Who doesn’t love technology? We use it everyday from the moment you wake up to the time you go to bed. You may not realize it, but our entire world revolves around technology. It helps you wake up in the morning, make your breakfast, know where you’re going, and even get you places quickly. However, even though it may sound great, technology isn’t always loved by everyone.

Stem cell research is a big debate in today's society. The argument of whether or not it is morally acceptable has been sparked, as well as court cases and religious and political disputes have begun. Stem cells “can only be obtained by destroying human embryos, nearly every Western legislature had noisy and bitter debates.” (“Is the Great Stem Cell

Debate Over?” 2015). This is a difficult subject for many due to the fact that stem cell research could potentially provide us with an opportunity "for treating diseases such as diabetes, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease" ("Immorality and invention" 2014). However, the ways of getting there are highly controversial. A new issue has sparked controversy and has been brought to court over "a decision by the Patent Office that unfertilized human eggs that have been stimulated to divide". Although these controversial acts could potentially help with advancing technology, the ways of getting there will likely upset many. In another case, the chairman of a panel of the National Institutes of Health talked about the “extremely high level of public ignorance” regarding research toward human reproduction and that it “invites exploitation by those who, for moral reasons, object to human embryo research” (“The Stem Cell Debates” 2012). This just emphasizes the large dispute over stem cell research and the difficulty that these scientists are having with trying to advance our knowledge of biotechnology.

Although there are many helpful uses for technology, some wonder whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, and whether some research is considered moral or immoral. The argument over technology such as stem cell research is one that is very large and ever growing. This leaves scientists who study stem cell research with a responsibility to have good judgement over what will be considered moral or immoral. After all, it could potentially lead us to groundbreaking technology. We must discover the fine line that tells us whether or not it is acceptable or not to do something, or things will never get done.
