Why do people drink sodas? Some people think that other people drink them is because they have low self-esteem and they don’t think good about themselves, but that’s not necessarily true. Some people drink sodas because they taste very good and they get addicted really fast, unless parents only let their child have sodas only once every couple of days. There are a lot of different sodas that can harm the body, but there are a lot of sodas that are good for the human body and taste good too. Sodas can cause bad things to the body. Sodas can harm the body and the environment, such as water pollution and “Mountain Dew Mouth”. “Mountain Dew Mouth” is a mouth full of cavities caused by the drink’s excessive sugar levels. An ingredient called brominated vegetable oil, or BVO, added to prevent the flavoring from separating from the drink, is an industrial chemical used as a flame retardent in plastics. With water pollution, when you throw away your soda cans or bottles, they are carried away into the ocean. I would try telling you something good about soda but there is absolutely nothing good about it, because it has no positives.

In the past couple years people all around the nation, whether it's in New York City or an 8th Grade classroom in Michigan, people have been pressed with the question, whether the New York Soda Ban, is a good thing, improving health, or if there is a larger issue. Is this decision showing evidence of the Government interfering with our basic civil liberties?
Out of the fifty responses I received, more than 25% of the respondents exclaimed to drink on average at least one soda or more a day. About 62% stated that they drink less than that, while a total of five students reported to not consuming any soft drinks at all. Results to the first question are listed below in Figure 1.
There are plenty of sugary soft drinks in the market today. Citizens have rights to drink whatever they want, and they aren’t going to be willing to give up those rights because someone told them to. Senators and congressman everywhere have made it known that they do not approve of these types of bans. There are many people in this world that are less willing to change their minds when they are told to. This ban is asking for too much control over citizens and does not include all unhealthy obesity causing drinks.

The sales for diet soda have decreased 7 percent over the past year regarding amid research on diet soda products. Though the word diet means the kind of food/drinks a person habitually eats/drinks, diet soda is a chemical cocktail misleads millions of people.
