Nowadays, it is almost impossible not be aware of the political and social situation in the United States. Not just the big media, but also, the social media and the Independent's organization is capable enough of spreading any kind of news related to our social and economic situation. Throughout history, civilizations have organized their members and incentives in citizenship systems. Athens and Rome, both portray the traits of semi-perfect systems of their time. While Rome may have been the greater civilization, Athens had the better citizenship system, for having protective, unbiased, and open minded tradeoffs.

The U.S. is a combination of many cultures and influences over the centuries and because of this we are alike to many of them. We could name many of these influences: the Greeks, the Chinese Dynasties but the Romans were particularly like us. We might see them as barbaric is some ways but the reality is that the U.S. takes pages from many areas of the Romans, and comparisons could be drawn between both of us. To better clarify, our culture has some striking similarities to that of Ancient Rome’s. Such as, our government was partly based on some of the fundamentals of that of Romes. We included checks and balances, and the separation of a state and federal government, and we have three branches of government. Another characteristic that we share with Rome is what we spend our tax money on. For example, we pay for roads, public libraries, and the military. Furthermore Rome was among the first to provide a welfare system. We know he a welfare system that shares some striking similarities to that of Rome’s. Therefore, based on this information, there are quite a few things that we have in common with Rome, from where our tax money goes, to our government, to our welfare system. We share quite a few striking similarities with Rome.
On top of justice is being done, we need to look at the functions of
Rome, considered by most the greatest empire of the ancient world, stretched from modern day England to Palestine and was more successful than all previous Empires. Rome's government, military, economic and civic structures were all superior to those of their predecessors.
3.)How does the government try to balance the rights of the individual with the good of society?
Look at a picture of the White House. What do you notice? The beautiful structure and the way it stands out? What about the columns? They look awfully familiar. Now look at a picture of the Pantheon. See the similarities? People think of Rome as one of the most successful societies history has to offer, but that has not always been the case. It took sometime for Rome to get it right, and that started with the Republic. The Early part of the Republic gave the Patricians an advantage taking control of the society. They did not give the Plebeians fair rights, which caused a conflict. War was not required to solve the conflict. Their societal structure can be comparable to the French, only they solved their problem differently. The structure of the Roman Republic first benefited the rich through laws and difficulty to change classes, but unlike the French, The Roman Republic resolved their conflict without war.
In the text, the main idea is to be depicted that Rome’s different levels of tolerance had play a crucial role in not only benefiting the empire, but damaging it as well. Consequently, the level of tolerance was a double–edged sword for the empire.

In The Republic Plato constructs his argument through an analogy between a city and the soul on what justice means to him. Crimes in ancient Rome were different then most crimes today to deal with these crimes they came up with many different consequences. Some included death, slavery, and banishment. The main reason these punishments were enforced were to keep their city under control much like our own country. Jail was not one of those ways. Jails were used in a very different way then we use them but was very effective but harsh. Most things in the roman empire were very harsh because romans wanted to be the very best.
