Smartphone: iPhone or Android
Smart phones are literally in the palm of everyones hands today. In fact, it is a rarity to see someone without one. I have had a cellphone since I was ten years old and personally could not imagine life without one. But that is exactly what may happen in the very near future because my mother just decided I have to buy my own phone and pay my own bill. I am eighteen years old, I work a full time job, and now for the first time in my life I am confronted with the major financial decision to choose which smartphone I would rather have. Out of my smartphone choices there are only two that stand out above the rest, the iPhone and the Android. Even though it is well known that most people prefer an Android over an iPhone, there are many proponents of the iPhone who believe the iPhone is better, and that is without doubt. There are a lot of similarities between the iPhone and the Android, but there are also a lot of differences which make it difficult to choose which smartphone is just right for me.

The iPhone is only made by Apple, while the Android is offered with different models from a lot of different manufacturers, such as Samsung, Motorola, LG, and Sony, to name a few. With an iPhone purchase I would only have to choose the model but if I decided on the Android, I would have to choose both the brand and the model. An Android offers a greater number of choices, but Apple has the simplicity users look for when picking out a new phone. That being said, I have walked in several cellphone stores and been completely overwhelmed by the number of Android choices. Comparatively, the iPhone display is small and definitely not
Technology has evolved over the years. It was first the pager that was a crucial device, then the PDA and lastly the Smartphone. The core product is the main idea of why a phone or Blackberry will be bought and its technology, connectivity and mere ownership of the device gives the owner the feeling of superiority. People cannot fathom existing without their cell phones these days. The ability to connect in case of an emergency, tardiness, chatting with friends and other similar situations is an important point. Everyone wants to “keep up with the Joneses” by having the latest devices.
When it comes to smart phone market share in the United States, Apple still trails Android by almost 10%. But if you are to break out the market share figures then you will notice that IPhone reigns supreme by a very wide margin. According to a lot of recent data compiled by ComScore, Phone’s share of the United States smartphone market now is about 43.6%, followed by Samsung which is at 27.6%. Apples market has increased by 4% almost every year, while Samsung has been dropping by 4% almost every year. Although Apple is doing a bit better than Samsung overall, Samsung is still topping Apple with their Android. During the second quarter of 2015 Samsung took a 21.7 percent of the global smartphone market, with shipments 73.2 million units. A reason I feel Samsung is doing much greater then apple right now is their ability to have all these different features, which not only add modern things to their phone but also longevity. With the three new water proof phones that Samsung has come out with Apple has yet to release their first
Apple is one of the world’s greatest tech company and has its products sold in many countries. Apple makes about 34 percent of iPhone sales in America while compared to Android sales which is about 20 percent (Tung).
...ecurity steps taken to preserve the owners’ personal and priceless information. The iPhone is a better phone overall compared to any Android device because of the careful design and attractive display, the operating system and its functionality, and the security of the device itself is definitely worth the cost to own one. Apple has really outdone there self and clearly surpassed Android devices, claiming the top spot of the competition.
In June of 2007, the first iPhone was released, revolutionizing our way of living. For the past seven years, it has been known worldwide as one of the top smartphones. Since then, we have become reliant on mobile devices and technology in general making them a necessity for everyday life. Using the iPhone’s capabilities as the basis, this paper will explore the impact on our society from the use of, and dependence on iPhones. It will further analyze if these outcomes are in fact positive. The iPhone has become substantial in how we function, creating a significant change in our culture. Since iPhones do influence our lives, it is important to interpret how it is accomplished.
Apple uses a app called the app store. This has thousands of apps that people can purchase. These are made and designed by people. The only thing with apple is that you can only purchase apps on the apps store. When people start talking about android there are many different phones and devices that a person can use. For instance someone can buy the galaxy s6. This phone runs on android 5.0! This is the latest software that has come out. Whenever you buy an android phone they use only android. These devices can run both systems. Android has there own app store that they use. Android is more complex. You can design android to the way you like it. People who want a device that you can customise use android. Android is more for the advanced phone geeks. Apple is more simpler for people to understand and use. The samsung galaxy s6 has a lot of cool features. There 's a camera With 5-megapixel front and 16-megapixel back cameras that can launch in just 0.7 seconds, capturing moments the moment they happen is as simple as point, click, snap. And thanks to an f1.9 aperture, even low light party shots will look as amazing as you remember(Galaxy S6). This phone is Protected by the very latest Gorilla
There are many different brands that produce Android smart phones. Along with different brands, as you can imagine there are an abundance of models too. So whatever you may desire in a phone, there are many different options to choose from when selecting an Android. As I stated earlier, the Google Play Store do not have many limitations on apps. This allows companies and individuals to upload and create their own apps, causing there to be more apps available to Android users. Not only are there more apps, the selection is much more broad and a desirable type of application may come in different forms over the Google Play Store. This also allows different music players to be downloaded and used. Music can easily be downloaded onto an Android and played with the many different music applications. The possibilities when it comes to music on an Android are infinite really. On the other hand, iPhone only has one brand making the phones and that is Apple. So only one company makes the phones and only releases a few models every year. So the options are much more limited and the decision is more likely to be based on the dollar amount spent on an iPhone. The App Store iPhones use is like a library that only holds bestselling authors. There are limitations set on the apps so the variety is much smaller than the Goggle Play Store and the diversity of applications is nothing compared to the Androids market. Along with being limited on
With how easy it is to access anything imaginable in one simple device it is no wonder that people would eventually grow a dependency towards their phone. It is not hard to understand why people have become so dependent on the phone, the first thing in the morning many people do is check their cell phones,
Snapchat and Instagram are my top two favorite social media apps. Although they are both similar to each other they are also very different from each other. Some of the most interesting things about them are: the people who created them, the variety of features that both have, and their statistics. Snapchat was created by Evan Spiegel and Bobbie Murphy. It was then launched in September 2011.
