Purity in the Gothic genre can be perceived from so many points of view. It involves sex, beauty, perception, and people's position in society. "The Italian" has many characters that behold either one or more of these traits. In this paper, we will explore how Ann Radcliffe uses purity and the deception and destruction of it to enhance her character's role in the Gothic genre.
Life in Italy is much different than life in the United States. Italians live at a much slower pace, than American’s and they have a desire to enjoy life instead of rushing through it as many American lifestyles exhibit (Zimmermann, K. (2015). The extended family is very important in Italy, whereas in the United States, the focus tends to be on the nuclear family, which includes mom, dad, and children (Zimmermann, 2015). The differences in Italian culture and American culture are vast and varied, but with a few comparable components to demonstrate similarities.
Across Europe, between 1400 and 1650, there were women present in all major styles of time. They worked along side of great artists and were developing new techniques and styles. Women also played a very important role in the Renaissance. Although not as well documented as their male counterparts, women worked along with the other great masters, were just as innovating, and were key in developing new techniques.

In the journal above, the text explains that Opera played an important part on lives of urban Italians during the times that followed the fall of Napoleon's European empire and the restoration of the Italian legitimist rulers by the Congress of Vienna. People all over wanted to use Opera, for it's social impact on others, in order to portray their messages. Even so, theaters continued to draw regular audiences, thus proving that politics from different nationalities didn't matter to whoever saw and wrote an Opera. I'll be using this source in my
Italy, positioned in southeastern Europe, is a beautiful country that is faced with high unemployment, corruption and massive debt. Although it appears to be one of the most developed countries in Europe, Italy is somewhat of a laggard in globalization. Ranking twenty-third in world population, Italy stands at 56,126,212 people as of July 2009. The north and south seem to be split in economic terms with the north being well developed industrially and the south facing high unemployment and poverty. Italy is a democratic republic that replaced a monarchy back in 1946. Although it ranks seventh in world GDP and public debt and attracts millions of tourists every year, its current debt to GDP ratio continues to skyrocket. World economists are beginning to wonder if Italy will be able to survive the aftermath of the U.S. housing and credit crisis without defaulting on its debt. Even though Italy is known for its diversity in civilization and political principles, slow economic growth and an unstable political arena cause the country to fall behind in terms of global trade. Its economic forecasts and equity markets have taken a hit in the last quarter of 2009. Many say the cause of these horrific economic numbers are the global competition that Italy faces in its low-end industrial product segment.

An interesting Law in the city of Turin is that dog owners must walk their dogs at least three times a day because the penalty would be a fine that they would have to pay. Italy is Artistic in every way shape or form, fashion is also a form of art that they represent greatly and many no. Some of the designers that we hear commonly are Armani, Prada, and Versace. These all come from Italy. It appears to be common for Italians to be late and to communicate with hand movements well talking and expressing their emotions through their face( this is the reason why they would rather a person look directly into their eyes because they
