At some point in a woman's life, she may think of the idea of having a child. Some young girls are taught at a young age that when she grows up, someday she can have a family of her own if she chooses. When I was a child, I remember my mother and other womanly influences telling me that when I'm older, I might have a family of my own; and in result of this, ever since I was little, I have planned out how many children I want to have, and my expectations of my family life. However, while many women see themselves having children someday, and understand the process of carrying a child, some women might be in the dark about the complications that can come along with pregnancy. Life can throw curve balls, and everything that may have been planned, and thought out clearly might not go as smoothly as expected. There are many complications that can occur from pregnancy for mom and baby. In fact, one of the most common complications to occur is Down syndrome. And while Down syndrome may be very common, many women are making the decision to abort their fetuses once they are aware of the disability.
There can be many reasons as to why a woman might have an abortion. It may be due to an unwanted pregnancy in general, health issues with the mother that will cause her sickness throughout the pregnancy, ectopic pregnancy, and even awareness of a physical flaw with the child such as down syndrome. Prenatal testing has made it possible to determine whether or not a baby will have down syndrome during pregnancy, and research has shown that 92% of women who are aware of their child having a disability, abort their pregnancy. One statistic showed that from 2002 to 2010, 17,983 babies with disabilities were aborted in the UK. It is mentioned that many of these babies were compatible for life outside of the womb. This means that the baby could have survived, and abortion was not necessary.
To those who are unaware of exactly what an abortion is; it is when a pregnant woman has a fetus removed from her womb. This can either happen by induced labor, or by an in office procedure where the woman is put under general anesthesia and the fetus is surgically removed. This procedure usually takes place under a few hours and the patient may be sent home that day.
Abortion is the ending of a pregnancy before birth; it causes the termination of the embryo or fetus inside the woman. There are two different types of abortion, a spontaneous abortion, which is also known as a miscarriage, and an induced abortion, where the embryo or fetus is purposely removed from the woman’s body. The topic of induced abortion has been widely debated for hundreds of years. The issue of abortion was argued way back in the time of the ancient Hebrews. In the United States, it became illegal around the mid 1800’s and not until the 1960’s was the argument for the right to abort brought back to the table.
Pregnancy and the birth of a child throughout many cultures is viewed as a gift, either from God or from any other supernatural figure that they worship. If the pregnancy is terminated for any reason or there are complications it is also viewed in a large group of cultures as a punishment, or because you did not closely follow the rules or regulations of your culture. The process, emotional, and physical stress of bearing a child places mothers and family in a position of opportunity along with placing within them great responsibility. Mothers planning to bear children ideally need to be within the healthy weight range along with being well nourished, but this is not always the case. Many mothers to be are surprised when they realize or are

Abortions have been around for many years, dating all the way back to ancient times. In those times they used herbal medicines, and sharp too. Abortion has a history dating all the way back to civilizations China, Ancient Egypt, and the Roman Empire. Abortions are one of the most common medical procedures performed in the United States each year. Even though it is performed so many times, it is still one of the most controversial procedures to date. Since being allowed by law, abortion has developed in the

The most common conflicts that cause a woman to get an abortion are based on their own personal responsibilities. Sixteen percent of women, who get abortions, believe that their life would be changed too much to acquire a child. Twenty-one percent of expectant mothers feel that they are not ready for the responsibility to care for an adolescent. Few as twelve percent have complications with relationships or are unmarried. Three percent have discovered that the baby in the womb has health issues. Four perecent of the abortions are other reasons. If a mother has health issues that could place her life at risk while having a baby, then that mother may need to have an abortion to save her life. Head (2015) does include, “Even though pro choice protestors seem to be pro abortion, that is not completely what their argument is about,” (para. 6). Many pro choice leaders look for the best option for a mother and the baby. They look for many alternatives that give the mother and her child both their best outlook on life. A lot of parents do not have the capability or money to handle a child with disabilities, which the article failed to show. A large amount of parents consider if abortion will be the best for that type of situation. Head (2015) does include, “Circumstances may put someone in a position where abortion is the best option,” (para. 20). The author stating this shows views where if the mother can be hurt, or even die.
Some women may actually want to carry their child but could have a medical issue that can lead them to having a miscarriage which can lead to an abortion. It is actually the parent’s decision weather they want to abort their child or not. There is about 15,000 abortions per year worldwide, and approximately one hundred fifteen thousand per day. (Abortion should be Banned) For a mother to think of having an abortion may seem very hard. You might think you are doing the right thing at that moment of time but in the future you might regret making the wrong decisions. Later on down the

Many people have their own opinions on abortion, that a fetus is a human being with a right to live so abortion is similar to murder. While other groups argue that a woman has certain rights, especially the choice whether to bring another life into the world. The groups that are for it think that abortion gives women the control over their own bodies, which it is their choice when and whether to have children or giving an option to choose to bring or not to bring a child with abnormalities to the world. Some children are born with severe disorders and some parents, being unable to care for their disabled child seek abortion as their one and only option because taking care of a child, especially born with abnormalities is tough work to do as a parent, so they decide whether bring a life into the world. They look ahead on what is best for them, and it is selfish. Or even having in mind that some do not want to become a single parent taking up two roles; a mother and father and they feel like every child should come into the world feeling wanted, loved and cared for. Another reason some women have an abortion is because they do not want to stop work or schooling, and these reasons are consistent across many countries, including America. Other reasons are because of societal pressures, women get little to no social support. But
