the ideals, styles, and techniques from classical antiquity and intertwine it with Medieval and humanistic ideals.

The Birth of Venus ties together both the birth of Venus and Jesus showing a unification of ideas of the different time periods.
Day 2:Based on your understanding of ancient Greco-Roman art and art from the Renaissance, which had the greater Achievements? *(restate a few Day 1 points)
Argument: I believe that the achievements of the renaissance weren’t as great as the achievements of the ancient Greeks and Romans because although there were different goals for each time period the message that they were trying to convey through their art was achieved.
Achievements of Greco-Roman art
Classical Antiquity lasted about 1450 years from about 1000 BCE to 450 CE. Compared to the Renaissance which only lasted 300 years roughly from 1300-1600 AD.
Ancient Greeks and Romans mastered as well as created and improve many techniques for their artwork. Unlike the masters of the Renaissance who mostly used techniques from both Classical Antiquity and