The first decision smartphone shoppers need to make is which platform they want. One of the easiest ways to do this is to stick with what you know. If you 're comfortable using a Mac, you 'll find the transition to an iPhone incredibly intuitive. Apple 's latest OS upgrade includes
The very first iPhone was announced by the founder of Apple, Steve Jobs, in 2007. His vision was to reinvent the phone. iPhones have revolutionized smartphones and have shaped the cell phone industry into what it is today. On January 9, 2007, Steve Jobs put together an incredible keynote presentation. He stated that he would be “introducing a wide-screen ipod with touch controls, a revolutionary mobile phone, and a breakthrough Internet device” (Ritchie, 2015). The audience assumed that this meant that Mr. Jobs would be launching three separate devices. However, it was only one device, the iPhone. Within the past 7 years, Apple has been able to tweak its iPhones by incorporating major redesigns. These redesigns use combinations
In today’s world the vast majority of the population owns a cell phone. Cell phones are a huge part of people’s everyday lives. Since the 1940’s when mobile phones became available for automobiles, phone companies have made huge strides in making mobile phones more efficient, much smaller, and more available for anyone to use. There was a time where only people of wealth had these types of mobile phones. Now people from all social classes own a cell phone. They are extremely convenient and have the ability to do just about anything you can think of. There is an “app” for everything. You can make phone calls, text message, surf the web, pay your bills, read books, catch up on social media, and even listen to you music all from one small handheld device. Cell phones play a huge role in today’s economy. Businesses such as AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint have become huge public corporations with large stakes in the stock market. Between these companies among several other phone companies they have created millions of jobs and opportunities. Cell phone companies have now created what are known as “smart phones”. These phones are typically slim and sleek and have countless versatile abilities. However, cell phones have not always been so “smart” or small for that matter.
Despite the short amount of time since the introduction of the smartphone, the rapid development of the software and technology has had a tremendous effect on the everyday life in society today. The concept of communicating through a telephone was developed in the 1870s. Devices to transmit speech electrically were designed by Elisha Gray and Alexander Graham Bell, but Bell's design was patented first. On March 10, 1876, Alexander Graham Bell achieved one of his greatest successes in the making of the telephone. This brought upon a major change in communication and gave leeway to the improvement of the telephone in the days to come (Bellis, 2013b). During the 20th century there were many innovations regarding the telephone. In 1973, the first call from a portable phone was made Martin Cooper, who was a Motorola researcher and executive at the time. Since its inception, the advancement of cell phones has been exponential (Bellis, 2013a). As a result, cell phones have changed how society works in today's world. Many people lack the insight of how cell phones, or in this case, smart phones, affect the people that use them. So the question is, how is the evolution of smart phones impacting our society?
Comparing the design between Apple and Samsung, they have some differences and similarities. Apple more focuses on simplicity than Samsung. Steve Jobs, was the CEO of Apple Company, always tell the employees that simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. When you look at Apple products you will realize that there look really simple, clean and unique. IPhone only has very few colors, and most of them are black and white. Touch screen and three buttons on the side are pretty much everything on the IPhones. It does not have too many different series and most of the Apple products design very similar. Compare to the Apple, Samsung smartphones have many different series and designs. Customers have options to selects their favorite designs, colors or size among the Samsung’s
My experience with this technology has been very interesting. Growing up I didn 't use technology alot since I spent more of my time outside or reading. I didn’t not really have a smart phone until my senior year of high school, so it didn’t play that big of a factor in my life. When I did get a Smartphone it wasn’t a big deal to me I treated it the same way that I treated my other phone. To me it was nothing special and I felt there was better things to do. I wasn 't a big fan of social application unless they were games or tumblr. When I got the I phone 6 that when I really started to be invested in my phone. Now a day’s My phone is my life everything I need is on my phone , from when my school work is due to all the contact I need. To me it really does make a difference in my life because it seem know that I am always connected to my phone which is a nasty habit.
