Profits, relations, and the satisfaction of greed do not proceed people. All humans bleed red, breath air, and are 99.9 percent genetically identical to one and another. Despite the similarities between all humans, the emergence of practices such as slavery preach otherwize. Slavery creates an inequality that is not biologically there and is thus unhealthy to all parties involved. Whether slave owners or slaves, the practice of slavery has negative consequences. The unhealthy effects of slavery include the violation of essential human rights, the corruption of the minds of slave-owners and the negative implications on society.

Slaves were deprived of basic human rights based on the notion that they were a genetically inferior race and that the natural order of the universe placed them in a position to serve those above them. These fallacious attempts at justifying slavery have been proven wrong. The only significant biological difference between an african slave and their american slave owner is the melanin content in their skin. Most American societies, however, were based on this flawed theory, that slaves were of an inferior race. This proved to be very unhealthy to the society. The slave trade was initially brought to the western hemisphere to enable the newly seized land of the British colonies to be utilized. The land was immense and would have remained useless without sufficient, cheap labour to make use of it. It was much cheaper to force the work unto slaves than to pay americans to do the work. The entire economic system of the Southern United States was based on free labour provided by slaves. without them the economic system would crash. The abolition of slavery meant the abolition of free labour, which meant employees now had to pay to work which meant less profit for the business. In addition, the practise of slavery promoted discrimination and racism within the society.
