Is School for fools? A higher education is certainly not for fools. When looking at college, some people can only see the expense. What they don’t see is the excessive benefits that college can bring. While college can be a financial burden, in reality college is a great investment that will provide one a job that earns more money, benefit those whose job doesn’t require a degree , and strengthens minds intellectually. People who attend and graduate college are more likely to be better off financially than those who don’t. This is true for a couple of reasons. Those who graduate college are far less likely to be jobless than non-graduates (Leonhardt). Also, the jobs that college graduates receive are paying substantially more. In 2010, eighty-three percent of graduates with a bachelor’s degree earned more money than those with only a high school diploma (Leonhardt). Going into more detail, these graduates on average earned near twenty-thousand dollars more in a year than those adults that didn’t attend college.
