People are not born with intolerance, but it can taught throughout life in many ways you might not realize. Intolerance is the act of not willing to accept something. Intolerance is shown in many horrible ways like genocide, bullying, discrimination and hate crimes. Ever since birth, people are taught intolerance in school and sometimes even at home. Intolerance is not right because everyone is the same, and no one should be treated different because of their religion, race gender or heritage. Throughout history we see many evil acts of intolerance occur. For example, the jewish genocide that took place during World War ll took place because Adolf Hitler and the German Nazis blamed jews for Germany's problem and killed over six million jews. …show more content…

At this time many Jews were being persecuted just because they were jewish by the German Nazi. The Nazis blamed all of Germany's problems on the jews. One jewish girl named Anne Frank had to hid in a secret annex for two years. Anne was caught, along with the rest of her friends and family, and killed. She is just one out of the six million jews who were killed by the German Nazis during World War ll. In the Diary, Anne stated, “It’s the silence in the nights that frightens me most. Every time I hear a creak in the house, or a step on the street outside, I’m sure they’re coming for us.” (Goodrich, Hackett 534). This shows the fear that filled Anne while hiding in the Secret Annex, trying not to be heard or they will be killed. There were thousands of people in these positions, and even more people in worse positions about to face death. These people were filled with fear and traumatized because of the intolerance of Germans and Hitler. The Nazis were intolerant towards the Jews, just like the Serbians were intolerant towards the Bosniaks. In both of these cases, many people were killed and hurt because of their religion and what they believe in. Adolf Hitler and Ratko Mladic, the men most responsible for the Bosnian and Jewish Genocide, carried out these killings based on religion.
